This place is Shangri-La! It’s setting is on a hill with a view of the ocean and beautiful sunsets. The breakfasts were fantastic with local fruits from the plantation, homemade baked goods, eggs, yogurt and french toast served on the lanai porch overlooking the ocean. The rooms were beautifully decorated and the beds comfortable. The hostesses were very accommodating and knowledgeable about activities to do in the area. The pricing was excellent. I give their accommodations my highest recommendation.

We stayed in the Ka’Awa Loa Suite for two nights on our visit to the Big Island. We were drawn here by everyone’s glowing reviews and breathtaking photos of the property! This place does not disappointment! This was our first time at a bed and breakfast, and we greatly enjoyed the hospitality and still felt like we had a great deal of privacy here. The views are magnificent, the rooms are really beautiful, and the sounds of nature are unmatched anywhere we’ve been. Definitely book in advance as this place fills up— we even planned our stay in Hawaii around getting a room here!

Imagine enjoying a delicious breakfast sitting on the broad lanai of the house at Ka'awa Loa Planation. An enticing array of fruit, juices, eggs and baking fills your plate while your eyes take in the beautiful view down into the valley to the ocean. Whatever your plans for the day, items such as beach towels, coolers, sunscreen, beach chairs and umbrellas are available to borrow. Host Hannah will offer recommendations as to where to visit. Her knowledge and her breakfasts are second to none. We stayed in the cottage on the property. Although small, there was plenty of room for the two of us. The cottage will sleep 4 comfortably if two of the four are children. It would be crowded with four adults. There is a lovely small patio behind the cottage which caught the morning sun and made good spot to sit, read and admire the garden. I highly recommend staying at Ka'awa Loa when visiting South Kona. We plan to stay again on this lovely property when we next return to the Big Island.

We stayed here only two nights only with our 2 boys (it's all they had available), and it was a highlight of our trip to the Big Island of Hawaii! Not only is the view of the coast INCREDIBLE (and I mean truly breathtaking), but everything else is just heaven, including the warmest welcome from the owners Greg and Micheal, the wonderful breakfasts each morning, colorful grounds, the beautiful plantation decorated in old-style Hawaii, the comfortable rooms, the sweet and kind help (Hannah and Gabby), the fun outdoor lava rock showers with singing coqui frogs, the hot tub/steam room with ocean view.... I could go on. To just sit back in the porch rockers or lanai daybed to take in the view would be vacation enough... but there is so much to do on this island! Ka'awa Loa was the perfect place for us to end our vacation. When we return, we will undoubtedly stay here again and look forward to the pure magic of Hawaii and Ka'awa Loa. Mahalo for a truly wonderful and memorable stay!!

My son had stayed here a couple times in the past and had raved about it - he was certainly correct. We were only able to book one night even 3 months out, but our one night was fantastic. Per Michaels suggestion, we got takeout at Kona Grill up the road about 3 miles away and ate on the lanai and watched the sun set. In the dark used the hot tub and then the outdoor lava showers. We’ve never showered in a setting like that. Plants and ferns growing on the walls and around you and the coqui frogs singing to you from hollows in the walls. Wonderful fresh fruit breakfast out on the lanai in the morning. Wished we could have stayed longer.

Michael and Greg are amazing! They could not be more welcoming. We stayed in the cottage which is just spectacular. We were doing a bike tour around the big island so it’s inconvenient to go to town ,so to eat at the B and B was easy and we were able to prepare a dinner. We were able to arrange a ride to go snorkeling with Greg. They were a wealth of knowledge. they had some great policies on COVID-19 especially for breakfast. The last few years we’ve been doing Airbnb. I forgot how wonderful a well run B&B could really be. The love of their property was demonstrated so many different ways.

The photos of this beautiful property really tell the story. This is an amazing property and a lovely, peaceful place to stay. The hospitality is wonderful; the breakfast is such a highlight--a delightful spread of delicious fruit and we were served very special French toast! It was such a good experience, we are going back in January 2023. 5 stars!

A spectacular off the beaten path place to stay! Breakfast each morning was excellent and the views from the back porch while feasting on a great spread was divine. The visiting lizards were fun to watch despite their appetite for the delicious fruits! Many thanks to Hannah, Michael, Greg and Jackie for the great stay!

Wow! Staying here was the highlight of our first trip to the Big Island. We stayed in the suite and loved the sounds at night with the open-air concept in this wonderful home. We actually loved having no television so we could successfully decompress from our lives back home. Hannah is absolutely wonderful - what a wealth of knowledge about the island. Always so helpful and what an amazing hostess at breakfast. Loved the coffee and each breakfast was something we looked forward to. The view was spectacular. We unfortunately only booked 2 nights and stayed at an Airbnb the rest of our trip (which didn't even come close to this charming bed and breakfast)! We will definitely be back on our next trip to the Big Island and stay longer next time!
