Place was clean, retro cool. All amenities we needed for a night. Guy at check in was very nice. Only 3 stars because we had no hot water. By the time we discovered it the office was closed until 10am and we were out by then. I'm hoping this was an isolated incident and I would try there again but ice cold showers are not fun.
What a great little place to stay! The decor is definitely retro, but the rooms have all the modern touches--flat-screen TV, microwave, refrigerator. There's even a charging station for electronics, and wi-fi is available. Picnic tables and other outdoor seating are available. Since it's along a fairly busy 2-lane highway, there is some traffic noise, but things quieted down at night and we had no trouble sleeping. The rooms were spotless. As if all of that isn't good enough, the price is right--around $70 per night.
You might think, a cheap motel? Yes, but it's cleaner and way cooler (kooler!) than any other motel you've ever been to.
If you're just passing through or planning on being nearby in this area, I implore you to stay here!
The owners clearly love this place. Their website is surprisingly modern, and when I called at 10pm (they "close" at 10:30pm) the gentleman I spoke to was extremely pleasant and chipper while taking my reservation. I couldn't say I'd be as chipper so very late and near the end of my shift!!
Checkin was a breeze and they showed me how they'd prefer us to park in front of the units. Again, they care very much about this place even down to how you park.
Other than a few very, very minor dings in some furniture (which is of a certain era), I strained to find ONE STAIN OR SCUFF in the entire room. Rooms were incredibly clean and well-kept. If you love mid-century modern decor, this place is for you.
Bed is firm so that's good if that's your style. Room-provided fridge, microwave, and TV all worked well. Shower had good water pressure. Each room has a pair of super cool retro chairs outside. We enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles well into the night out front, but you will get a whiff of your neighbors' cigarette smoke if they are out there.
Don't let the shag carpet or mint green bathroom porcelain fool you. Everything is super clean. Even the ancient A/C worked well!
The grounds are well taken care of, although it's right along the road so you will get road noise, even if you are in the rooms higher up on the hill.
Absolutely love this place, it's such a unique find in the middle of nowhere.
(PSA: Koolwink mugs are only $4 and available at the office! We took some home as souveniers!)
Clean, easy, convenient. On a long motorcycle trip and the motel came at the right time after a challenging ride. Pulled right up to our room, unloaded for the night and took a break. Very retro and a nice surprise in a small town.
We had a pleasant room in the annex building, which was built into a hillside so that no stairs were involved, even though we were on the second floor. The furniture was of good quality for a motel; the armchairs were especially comfortable. I liked the bed, though I did put a mattress pad on it. My husband, who did not use a pad, found it a bit too firm. There was good water pressure. But we were especially impressed by the soundproofing. When my husband went out to the car, he came back and reported that a large group of people were having a party at an outside picnic table just below and to the right of our room. But I hadn't heard any of it in the room and I still couldn't even after I knew about it. I did hear something or other that made a soft "wunk-wunk" noise all night; I think it was an air-conditioning unit. But it wasn't bothersome.
