Great little local hotel. It is not fancy, but very comfortable with a warm staff. It is located next to what looks like a rain forest, complete with orchids and banana trees. Very quiet. Breakfast is fresh backed bread, mangos and you can pick bananas off the bunch. Will return if we book another Big Island vacation.

I stayed with my grandchildren and we had a wonderful time. We stayed in a one bedroom that was clean and spacious. The staff was so kind and helpful and we enjoyed the banana bread and papayas for breakfast. I will definitely stay again next time I am in Hilo!

The hotel was very accommodating on short notice. I needed a one bedroom unit on the first floor due to mobility issues. They rearranged some other bookings to help us out. The location is very peaceful and the room with fans was supremely comfortable.

My husband and I have stayed here several times, and we always hate to leave! The BEST part is sitting out on the lanai with your morning coffee, and then your evening glass of wine. The gardens are lush and beautiful. PLUS the owner John Alexander is a fountain of information as to what to do and see on the...

This is a small budget friendly hotel not far from downtown Hilo. It is not a fancy place by any means, but it's clean and the staff is friendly. Free coffee and tea in the morning with homemade banana bread. No A/C but fans help keep it cool, not bad with the windows open. At night you can hear the...

John Alexander is the master host. Dolphin Bay hotel is well located, clean and was an excellent place to stay. Rooms have everything you might need, including a small, well equipped kitchen. Coffee ( correction), good coffee always available in reception along with stunning fresh fruit and baking. John ensures your stay is unique. He is a boundless source of...

This is my sixth stay here, and I cannot imagine staying in any other hotel on the Big Island. What this place doesn't have (so ignore the complaints in other reviews about it not having this, because this is all information available up-front): AC, room service, a restaurant onsite, a pool, fancy anything. No elevator to the second floor (so...

We stayed here 2 nights based on the location to town. The walk to the shops and farmers market was very easy. The staff were incredible and very friendly. The banana bread and fresh fruit in the morning was perfect. The rooms are simple compared to a resort which was very appealing. We had a kitchen which we was important...

We have stayed there twice in the past three weeks. The first time was with family of six and the second time was two singles. Dolphin Bay Hotel provided the perfect accommodations for each visit. For a family there are suites with one or two bedrooms. With day beds in the living room made up to look like couches by...

We stayed here recently and loved it! Great people and a cat that makes sure you feel at home. Would stay here again and would recommend to friends. Walking distance to restaurants and the farmers market.
