My wife and I were looking for a well-situated B&B near the Shenandoah National Park as a base for a few days of hiking. Hopkins Ordinary fills the bill to a T. It's a restored historic building in the middle of the very small town of Sperryville so convenient to shops and restaurants. The innkeepers, Sherrie and Kevin, are gracious... More

Best DC weekend getaway locale (shhhhh...don't tell anyone😬). Sperryville is a quaint town at the Thornton Gap entrance to Shenandoah just a hour and 15 minutes from the DC area. Hopkins Ordinary is everything it is advertised to be plus so much more! We stayed in the Lavendar Room, which was well worth the price...the fireplace, sitting area, private porch,... More

Can't say enough about this place - cool and charming historic building, amazing breakfast, alehouse on premises, perfect location for mountain hikes and drives, charming town, and extraordinary hosts in Sherri and Kevin! Can't wait to return!

This is a fantastic B and B at the base of the entrance to Skyline drive. We found the hosts to be not only pleasant but helpful in making plans for our getaway weekend. We stayed two nights and enjoyed meeting other guests and locals at the brewery in the basement both nights. I also liked how we had our... More

This was our second visit. We stayed in the Lavender Room this time. Wonderful porch, spacious bedroom and a great claw-footed tub in which to soak. As the sun set on a beautiful Fall day, we sampled Kevin's excellent beer in the beer garden while playing with the pups. Breakfast the next day was copious and delicious. Sherry and Kevin... More

Thank you, and it was great to see you two again. And the pups really appreciated your attention! It is always so interesting to talk with you, also. Hope your travels are safe. More

The hostess was brisk, and I took her as rather rude.I was dressed very casually in sweats....having newly arrived there ....as a new citizen of the town... ,scared and alone..A very noisy place ...the floors really creak....No need to wonder what's going on in the next room...let alone on the next floor.YIKES! In the A.M. ...for god sakes don't sing... More

We feel your review is unfair and incomplete, and does not represent the situation accurately. We have talked to you about this, and asked you to take it down in light of this. You agreed to do so, but have not, so we are responding in order to fill in some of the missing details. You arrived seeming quite upset,... More

The B&B is lovely and the care that went into the restoration is evident. Our room was large and opened onto a wrap around porch. Kevin and Sherri, the innkeepers, were very welcoming. Breakfast was beautifully prepared and delicious!

We stayed in the Sage room, and we had a wonderful time. We drove up, went for a hike, then came and checked in mid-afternoon. The staff were welcoming and engaging, the beer was fantastic (we had it on the porch), and the breakfast the next morning was absolutely delicious. The owners were very attentive and knowledgeable, making us a... More

Hopkins Ordinary is definitely a cute old house. Hosts are nice and accommodating to the guests. We only stayed one night- there isn't much to do in Sperryville. Breakfast was typical B&B food. Tasty but certainly not off the charts delicious.

We are sorry that your stay in Sperryville did not meet your expectations. We realize you were here for an event that was held outside on a rainy day, which took up most of your short time in the area. Admittedly, Sperryville is a quiet, rather sleepy town with only a couple of places with live music or that are... More

We spent one night here. The property was quite lovely with a charming room. The bathroom was much bigger and newer than we are used to seeing in B&Bs. The owners were very nice, welcoming people. Both the food and the beer were very good.
