We called in for a drink, we sat by the log fire and had relish hot chocs, beer and wine It is very nicely decorated and comfy I would say its victorian with modern decoration. Its dog friendly too, thats a big plus for us! -even if we don't take our dog! The position is lovely for walking the dogs...

this is a lovely hotel with comfortable rooms, attractive decor, excellent food in elegant restaurant and roaring log fire in the bar but don't go if you don't like dogs! They were everywhere - in the bar, restaurant and two dogs in the room next to our bedroom. Also pictures of them all over the place. Our room was beautifully...

After a nice and long walk in the wonderful park of the estate it was time for a lunch in the beautiful renovated inn. We had a nice table and the staff was very friendly. The lunch was nearly excellent with a two course meal with traditional dishes. The first one with eggs was great the second one the venison...

We stayed here for a short break and felt that overall this is a superb venue to kick back and relax for a few days away from the strains and stresses of modern day life. Our room was very well proportioned and considering paying over 200 per night not cheap but when you see what your getting is great value...

We visited the Vic for lunch on New Years Eve. The food was excellent. I can recommend the sea bass. The service was first class too. All of the staff were friendly and helpful and very knowledgeable regarding the menu and wine list. We will definitely be going back again.

A meal out for my partner and I, and we enjoyed the evening, meals, good, service good, ambience good, and easy to find. Ben and his staff looked after us very well. The only thing I would change was I had fish for starter and the main meal, my choice, next time I'll be more adventurous 😊

I stayed as part of a shooting party and have to say that we liked everything about the hotel, it's clean and well-presented, the staff couldn't go out of their way to help you, they've always got a smile on their faces, the food was very good, as was the wine selection, my room (no.12) was lovely, it was spacious...

The wife and I had a meal on the 2nd Jan at the Vic. We had three courses our starters faggots and black pudding scotch egg were very good and good portions. But the mains duck and the pork dishes were not any thing special. I had the pork tenderloin which was very dry and quite bland the parsnip purée...

Lovely setting and views, welcoming inside, we came for lunch, planning a long leisurely one... it was not to be! Menu on the back of paper table 'mat', sounded good. On the front all the blurb about where the local fresh produce comes from which sounded good including that you could ask the staff more about each dish/ food origin...

I used to love this place and if I'm honest the staff are really letting you down!! Last time I went we asked what the burger was like and the reply was "I'm properly not the best person to ask as I only like McDonald's burgers".... that's helpful! But I decided to laugh it off but today when we went...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Standing at the gateway to Holkham and the National Nature Reserve, The Victoria is a classic English inn owned by the Coke family and managed by the Holkham Estate. There are ten elegant, indivually designed and stylish bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms. We are ready to welcome more guests in spring 2015 with the addition of a further ten bedrooms just across the road from The Victoria in one of the oldest buildings on the Holkham Estate: Ancient House. The building has been converted to provide ten additional bedrooms, including four spacious family room. The sympathetic refurbishment has retained many of the building's original features, combining authentic charm with luxurious modernity. The bar and dining rooms at The Vic offer a relaxed blend of style and comfort. We serve delicious locally sourced food, much of it grown and raised on the estate, with a bold emphasis on freshness, simplicity and value. Holkham has been a leading agricultural estate since the 1800's when Thomas William Coke bought the site and the young Queen Victoria elevated him to the peerage in recognition of his contribution to farming in 1837. The name of the proposed new inn must have been inevitable when it opened its doors in 1838. ... more   less
