My mother brought me here as a surprise birthday trip and it was everything I could have wished for. The sweet little cabin on the waterfront offered so much peace and quiet. I am a birder and loved watching all the ducks and other birds that frequented the bay. The binoculars on the windowsill were the perfect touch for cold... More

Thank you so much, aksalmongirl, for the glowing, thoughtful review. We're so glad you enjoyed Spring Bay to the fullest, birds and all. We bought this property over 20 years ago to keep it undeveloped and natural, perfect as-is, so when a guest truly appreciates it, we fill especially fulfilled. Hope to take you on the kayak tour soon. Happy... More

We absolutely loved our stay at the secluded cabin on Spring Bay. Fresh flowers and homemade cookies welcomed us to this cozy cabin with every amenity needed for a joyous and relaxing visit. The hiking trails are wonderful and we loved our kayak tour, which included seal harbor, river otter, kingfisher, and eagle sightings. This may be my favorite place... More

We stumbled upon the cabin's web site (www.springbayinn.com) by chance. The inn is no longer open but the owners rent out a cozy cabin near the inn. We were amazed at the peacefulness and beauty of this place. We enjoyed rekindling our love for one another here. There is a hot tub that looks out onto the private beach which... More

Found out they have their own trails . we enjoyed hiking on 5 miles of maintained picturesque forested trails. Our friends had the cabin owner marry them here too. Made for a cool, small wedding. Cabin is clean and came with everything we could have needed. Also reserved time with owner for a private kayak tour. Magical time here!

A peace of heaven at a cabin set in a amazing spot. The owners live near by and are great resources for island information. They also give guided kayak tours that are fun and something they provide all the equipment for. They also do weddings and happy to say they officiated my wedding on their beach!

I just returned from a weekend on Orcas Island and I stayed here for two nights. The cabin was clean, warm, and well-stocked. Sandy took us kayaking on short notice and we had a great time. She knew all about the weather, the currents, the parks, and the local life. Both Carl and Sandy were very warm and welcoming but... More

We renewed our vows and stayed two nights here for our fifth anniversary. Our stay couldn't have been any better! We had a snafu with our pet-sitting arrangements and Sandy was so helpful in pointing us to a solution on the island (Eastsound Kennels, which is also great). We had a special little ceremony on the water's edge (Sandy officiated,... More

I hate to even write a review, because I'd like to keep this hidden gem all to myself. My husband and I spent our wedding night here along with two additional nights. The cabin was perfect. It was 'off the beaten path' so we could truely get away. Sandy officiated our wedding and Carl played guitar. They will always be... More

We did not stay at the Inn but wanted to review the Kayaking that was offered at Spring Bay. Our stay with Carl and Sandy was so educational and relaxing. We were greeted warmly by Carl showing his sincere care for our stay and inviting us to have warm refreshments he had finished baking. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to Spring Bay on Orcas Island. Our 57 secluded acres and private bay are a naturalist's haven. Orcas Island is where tree meets sea. Hundreds of islands, large and small and covered by old-growth evergreen, make up the archipelago of the San Juan Islands in northwest Washington state. Orcas is known to visitors for its laid back nature, its unparalleled beauty, and our preference for quality things over a quantity of them. We offer three niche services at Spring Bay: The Cabin on Spring Bay vacation rental, sea kayak touring, and small weddings. We invite you to experience the wonder of the place we call home while you stay in the waterfront cabin or come with us on a tour of these islands the best way they can be experienced, on the sea itself. We have been celebrating abiding love for decades, and we are honored to be a part of your wedding ceremony. At this retreat on Orcas Island, vacation rental guests can explore shoreline, wetland, and forest by foot, kayak, or rowboat. Afterward, enjoy soaking in the waterfront hot tub, or simply relax in comfort in the cabin or outside on the 40-foot deck mesmerized by the wide-open view of evergreen islands that seem to float upon the sea. Our goal is to provide you with whatever you need during your stay, but to leave you in the seclusion and peace of your own cabin. Hiking trails link Spring Bay's dozens of wooded acres to adjacent Obstruction Pass State Park, creating a 5-mile system of trails right outside your front door. We have preserved these acres so they may be enjoyed by naturalists and those who need the solace of seclusion. Spring Bay is an ideal place to elope. Your hosts have officiated and provided musical accompaniment for hundreds of small weddings and are proud to provide that service to ALL couples right here on the Spring Bay property. Since the Inn closed several years ago, guests of the Cabin are the only guests on the 57-acre property. You have private use of the hot tub, outdoor grill, beach picnic table and campfire area. The Cabin can accommodate 3 people maximum, and is ideal for a romantic hideaway, couples with one child, sibling getaways, and solo retreats. Guests can arrange a kayak tour that launches a few grassy steps from your front door to the beach. Happy trails from Spring Bay. ... more   less
