While our room was simple but clean, that's probably the best thing I have to say about this place. The vibe here is unpleasant. Breakfast was stingy. The driveway where you're supposed to park along with other guests is downright terrifying. If you want the screen door opened for air, you're basically sleeping in an unlocked room. We felt safe,...

We stayed at Hale Kai for four nights and would highly recommand this B&B if you are traveling to the Hilo area. Breakfast is very good with fresh local fruits and an entree fresh made every day by the owners. Rooms are not fancy but spacious and comfortabele. They all have first class sea view and a porch. The owners...

Hilo can be a bit of a challenge when it comes to the weather but this lovely B&B definitely makes up for it! It's got a unique location with ocean view and a chance to watch Hilo's surfing scene from their deck! We stayed at the Bamboo room which was a great choice with the most privacy! The room is...

Lovely B&B overlooking ocean on the outskirts of Hilo around 4 miles from the airport. Friendly welcome from Ric and Marie, then we headed the short drive up the road to Akaka falls and scenic drive. Room very comfortable, spacious with own patio. Breakfast served upstairs with other guests large selection of fresh fruits followed by freshly prepared hot dish....

My daughter and I stayed in the bamboo room for the first 4 nights of our trip. I booked a condo on the ocean in Kona for the next 5 nights. There is a comfortable feeling here that feels like home. The bed was very good and the room was very clean. We did not want to leave. Maria's breakfast...

The view, the rooms and the breakfast were all top notch. We were so fortunate to get two rooms on short notice and only stayed one night.... we would certainly have stayed longer if space was available.

I cannot say enough about how beautiful this location is! A perfect place for this lovely B&B! We stayed four nights in the Bamboo Room the first part of April. That is the room you want if you want a little more privacy - it is at the end of the row of the four rooms they have available. Be...

There is so much to see and do on this side of the Big Island. I had seen many five star ratings for Hale Kai and only one night was available during our week there. I thought if we could only stay one night it would be worth it. So glad we got to stay here. Ric welcomed my mom...

I don't think I've ever spent a more restful night listening to the tree frogs and the surf rolling in. In the mornings, the breakfasts were first-rate (cocoanut macadamia pancakes!). The views are spectacular. Maybe 10-15 minutes from downtown Hilo. Would stay here again in a heartbeat. I'd live here if I could.

Very nice place! Room was large and clean with private bathroom. Common area between the rooms had a refrigerator and microwave to use. No air conditioning but with the windows open and the ceiling fan it was very comfortable. The view couldn't have been better...right on the ocean...great for watching the whales! Breakfast was delicious and the hosts were very...
