A great place to relax and unwind with top notch food and accommodations. Beautiful lake location with the very best in service. Once you go, you will be back! No children! No Smoking! Great relaxing place.
Very nice couples resort. Buried in some heavy woods and thus private. Accommodations, food and service were all very good, but pretty pricy. Plenty to do for active types or couples just looking to relax.
This is a quiet, personal space in a nature setting away from the normal rush. This is a five star luxury retreat (a Relais & Chateaux property) – a 300 acre forested country estate 10 miles from a four-lane highway. There is a picturesque small...More
My now wife, then girlfriend spent a long weekend here. It was very quiet and we were never bothered. The cabin was super nice, well equipped and cozy. I proposed here.

What fascinates me to no end, is how many people in this world are thrilled about spending $600/night to stay in a tiny wood cabin. I am definitely going to look into building something like this as a retirement project since sooooo many people are...More

Hi there! I'm happy to answer this for you. There is not a whole lot to do at Canoe Bay itself. If the weather is nice, you can swim, canoe, and kayak. There is a really nice library with a ton of books to peruse or borrow (I picked one up one the widow behind Veuve Cliquot Champagne) as well as an impressive range of DVDs. I brought fun bath stuff from Lush and had a mini "spa" afternoon after a picnic and a swim. There are also many miles of easy walking/hiking trails.
As for the area, Chetek doesn't seem to have a whole lot to offer. There are some antique stores in town, a few casual restaurants, and not a whole lot else. I enjoy old fashioned downtowns though so a stroll would be fun in my book. Chetek is probably more rustic than charming though.
My suggestion on your way down would be to stop at the Leinenkugel Brewery in Chippewa Falls for a tour and beer tasting. Canoe Bay is about 20/30 minutes North of Eau Claire/Chippewa Falls. If you go in the Fall, there are also lots of apple orchards in the area which are fun to visit.
Overall, Canoe Bay will probably be more about relaxing and enjoying the beautiful grounds, accommodations, and fine dining. I hope this helps!
