The Colony House is celebrating its 60th Anniversary in 2017. What a gorgeous, awesome motel! Old-fashioned wooden screen doors, cathedral ceilings, lovely old wallpaper (with taste); big room; pink bathtub and toilet in immaculate condition! Tables, chairs, refrigerator, microwave, TV, huge cabinet. Everything was fantastic! Like going back in time to when owners of motels and patrons respected each other...

Rosanne, You leave me speechless! You have honored my wife's father and her uncle that started the business 60 years ago. Yes their children still own and operate Colony House, and we have a wonderful staff that continues the rural and southern hospitality of another era. Please come again. Thank you from all the family owners and staff.

Colony House is a charming motor lodge with very nice management. The rooms are clean and have everything you need (more TV channels than my cable has at home). The manger, Francis, is very helpful and has many ideas of fun things to do and places to go for those not familiar with the Roanoke area. The location is very...

It's great to hear that you love our style! We've been family-owned and operated for over 60 years, and those details that you mentioned are what made us always feel at home. It's wonderful to see that you had a good, relaxing time here during your stay -- if you're ever back in Roanoke, we hope to see you again....

As is mentioned in some of the previous reviews, this is not a Hyatt, and it isn't a Courthouse by Marriott. It's a nice little motel with a very friendly staff. In general I was very satisfied with my room, although as is pointed out in other reviews, there were a couple of small things that caught my attention. Since...

Stephen, as a family owned business for almost 60 years with staff that is our family, since many have been with us for decades, it is heart warming when guests recognize our hard work and our desire to provide a quality product at a reasonable price. Thank you for bringing the issues with the HVAC and hot water to our...

First off I am a low budget motel guy so my bar is low, I get it, this is not the Hyatt. But too many problems here to overlook. First off Brenda at the front desk was wonderful, none of these were her fault. But check in took an unusually long time, a system problem? No big deal. But after...

Dave, I will pass your compliments on to Brenda. She is just one of our many fabulous employees. We will certainly repair the stopper, adjust the doors, and evaluate the TV issue. We had just shampooed some rooms as our ongoing cleaning, and it sounds like yours hadn't fully dried in this cooler weather. I see you received our hospital...

The Colony House offered a good nights stay at a decent price point. The room with two double beds was spacious, and the bed was comfortable. Linens and towels were adequate. Plenty of very hot water!! The decor is a bit dated. Continental breakfast is very simple.

The room was clean and beds comfortable. Bathroom and décor a bit dated. Location was convenient to several hiking spots and was able to walk across the street to a nice dinner at Taste of Asia. Staff was friendly. Would stay there again.

This motel has been in business nearly 60 years! It has mostly been well-maintained but is outdated. Amazing that the bathroom still has 50s pink fixtures! Fine for a night's stay. Skip the free breakfast.

Jan, that's right! Our family has owned this lodge for nearly sixty years, and it has now been passed down to us -- we love keeping some of the hotel's history and retro look, such as some of the pink bathrooms, because it reminds us of our past and our parent's adventuresome design for 1957. I'm happy to hear that...

We were in the city for a family affair. Booked online after reading other reviews. Hotel is very 1950's looking. Rooms are large by today's standards. A little dated but very clean. One of the managers, Ed, was very helpful printing out directions and telling us the best places to eat! Would stay there again!

Debbie, your review made my day. As a family owned independent motel for nearly 60 years, we work hard to make every guest's experience as good as yours. Thank you. We hope to see you again.

We stopped here for an overnight, room was very clean, The breakfast was the bare minimal, piece of fruit, pastry, some kind of frozen microwave sandwich. TV had enough stations Anyone pulling even a small trailer would have trouble staying here, If I were traveling thru would stay here again.

Thank you for your complimenting our cleanliness, and noting we are a repeat experience. Our Continental Breakfast includes sausage rolls, which are very tasty and have been a hit with our guests.
