Detailed Reviews
I recently stayed at the Hillcrest Motel (simplicity inn - new name) and had read the negative reviews. I needed to stay near the Marshfield Clinic because a family member was in ICU, this was the closest option. When we pulled in I was a tad skeptical because it's a bit rough outside. However, the new owners of less than a month are absolutely amazing - Darby, Brian and Harvey made our stay incredible. They are gracious hosts and went out of their way to accommodate us. They have made many improvements and are making more everyday! I hope I never have to go back to Marshfield but if I do I'm staying at the SIMPLICITY INN (Hillcrest is sold and gone).

The motel is old, I agree, but clean. The rooms have refrigerators and microwaves unlike some of the more expensive chain hotels. Can't beat the location if you need to be close to the hospital. They have hospital discounts and weekly rates. Have stayed several times in late July and August and would stay again.

My wife was hospitalized at St Josephs in Marshfield and a nurse advised me to try the Hillcrest. They give a reduced rate for people who are here because of the hospital ($35 + tax) which is
an unbelievable deal as motel prices go. The bathroom was completely remodeled and there was a new frig and microwave, also a coffeemaker and coffee.
The carpet needed replacing but it was clean and the thermostat needed repair. The room was
too hot (I had to sleep with the window open which worked fine). All in all, I was very pleased with
the room for the price I paid and would definitely stay there again.

As a travel nurse, I read reviews. After being here, I think the previous negative ones for Hillcrest came out of people expecting the Hilton at mom and pop prices. It is an older motel, but the advantages weigh out to make this perfect for me. Hillcrest is SO convenient to hospital (Across street), and other travel staff stay here, so have "instant friends" to talk to before or after a shift. I found it very clean. The owners are very friendly and often around to help. I saw that this motel mainly had hospital traveler staff, hospital patients/families,weekend vacationers, and some construction workers. I felt extremely safe here, which as a single woman, means alot. The breakfast is simple, but most older motels in area don't include anything, so it was a plus. I usually ate at hospital anyway with long shifts. If you want a fancy motel and have picky expectations, don't stay here, but if you want a simple, clean, friendly place to stay, I highly recommend the Hillcrest.

Our room was in the corner and was a large, very clean room, however that corner had very poor wifi reception. The motel is 1/2 block from the hospital so it was perfect for my day surgery and overnight stay. The rates were reduced for hospital related stays. I am happy I found it and read the reviews before booking.
Very friendly help. Basic breakfast which is the kind we like.

If all you need is a clean room across the street from the Marshfield Hospital Complex, this place is a good value. The rooms are quite dated and small, but they are clean. Outside entrance to rooms. Cereal, milk, coffee, and doughnuts are provided for breakfast. Free WiFi. Satellite/cable television has lots of channels with excellent reception. Heating system is antiquated but keeps the room warm. No frills, but a good value for the money.

Quiet hotel easy to find, but needs renovating. The bath tub was literally 12" high and in very rough shape. Rooms need better layout management the bed was up against the wall practically very little room for the person on that side to get out. Dog friendly was wonderful. You pay for what you get.

I stay at this motel every time I have appointment at Marshfield Clinic. Friendly service and rooms are worth what you pay for it. The one thing I did not like about motel is musty smell in office but now they have updated the office with laminate floor, it looks good and feels fresh. Still work in progress, so will give five star feedback after my next visit.

This is a return visit for us, our first was a year ago. The Hillcrest is under new ownership and there was a major painting project going on both inside and out. The new owner is attentive and interested in the comfort of guests and addressing any concerns. While I don't forsee any immediate updates to furnishings, I believe the property will continue to be well maintained. During both of my visits there were several hospital staff occupying rooms who were working at the hospital on temporary assignments of a couple of weeks to a few months. They were all very nice and quiet. The motel is located in a residential area but only about a mile from major shopping. This visit we stayed in a nice roomy suite. It would be great if you need to stay for more than a few nights( also has a sofa), . Rooms equipped with micro, fridge and a 4 cup coffee maker

I book this from other reviews. It is an older establishment, but I only used it to sleep. I had family in the hospital across the street. The price was right, they gave me a hospital discount. It was clean, but a bit worn down. They only had double beds, not queen. It had a refrigerator and a microwave to help with food expenses. I would stay again for the same purpose, but not for a vacation.
