As far as Hilo hotels go it was very good. However, if you are looking for the Ritz Carlton then you will be disappointed. We stayed in the deluxe suite and it had it's own kitchen and bathroom. While providing the basics it could have used an extreme clean and makeover. The staff however were excellent. Very friendly and helpful...

Aloha to our guests from Canada. Mahalo for your honest feedback. We are always updating our rooms and making sure our rooms are clean. We are a no frills lodge and for under $100 a night where else can you get a deal like that? We appreciate you referring us to others. Aloha

We brought 9 students and 2 faculty to Arnott's Lodge for 16 nights. It was an excellent choice for us. Very open environment, close to the beech and amenities. Great place to meet other people and lots of place to sit and talk.

I stayed in one of the private rooms and I will remember the experience of sleeping to the sound of waves crashing and frogs chirping. A rustic beach is a 5 minute walk away, where I even saw a sea turtle. The place is simple but clean. It's a few minutes outside of Hilo and so having a car was...

Good value accommodation for the price.Located in a residential area not far from town. A variety of rooms available, some have aircon and others just a fan. Rooms have a fridge. Helpful staff. Excellent Mauna Kea observatory tour- one of the best tour guides I have ever had so I recommend going on this tour.

Aloha to our guests from New Zealand. Mahalo for taking the time to review Arnott's Lodge & Hiking Adventures. We are happy to hear that you had a great experience on our Mauna Kea tour. Rooms were clean and comfortable, but can get noisy as windows are slatted and therefore can't be completely closed. Really great for the price and if you're looking for an upscale hostel type environment.

Very hard to find a good place to stay in Hilo. Our family stayed one night. Arnott's lodge staff is friendly. The rooms, beds, and bathrooms are clean, which is probably most important for us. No bugs/pests noted. The refrigerator was not plug in. Could use more fans to ventilate. Noisy at night, guests talking outside; hard to sleep. It...

We brought a group of high school students and stayed in the dorms. The lodge was incredibly helpful in setting up the appropriate reservations for our large group that would help keep costs down. The lodge is quiet and we felt very comfortable having our students stay here.

Arnott's is old fashioned Big Island hospitality. Don't expect The Ritz, but for the how affordable it was the room was comfortable, clean, spacious and just fine for our one-night stay (they appear to have many younger guests who stay for quite a spell). It's part youth-hostel, part vintage motel, part guest house. Very accommodating. We also took the tour...

We stayed 2 nights and fortunately reserved one of the rooms with a/c as it was unseasonably hot and humid. The room was pleasant and airy although the location of Arnott's is in a suburban neighborhood. The Lodge is your basic decent place to stay with the bonus of very nice people who work there.

“The suite in which we had a semi-private room had tile floor throughout so sound travelled very efficiently. If there had been others staying in the suite I probably would have used earplugs just in case others were up and about when I was sleeping, but they weren't necessary when it was only us. The bed was a bit soft, but in good condition.”
