My husband and I needed a proper break. We needed peace and quiet, a comfortable bed, tranquil surrounds. We didn't want to cook or bring our sheets, and we didn't want to have to think at all. He wanted to switch off completely, I needed to focus on my new venture so I needed wifi. We wanted to be able to do as much as we felt like, or as little as we felt like. We wanted walks and water, beautiful surroundings and an intuitive host. And we wanted a couple of great massages. And we found all of that at The Escape, and more. This was our second visit to the Escape and we were not disappointed. Everything was still of the highest standard. Hosts Colin and Lucille Bailie are the perfect hosts - and Colin is an outstanding chef. The food at The Escape is simply

We stayed in a "tent" for 2 nights, but it was so much more than that. Beautiful timber room with a canvas roof and rainwater tank converted into a external bathroom. The rooms were lovely, the food was 5-star "hatted" amazing, the views were serene and the staff (Chris and Colin plus doggies) were so friendly. Lots of chill out time and activities to do on the river. I'm a busy person normally but it was so nice to just leave that behind and just sit on the deck to read. The road there was corrugated so can be a bit rough and you do have to drive across a river so check the tides. There are no power points in the tents either. Was a particularly stinking hot day but the river cooled us off. Would love to visit again in winter for a different experience.

We enjoyed 2 restful, relaxing and indulgent nights at the studio. Col and Lucy had organised a masseuse to come to our studio on arrival so that was a perfect start we then enjoyed an excellent 3 course dinner. The second day began with French toast, caramelised banana, bacon and maple syrup and coffee. So yummy!! We then went down to the River and utilised the complimentary SUPs and swam. It is so tranquil. A gorgeous salad of haloumi, chorizo and tomatoes for lunch with wine overlooking the river. Idyllic. We scored a Panna Cotta with our lunch as Col had a couple to spare. It was delicious. Another sensational dinner that evening. The food was at premium restaurant standards. Very impressive. Breakfast the following day was scrambled eggs, avocado, tomatoes and smoked

It would be easy to say nothing about this magnificent place?? Why? Only so it can be kept secret from the masses and would always be easy to secure a booking for a few days!! The Escape makes you feel as though you are visiting with good personal friends Who have a beautiful country retreat The welcome, The little personal touches, The food and its presentation, Layback conversations in the lounge or around the camp fire, Attention to every detail The tents and their ultra comfortable beds, glorious views, Uber ensuites!! Wildlife, The stars at night Its hard to beat for a total wind down and relax No or minimal phone reception is perfect And you need to remember you are actually camping!? Well "Glamping" So the fact that there is no power points in your tent or in the
