Crystal Waters Eco Village is set in 650 acres of bushland at the headwaters of the Mary River, only 26kms from Maleny. The privately owned village includes residential and cooperatively owned commercial properties designed along Permaculture principles, and is home to a wide variety of local flora and fauna. The Crystal Waters Community Cooperative is the social and economic arm of the village management and provides facilities for visitors to participate in and experience the village life. To appreciate what Crystal Waters has to offer, we recommend taking a guided tour, or staying with one of our accommodation providers. These include the Village Camping Area, a great place to get away, which has camping, bunkhouse and cabin options. The Crystal Waters Country Market, held on the first Saturday each month, is renowned for its friendly and relaxed community atmosphere, live music from local artists and idyllic rural setting at the gateway to the Mary Valley. Children enjoy the play area. Chat with the stall holders about their local produce & handcrafted wares. Among them you'll find fresh organic veggies, sourdough bread direct from the wood-fired oven, cakes, dips, plants, seedlings, honey, clothing, massage, reflexology and bric a brac, delicious meals, snacks, chai and coffee.

Detailed Reviews
Crystal Waters Eco village nestled in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland was the most peaceful and idyllic location I’ve stayed in so far on Vanlife travels. The park is set amongst beautiful scenery with an abundance of wildlife stopping by to say hi. Facilities are clean and the community kitchen is very cute and everything you need to cook up a lovely meal or bbq is supplied. Just bring your food and you’re good to go. Excellent wifi in the kitchen area. The hosts are very friendly and welcoming. Pop on down to village green to the Flowerpot Cafe or Sourdough Bakery. Or go for a dip in the beautiful creeks or ponds. Be aware it is Land for Wildlife so no doggies or cats are allowed. Great price for what they offer. Peace and quiet, we’ll set out private campsites. Highly recommend.

Loved my stay here. I was so sick of camping in the tent or car, so was lovely to stay in the dorm instead.
Well set out, clean camping and caravan area, with great camp kitchen, hot showers and very friendly, helpful managers.
$12/nt camping unpowered, $25/nt dorm/ person
$3/nt use of cramp kitchen, with power and Wi-Fi.
Definitely coming back next year.

It was certainly a very special holiday for us. It was our first Christmas away from both our families and Greg and Aicha just made us feel like home. Warm and friendly place, inspiring connections, wild nature. We will be definitely coming back soon ❤️

We arranged via email camping we where emailed the site number after we had left home, so with no internet it was impossible to find the manager site. It is a dirt track in and out only single vehicle, definitely not suitable for any time of teardrop or camping van. The amenities are disgustingly filthy I cannot imagine the last time they were actually cleaned, the camp kitchen was covered in dirty dishes and god knows what else. I would recommend this place as a free camp but not at $15 per person per night for amenities we couldn't use, had shower elsewhere. The worst camp site I have ever been too!

we read reviews that said the maket at crystal waters was a great place to visit and that the bakery had great croissants so we decided to have a day trip from Brisbane ( a two hour drive) The scenery along the way was beautiful so we were very excited.
Upon arrival we joined a very long queue for coffee and food at the bakery. we assumed because the line was so long that the reviews must be right. Even in Brisbane I have never waited as long for coffee. We also had two croissants and a Danish. The croissants are tiny, over cooked on the outside and raw dough on the inside;not nice. The staff in the bakery looked like they didnt know what they were doing, very disorganized. I can say next time I will be finding another place to go

3rd visit in a decade, hoping for that magic that was rumoured to be there.
It wasn't.
There was 1 good stall staffed by entertaining couple prepared to engage with the passing people and demonstrate their offerings.
Most of the other stallholders "couldn't give a stuff" and engaged each other, in huddles with their backs to the potential purchasers.
Hmmm!

This was truly a disappointment. We stayed at the caravan park, a very run down place with limited facilities. The worst was the bed. We stayed in the cabin ($72 per night for 2 people) and had to leave at 3 am as the double bed was like a rock. We brought our own linen as to hire would have cost more. Small room, very poorly ventilated. There was a door in the bedroom to the outside but no screen door so it had to stay closed. Walked into the ladies bathroom and had to pick my way around the vomit on the floor. The whole place is in a state of disrepair, I would be embarrassed to bring overseas visitors to this place. Trees are overgrown, nearly went for a topple on the loose bricks outside our cabin several times, picture propped up on top of a cupboard instead of a simple act of hanging up on a picture hook. The cabin could have been made to feel more welcoming, but it reeked of "she'll be right mate" attitude. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, as it stands at the moment.

The camping area looking to the lake is beautiful but look back around behind the camp area is an ecological disaster, overgrown with lantana and a sad sight with broken down structures, and the camp area has been over run with permanent campers sadly bordering on homelessness.
The village area was great. Just a shame about the camping area. I am sure this was not the intent of the founders to let the land degrade with invasive weeds and more permanent than casual stayers.

Thank you Garry for your review. We understand your concerns, but remember there are many good aspects about Crystal Waters, and you mentioned some. Many residents and volunteers continue to work on issues such as weed growth and lantana and we have regular working bees.... There are over 600 acres to consider where to put effort and energy. On the other concern you raised, I'd like to point out that almost every Caravan Park/Camping area in Australia has semi-permanent Residents. Are you aware of the extreme challenges many people face in Australia are under with Rental costs and extreme lack of rental accommodation? There IS a housing crisis! Our EcoPark semi-permanents are actually there by choice, every one of them loves where they live! They also contribute to diversity in our Community. Thank you for bringing up these points, have a great day!

It's small but had that authentic day out for the family vibe. Cool live music. Decent coffee yummy treats. Great second hand clothes. Not so much a farmers market, although a few choices. More of a lovely day out. And check out the surrounds. The eco village is a very cool place.

Our first time here for a "group" family celebration. Spent two days/nights. Enjoying the wonderful facilities of the Village. As well as Camping and using onsite Cabin facilities, within the Park. I was seriously impressed. The perfect mix of all that you need with true quality/luxury....but not overdoing it, so that you are still left with that authentic, organic energetic feel of nature at its best.....& that desired smaller footprint. At the Eco Park accommodation site, we booked the more self sufficient cabin with kitchenette, and fold out lounge. SAT night was so cold, the oil heater was appreciated. Impressed with Onsite manager Greg and partner who have created such a clean, simple but special space. We were able to enjoy the Eco Village's facilities for the celebrations. Spacious well designed deck, the kitchen on offer is absolutely first rate. The location really is beautiful. Each late afternoon and early morning we saw numerous kangaroos with family grazing close by. Keen to return.

"The bunkhouse where we stayed is a wonderful, elevated, wooden structure which could potentially be noisy if full, or occupied by children. For the record it wasn't noisy, nor full the nights we staid. I think camping in your own tent of van (or the one cabin) would be the go if you want to guarantee a very quiet night - the surroundings are totally peaceful and full of nature."Read full review
