A national Sierra Club group stayed at the Basecamp for 5 nights during the week of June 19. Kim and Steve are wonderful hosts. They, and on one hike their 2 children, accompanied us on two hikes and gave us informative talks about the local history, geology, and botany. Their meals are wonderful. Their 20 acres have a lot of...

The Basecamp is superbly located to explore the Methow Valley ski trails. There is a trail right outside the front door. It is also not far from Mazama town. This is a place for someone who truly wants to explore and get to know not just the area but also the people. The Basecamp is run as a family style...

This was our 2nd New Year's in the Octagonal Cabin (which, hilariously, has only 6 sides). Everything was wonderful for our family of 5 (three small kids). Outstanding skiing, sledding, game playing, movie watching. The Bondis were super helpful in pointing out the local 'ski camp' for our 9 year old, the ski rodeo (New Year's Day races), and other...

We stayed one night on our way between Seattle and Winthrop since we wanted to see something of North Cascades National Park but had limited time. The park itself is of course beautiful with soaring peaks and ridges all around. The narrow and winding "Lake Diablo" and "Lake Ross" are not natural lakes but reservoirs to supply power to Seattle....

Our "family" of 12 mountaineer friends used North Cascades Basecamp as our headquarters for 5 days of day hiking, kayaking, horseback riding, birding, and fishing. Every morning there was a perfect breakfast array and dinners, all by prior arrangement, were healthful, local, and delicious. My wife and I enjoy rustic so we were perfectly at ease in the well laid...

I was one of a 12-person group, mostly Mountaineers, who stayed here for 4-5 nights. The location is amazing - don't miss the Hosts' nature talk for the site's uniqueness. This is a very comfortable lodge for a large group. We hiked local trails and went horseback riding, fishing, and kayaking. While the valley had an unusual heat wave, part...

We just returned from a super fun visit to this special spot in Mazama, WA. Owners Kim and Steve Bondi are warm, hospitable, enthusiastic hosts. The accommodations are comfortable and cozy and although non are en suite the shared bathrooms are convenient and ample. We stayed at the North Cascades Base Camp for a couple of nights prior to a 6 day backcountry trip in NCNP. We felt right at home from the minute we arrived as the owners and staff were very friendly and laid back. We stayed in the cabin which had comfortable beds and a full kitchen. The owners gave us...

After reading some of the other reviews, it's clear that the reader should take into account the type of traveler a reviewer is (or is not) and their resulting expections. I tend to be an adventurous, outdoor oriented traveler. We spent a couple of nights in the Cabin (rather than the lodge) prior to our recent backpacking trip in NCNP...
