This place is super scruffy, I would compare it to a very low end youth hostel from my back packing days. If $10 per night, that would be acceptable, but considering the cost - Dolphin Bay is disappointing and incredibly overpriced. Noisy (needed earplugs to sleep), lumpy beds, sheets at least 10 years old, location seemed somewhat seedy too. The...

Our second time here, so I'll just list the pros and cons. Pros: * Affordable, decent rooms. Clean, not fancy., * Little kitchen is great for family meal prep. Also, because Hilo has expensive and not-too-good restaurants, this is a nice option for some people. * The family rooms, like #19, are very spacious. * Rooms have fans (no air...

Found this place thanks to Trip Advisor. Did not disappoint. Reasonable rates, clean, functional and comfortable accommodations, and banana bread with helpful advice. I love the frog harmonies at night but there are earplugs provided in the room for those who might not. Easy distance from Volcano and walking distance to many restaurants and other attractions. Any time I'm back...

Off the beaten path in a neighborhood near downtown. The staff is very freindly and exceptionally helpful. They have a lot of suggestions on dining and volcano experiences. Nothing fancy about the hotel, just a great sense of Aloha.

Great place to stay in Hilo! Clean, friendly, and you will feel the island heart beat. Frogs are loud at night, but where else can you sleep with frog "white" noise. Staff is wonderful and coffee and cakes in the morning are all you need. Best place in Hilo to stay and enjoy the beauty of Hawaii.

Great hospitality hotel I have ever received. A small, quaint hotel, nestled near downtown Hilo. This is not your average hotel, but a small family owned operation. The owners are extremely helpful and very inviting. The rooms are cute, cozy, comes with an extremely clean, fully stocked kitchen, and within walking distance to downtown Hilo. A wonderful tropical orchard and...

You get the best of both worlds with this little find which includes fresh bananas and papayas each morning from the property, coffee, pastries and a casual and relaxing environment. Our room was on the lower level and has a full bedroom with 2 twin beds in the living room doubling as couches. The beds were a little hard and...

We really enjoyed our stay here. It was very nice and relaxing. We loved having our meals on the lanai. We stayed in a superior studio on the ground level. The room was similar to a motel room with a kitchenette. It was cleaned each day. The frogs are loud, but I actually enjoyed the sound. There are earplugs provided...

During my stay I ran into a transportation problem, and the owner offered to lend me his truck. You don't get that sorta thing at a big hotel. I very much liked the personal service here. And the accommodation (a 1-bedroom apartment in the annex) was comfy and spacious. I was worried about the absence of AC, but the temp...

On our recent trip to the Big Island of Hawaii, the Dolphin Bay Hotel was the perfect spot for us to call home for a couple nights as we ventured and explored the East side of the island. Our trip began on the West Side of the island on a resort, but moved over to the Hilo side of the...
