Chose this place for the waterfront room, the location was great, few blocks from main downtown street and good restaurants, could watch the ferry come and go. BUT, it has the most interesting suite of furniture...something between bordello and Disney, molded resin maybe. Clean enough,...More
The Tides Inn offers very nice rooms with a view of the water in Port Townsend, WA. The rooms we have been in had a great two person jaccuzzi and a gas fireplace. The bed was comfortable. This is a Victorian Inn in a Victorian...More
We loved our stay at Tides Inn. The room had a nice balcony where we could watch the boats, water, and sunrise. The breakfast was good, and the location is close enough to town to walk, which we like to do.
Knowing there aren't many modern places to stay in Port Townsend, the Inn was a wonderful surprise. The rooms are a little bit old and tired, but the staff is super friendly and the views of Puget Sound are outstanding. I'll return on my next...More

Regarding the two queen-bed, dog friendly room with a deck, I understand it is in the older section of the hotel, which other visitors warn against staying in. Is it reasonably quiet and does it have a view from the deck? Since it is on the ground floor, is there a lot of noise from above and from the ferry?

Thank you for your interest in Tides Inn. The 2 queen, dog-friendly room does have a water-view and a small patio off of the entry door. It is part of our original building which is more like a traditional beach front inn with exterior entrance. The rooms are dated, but it is clean with a charming feel.
Also, the room is reasonably quiet as it is on the water-side of the building and not the street side. The room is on the ground floor and that section of the room is a single story with no rooms above the room. Finally, there is no noise factor from the ferry to be concerned about.
