We were hoping for better accommodations in the room, as we only planned to stay one night. It was windy and raining when we arrived on the island, but that happens when we decide to travel a little later in the summer season. Not much was open on the island, but the Sunset Resort is a quaint and cozy little...

Because Washington Island was originally settled by Icelandic and Scandinavian people, their descendants have carried on by serving some of the traditional food. During our vacation we made sure that we visited the resort once again for one of their wonderful breakfasts. I had a delectable breakfast called "Barkräm Pankaka," Icelandic pancakes (crepes) filled with cream and yogurt and covered...

We took a spur of the moment weekend drive and ended up on Washington Island. Walking outside at the Sunset resort felt like we were in the middle of nowhere enjoying nature. It was blissful... Beautiful views Great hosts and yummy breakfast

Staying here felt like we were staying with family. The owners are remarkably welcoming and eager to share about things to do on the island. We found the breakfast they serve DELICIOUS. They treated us as if we were family that hadn't seen each other in decades. Our children loved being here. No TVs in the rooms is a HUGE...

We stopped here for breakfast on our way to an event on the island. The breakfast restaurant is in the resort with nice views to the west and the open water. The staff were very polite. The menu is simple and you can check off what you'd like on a short selection sheet. The choices are classic Scandinavian breakfast items...

This resort has stood the test of time. It's being ran by a 7th generation of family. The facility has been well taken care of. Lee and Janice made us feel at home from the minute we walked in the door. Every room has a water view and they're cute and clean. The sunsets we experienced on their private lawn/beach...

We visited Washington Island the first of June which is before their 'season'. But the folks at Sunset made our stay most enjoyable. The resort has been in the same family for four generations. There is a sense of pride displayed from each member of the family we met. The room was older but it was impeccably clean an comfortable....

As the reviewer of another Washington Island property stated: "First of all, you have to understand that Washington Island is a retro kind of place" -- That's absolutely essential. If you are expecting night life, high-end, ultra-modern furnishing, then visit New York City. But if you want to relax and unwind among friendly people in a gorgeous natural setting this...

The family that runs this resort are very caring hosts. They respond do your needs in the most friendly and caring manner. You feel like you at home. I had a back issue and they supplied me with a back ice pack and even sent one with me for the ride home. We love the sunsets and the resort is...

This resort was great but we were not thrilled with the room and trying to sleep. Not that the room was bad, but that we could hear people going up and down the stairs, in the sitting (TV room) next to us and they had a sitting bench just under our bedroom window! We had to tell some people one...
