2nd time stay after 14 years since the reviews indicated that not much has changed! Still the same delicious papayas, you-pick starfruit, personal hiking recommendations, cooler & beach towels as needed, nicely equipped kitchen in the rooms, good shower head, clean and very comfortable rooms. The Coqui frogs lull you to sleep (we skipped the ear plugs provided). We had...

We had a wonderful 4 nights stay in room 14 at the end of November. The room was large, clean and comfortable. Small kitchen had everything we needed. Tasty papaya and apple bananas available for guests were extra benefits, when coming back after sightseeing. Large umbrellas provided by hotel helped to deal with rain. John recommended a wonderful place for...

We booked this hotel because of its location, which is walking distance to downtown Hilo. The neighborhood is a bit sketchy but close to everything. We had never stayed there before because it is slightly above our usual budget, so I expected it to be nice. It is an old, dated property with none of the usual amentities we have...

This property is recommended in the book "Hawaii the Big Island Revealed, the Ultimate Guidebook." I stayed for 2 nights and was satisfied. Rooms are big and have complete kitchen facilities, including a stove. Rooms have excellent cross ventilation and a ceiling fan in the main area, which is more than sufficient for the Hilo side. The hotel is located on...

The Dolphin Bay is a tremendous value. Our room was large, the bed comfortable, the kitchen well equipped, the shower great, and it was clean, clean, clean. The experience was pleasant from the moment we walked in the door through departure. The papaya we had for breakfast was the best we had on the island in two weeks. And we...

Our group of two couples stayed at this lovely property in November 2016. We researched lots of properties in Hilo. We're not picky people - we don't need the most modern amenities and furnishings, but we do want to stay where its clean and friendly. We absolutely LOVED the Dolphin Bay! We had a two bedroom unit on the second...

If you're looking for a hipster haven with lots of neon, 2-million thread count sheets and snotty attitudes, keep looking. But if you can handle a refreshingly well-kept and tidy room with all the basics and a welcoming and friendly atmosphere at the hotel, this is a great place! The kitchenette was well-equipped and the bathroom was well-maintained. The carpet...

We received a warm Aloha welcome from Kelly at the reception desk upon arrival. She spent a great deal of time to help orient us to Hilo, explaining the restaurants and streets. Joe was also a friendly worker at this motel who made us feel welcome. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast of fresh fruit from their garden, homemade banana bread...

We stayed a night to catch a plane. It lacks aircon, the wifi is quite weak but the kitchen was well-equipped. There is essentially no breakfast provided (which was fine with us). I'd avoid it in summer months but it did the job for us in November.

Had a great time in Hilo. Dolphin Bay Hotel was close to Downtown so it was an easy walk. The banana bread every day was yummy and very nice that we had all the bananas and pawpaw that we want. Comfortable accommodation with a family atmosphere, we will definitely stay here again when we go to Hilo
