Our guidebooks had mentioned this hotel, and as we always enjoy staying in period buildings with character we sought it out. No-one else was staying the night we were there so we had a free choice of rooms, and took two interconnecting ones on the first floor (British usage!). The decor is somewhat overwhelming, and I doubt I could live...

Had a romantic and wonderful stay at the Starrett Mansion for Valentines. The rooms are clean, decorated perfectly with period furniture. The entry way and grand staircase is unlike any I have ever seen. Richard was friendly and accommodating for our needs. I would recommend this hotel for a Port Townsend getaway.

We recently stayed here after finding everything else booked in Port Townsend. We booked it based on the fact they had an opening and it looked relatively nice. After booking, we read some of the reviews and were a little worried what we might find. We arrived to find a quaint Victorian in a nice little neighborhood. The woman who...

In a tranquil neighborhood, beautifully landscaped and elegantly appointed, this old house is beautiful to look at, if a little down at the heel, and the rates are quiet reasonable. The walls are sadly thin, and we were barraged by conversations in two of the adjoining rooms.

My husband and I recently stayed here and were disappointed. I guess you get what you pay for. The hotel was really in need of a make over. The property is up for sale and it seemed that the owners didn't want to put any more money into it prior to a sale. The furniture was in need of reupholstering,...

My wife and I stayed in the gables room #10 on July 14 & 15, 2012. Having seen many of the reviews on this site, we were concerned about what we might find in this Mansion. We planned our trip a little close to our departing date and this location was one of the few available. When we arrived it...

The Ann Starrett Mansion in Port Townsend, Washington is a marvelous example of Victorian architecture from the turn of the century. The history behind the house is equal to its magnificent interior which features a spiral staircase honed by local shipbuilders of that era. Our room was nicely appointed and clean. There are views of the sound. Bathtub was in...

We stayed in the Garden room on July 8 and 9. We made a last minute reservation and were able to get a room. The Garden room is on the ground floor, was nicely decorated, quiet and clean. Although we had a car, you could walk to downtown if you wanted. The night manager was very nice and helpful with...

LOVED IT. We did not at all have an experience similar to those who have written negative reviews. In fact, we were prepared for the worst after reading some of the reviews...and were completely confused by them after our stay. We stayed in the Gables Suite and had a lovely time. We felt welcome, the mansion was clean and orderly,...

I chose the Ann Starrett because I have a love of Victorian houses.....and it definitely fits the bill....the architecture is breathtaking......Ann must have been quite a lady to have a home like this as a gift......however to stay in it now leaves many things to be desired. The Innkeeper was very nice on the phone and even had to stay...
