Open grassy campsites along the Clyde river, great for swimming, SUPS, yaks. Kids had a ball in and on the river. Beautiful spot for a peaceful paddle, a big camp fire and a quiet beer around the fire.

Lovely owners, friendly and good for a chat.

Bring a spade and some dunny wrap unless you have a strong stomach for well frequented portaloos, although I’ve seen scarier dunnys in some pubs on a Saturday night.

Only regret is that we didn’t bring rods, river is full of both salt and fresh species.

Will be back, great spot.

We had the most amazing weekend at the escape for our 2 year anniversary. It was such a unique experience renting one of the tents and feeling so close to all the beautiful sounds of nature surrounding us. Particularly since we come from Sydney where leaving ur bedroom window open leaves you to the beautiful sounds of honking traffic and yelling drunks. So it was amazing to be at the escape and be around complete silence except for the gentle sounds of the river moving past or the chirping of the birds. We have never felt so relaxed. And simply by doing nothing we felt we were doing so much. We made use of the kayaks and had a good trip down the river and back. We also got the indulgence pack and got to have massages in our tents - this was a true experience as a massive storm rolled through in the afternoon whilst this occurred and it made the experience all the most noteworthy. Colin was so amazingly hospitable. His food was outstanding!!! Every meal was so amazing it's hard to even describe escept to tell people to get on down and try it for yourself.

We really had the most romantic "escape" and amazing experience with Colin and his family. And I even had such a great time I wanted to go back the following weekend (except they were booked out). I would highly recommend this place to people looking to unwind (get rid of those laptops and iPhones) and just take time to appreciate that special someone.

My girlfriend and I wanted a chilled-out "escape" from the city for New Years, and what we experienced was a truly amazing stay! Set in beautiful national park situated on a tranquil river, you couldn't ask for a better location to simply sit back, relax and recharge your batteries!

The food was incredible, the service and attention to detail impeccable, the whole experience exceeded our expectations!

A huge thank-you to Colin! His hospitality and charm certainly makes it a hard place to leave, so much in fact that I nearly forgot to settle up at the end, nearly.....!

We have already recommended The Escape to friends and would encourage anyone wanting a relaxing, unique get-away to book, you will not be disappointed!!

The escape was the most relaxing experience we have had from reality
The accommodation was excellent, the host Colin and his side kick chris were great, friendly, accommodating and the food was 5 star.
The food was to die for
What an amazing experience
My wife and I went there for a baby moon and she didn't even need the massage as we were so relaxed within 10 mins of being here.
I would definitely recommend it to anyone around the world.
Thank you Colin for everything.

My husband and I stayed at "the Escape" last November for a week, has to be one of the most relaxing weeks we have had. Colin's cooking expertise is amazing, serving innovative meals every day, either in the dining room, on the deck or around the fire. The tents are so comfortable, very private with large decks with views of the surrounding bush and river. We enjoyed kayaking, swimming in the river and some amazing walks. Colin, Lucille and Finn's hospitality was warm and welcoming, cannot wait to go back!

"You,camping?!!" your friends may exclaim incredulously as did ours when we told them we were going to spend three days, including New Year's Eve,by the banks of the Clyde River in a tent.Well let me reassure you this was no ordinary tent, and certainly no ordinary campsite.
The whole experience at The Escape is conducive to just that, escape.Escape from the noise and hustle and bustle of the city to be replaced by the sounds of kookaburras and bell birds, among many others I couldn't name, lush green bush, towering eucalypts, mobs of kangaroo and of course the cooling, serene waters of the river. You sleep in oh so comfortable beds cocooned in your "tent". You have an adjacent well appointed bathroom and a deck to relax on.And of course you have Colin and his friendly, helpful team to look after you.
Did I mention the food? That alone would be worth a visit.Beautifully presented, thoughtful and delicious--and the coffee's good too!
You can use your time just for relaxation or revel in the river, swimming, kayaking, stand up boarding in peace and tranquillity.
Getting to The Escape does require negotiating unsealed roads and a causeway crossing. This was no problem, paying attention to the tides,in our two wheel drive vehicle.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning.

My wife and I recently stayed at The Escape for our anniversary. The overall experience was exceptional, from the moment we arrived until the second we left. The 5 star tents were very comfortable and well appointed with great decks and views, the food was as good as it gets, 3 chef hats from me (I think the good food guide needs to give Colin an award!), and the wines recommended matched perfectly with the meals. Colin and Lucille are simply lovely hosts, very friendly, nothing was ever too much trouble, it was just great chatting with them during the meals, around the fire pit or when we were just lounging about. The location is quite unique and captures stunning views of the Clyde River, with easy access to the river, I spent plenty of time on the paddle boards and swimming in crystal clear water. Its also an easy 20-25 minute drive to the coast, so I was also able to enjoyed some crowd free surfing around Bawley Point.

We had a fantastic weekend away, the only disappointment was having to leave! Thanks for such a great experience guys, we will be back!

Just spent an amazing 3 nights at The Escape. With 2 teenagers it is always hard to find a holiday destination that pleases everyone. Whilst they were not convinced when I announced we were going "glamping" from the minute we got there there were smiles on everyone's faces. We were met by 'Billie' the dog who then spent much of the next 3 days accompanying us around the property. We enjoyed kayaking on The Clyde River, going for walks surrounded by the local kangaroos & generally just relaxing. The " tents" are well equiped with queen bed & fold out double bed. The Studio is very spacious with queen bed, fold out double bed & room for one more. Both The Studio & "tents" have amble deck room to sit an enjoy the view. The rates at The Escape include breakfast, lunch & dinner. Every meal that was served was absolutely delicious. Colin is a fantastic cook & all the food was 5 star quality. The whole family enjoyed every mouthful. This is an amazing, peaceful place to stay & I would highly recommend it to anyone.

A huge thank you to Colin and Lucille for establishing this idyllic paradise as an escape for us all to enjoy. We had two nights away with friends at The Escape for two important birthdays, and I cannot imagine a better way to celebrate the occasions. The site is simply stunning, set on the picturesque Clyde River and surrounded by beautiful bushlands. The accommodation and facilities are luxurious, with meticulous attention to details that make you feel pampered, but which have a simplicity that allows you to truly escape the modern world and immerse yourself in the environment around you. Relax on a sunbed on the tent balcony with a book under a plush blanket as the river flows by. Relax with a paddle in one of the available kayaks or with a swim in the pristine waters. Relax with a bushwalk amongst the wallabies which inhabit the expansive property. Relax with a glass of wine in a bath overlooking the valley. Just relax. It was hard not to!

But, as lovely as the accommodation was, it was the hospitality that truly made the experience special. Colin and Lucille were generous, welcoming hosts who were determined to ensure that our stay was everything that we wanted it to be. Colin is an exceptionally talented chef, determined to source the finest, freshest local produce (our oysters came out of the river waters that very morning) and prepare them simply and deliciously, and he is eager to proudly explain from where he has sourced it all. Each and every dish was a delightful surprise. Lucille ensured that the booking process was smooth and easy, and was warm and ready for a chat at every opportunity.

Put together, The Escape had everything anyone could possibly want for in a weekend away. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

My partner and I stayed at Lucille and Colin's Escape resort for three nights in autumn. We absolutely loved the ambience, set up, location by the river and their warm hospitality. The food is one of the best kept secrets of the south coast. Colin plates up impressive meals cooked with dedicated passion and love.
Kayak on the tranquil river added to the whole experience.
