A little late but my husband and I stayed here back in August and fell in love with everything Shepherdstown had to offer, including the Bavarian Inn. We took advantage of the incredible infinity pool and the main restaurant. We absolutely loved the food at the restaurant (most

The four star review is for the Inn overnight stays, not the dining. The stairs were horrid. The staff did mention them when I booked but I had no idea that they would be steep, cement, and outside with freezing cold metal banisters. The room itself was perfect. Balcony

We have always have beautiful rooms and outstanding service, but the new lounge, brew room and infinity pool put the Bavarian over the top. We can't wait to return. This visit my husband had a medical emergency during a snow storm, and I can't thank the staff and owners enough

Planned a surprise weekend getaway for boyfriend. This is a really cute place, very different from anything in the Virginia, Maryland area. Stayed in the superior king with fire place and jacuzzi tub. Great view and room was very clean . But... it’s very dated, could use some

Solid Bavarian cooking. Really done well! Great choice for wintertime appetites. Service very professional. Varied menu. Great location with great views of the river. Not in town per se, but closest enough that you can walk or drive.

No, it is a lovely Inn.I understand it is historic, also. I have had experience myself with the feeling of places being haunted (Harper's Ferry, for instance) but nothing of this sort at the Bavarian Inn. I agree with the previous poster who noted that the nearby Antietam Battlefield could very well have some. I know I encountered some very "interesting" experiences at Gettysburg, also. I think the scenes of such horrible battles are rife with this.

Yes we do allow scooters for the handicapped, but please be aware, not all or our rooms are handicapped accessible. We do have handicapped rooms in our Schwartzwald building and one of our Chalets overlooking the Potomac is accessible. Our dining area is handicapped accessible as is our Infinity Pool, which is open from May through September. If we can answer any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact us. Thank you for asking. The Turndown service is done in the early evening. Your comforter and folded down for you, lights are dimmed in your room, your radio is turned on to a soothing station, towels are refreshed, garbage is emptied and your fireplace is turned on (weather appropriate) and a chocolate is left on your pillow. Basically, just a little bit of pampering. If I can answer any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact us at 304.876.2551. Kindly, Cynthia Schott Front Desk Manager

The Bavarian Inn has attractive grounds and great views of the area. Also, an infinity pool looks down to the river and would appeal to a child just because it is a pool. The tow path along the river is excellent for bike riding and walking, with mostly shaded atmosphere from the large trees. You could actually ride all the way to Harpers Ferry if you can handle it. Sheperdstown is a quaint little town with restaurants and museums.
