We stayed at the Black Lantern Inn for our Anniversary. Ron, the Inn keeper was great, very cordial and made us feel right at home. The place was very clean and immaculate! The rooms were beautiful and the location was not too far from downtown. It is walking distance of one of the local restaurants as well as a few...

We were met by Ron, the owner of the B&B, a delightful fellow who showed us around the accommodation. Our room was on the first floor and had a four poster bed, plenty of space and a spacious bathroom. He said we could have the run of the first floor. The breakfasts were delicious and well thought out. Ron is...

My husband and I spent 2 nights at the Black Lantern Inn over the Memorial Day holiday. The property is impeccable. Everything is pristine. This formerly condemned property in the historic district was restored over a period of 4 years. It is about 1 mile from downtown - an easy 20 minute walk.

Outstanding renovation by current owner. Property is kept in perfect condition and the service, food and atmosphere are second to none. Great deal at this price. Short walk to restaurants and lovely shops in the downtown area. FYI- parking area is in the rear. Will definitely be back.

The bed was comfy, the bathroom was updated and the shared spaces were spacious. Ron & Claire have painstakingly remodeled the whole house up to the highest expectations with high end fixtures...

This is such a great place to stay -- wonderful room, places to hang inside and out, great breakfast, great conversations with the hosts, convenient to downtown Roanoke, and great history of the inn. Two suggestions -- (1) pay attention to the owners directions for parking and (2) Go there if you are staying in the Roanoke / Salem area!

I just returned from a stay at the Black Lantern Inn this past week. This B&B is top-notch. When I arrived I was greeted by Ron who carried my suitcase & showed me around and to my room. This inn is very nicely decorated and has all the comforts of home. Ron & Claire take your comfort very seriously with...

I stayed at the Black Lantern Inn for only one night, but truly wish that my trip could have been longer. The property is very well maintained, the decor thoughtfully chosen. I enjoyed the outside balcony for a late night snack; was a wonderful 'hideaway'. Breakfast was a wonderful experience...pancakes, scrambled eggs with herbs, and a delicious fruit bowl topped...

My husband and I stayed in the first floor bedroom suite. Huge 4-poster bed, very comfortable. The house is very beautifully and luxuriously decorated. Ron, the owner, gave us the run of the downstairs, which includes a living room and the main kitchen. I was able to set up my computer in the living room and work and just be...
