The main room was spacious and clean. The bathroom was tiny.
Unfortunately, there was no kitchen sink. The only sink was in the bathroom; it was so tiny that washing dishes was difficult.
The car park is not flat.
There is an outdoor sitting area and a play area for small children.
Friendly and helpful staff.

We stayed here as the location suited our purpose of going to Hahndorf, Victor Harbor and the Barossa Valley. The staff were friendly and the room was clean. There was also plenty of parking, though sometimes the parking spots felt a little narrow.
The motel is very basic and a good price, but there is no room service or breakfast etc. There are facilities to cook toast and make tea and coffee.
The beds were ok, but the room can get noisy if you forget to close the windows above the door. The motel is located along the main motorway into Adelaide, so it is busy with many trucks using this route.
There is also free WiFi available.

We were not expecting much - you get what you pay for - but we were willing to put up with a cruddy room after a long drive to adelaide. First impression was what a crappy run down building... We opened the door and couldn't believe our eyes! Yes the room itself could do with some maintenance - mostly due to idiotic guests jumping on beds and damaging cieling I think, but the actual service and cleanliness is great, spotless linen, little things like dish liquid, fairly new appliances, and the most comfortable motel bed I've ever slept on! We certainly regretted spending the rest of our trip with the relatives - next time we will be booking in here for the whole trip!
As I said- the building itself could do with a tidy up, but the cleanliness and personal friendly service more than make up for it.

I have been a guest of the Tollgate Motel for the past one week, and have nothing but positive comments - (in relation to the excellent hospitality of the owners, quality and cleanliness of the rooms provided, free wi-fi and excellent value for money. Further, the Motel is within very close proximity to the CBD, with nearby convenience shops, such as OTR, Hungry Jacks etc.... Close to bus stop(s)... Also, it is excellent value for money. You couldn't stay in a better place if you're coming to Adelaide :)

This hotel advertising is false...This needs to be updated. The rooms are nothing like the photos. The management/Owners have changed and it's become run down and neglected. The rooms are dirty, moldy and smell of smoke. The beds and pillows are stained and disgusting. The managers are rude and obnoxious. This place is a bio Hazard. It should be condemned.

What an absolute shocker! I’ve never been treated so appallingly and made feel that the abominable state of this whole establishment was somehow my fault. The management have no hospitality skills whatsoever and couldn’t run a bath. They are rude because they don’t have a clue. I wouldn’t let them run a dog kennel. The housekeeping staff are terrible, they resent being asked to do anything and have again got no idea what their role is and definitely no concept of cleanliness. Don’t stay here it’s a traumatic experience.

The beds and bedding were very clean. The location was handy for us and the traffic noise although noticable was not too bad, however that is where the positives ended. The fridge handle and rubber were full of old crumbs. The kettle stained brown inside and grubby on the outside. The bathroom/ toilet was the pits. Dirty walls, the shower curtain smelled like urine and was grubby. Our first day in this motel was spent cleaning. We sometimes found it difficult to park close to our room as there seemed to be a lot of cars there in the evenings/nights. There is also NO pool, false advertising? We won't be recommending this motel to anyone.

Dear Kay T Thanks for the feedback. We apologise if the room you stayed in did not meet your expectations. The matters you draw to attention to have been addressed with housekeeping and they assure us it will not happen again. You stayed over the Clipsal V8 car race so we were full every night and housekeeping was stretched to the max! I fear a few short cuts were taken and this is not acceptable. If any guest is not happy with something, we encourage them to raise it with management immediately and the problem will be taken care of. We did have a swimming pool but it was removed by the owner some time ago. We do not advertise that we have a pool on any websites that we control so no false advertising.

Stayed for two nights, price was good enough for the area but give it a miss unless you really cant afford more. Truck traffic is annoying as truckers ignore the no-jakebreak and the property just needs a facelift overall. The roomdesperately needs a paint - wall and ceilings, back of door was ICK - and clean up and new furniture, the mattress and velour seat are about 30 years past their prime. Our room was nonsmoking but definitely had been smoked in in the past, the parking area was paved and designed by a drunk person. (It seems that rather than properly level everything they just put concrete over top of everything). We really just slept here and were happy to leave.

I regularly stay at the Tollgate when on business in Adelaide. It's a quick drive to the city and has plenty of parking. I've always found the rooms clean and tidy. Sure they are showing their age (a cracked tile in the bathroom, older fixtures and fittings) but the beds are comfortable and the linen very clean. The noise from the trucks can be a little loud at times, but once in your room the double glazing reduces this significantly. I've just read the previous review and was surprised. This has not been my experience at all. The staff have always gone out of their way to assist me from booking taxis to where to grab a meal. It's a great place to stay and I'd recommend it to anyone!

The Tollgate is well located at the end of the Southeast Freeway, close to all amenities of Adelaide and not too far from the city. The motel is lookjng run down, but the staff there keep it very clean. The proximity of the freeway makes it very noisy with trucks operati g all night. The price attracted us. There is a good laundry there to catch up on those odd jobs of travelling.
