The Inn at Riverbend is perfectly situated for all the recreation and history for SW Virginia! The place is nestled into a hillside with beautiful views of the New River. We stayed in the Wolf Creek room.

The Cascade Falls trail head is maybe 6 miles away and well worth it. Relatively easy hike of two miles in and two back out - slight loop to it. If the 4 miles needs to be extended you can go up to Barney's Wall from there. Another more strenuous hike is up to Angels Rest - trail head around 4 miles from the inn. Angels Rest is about 2000' elevation gain in 2 miles along the Appalachian Trail. Non-technical mountain biking about 20 miles away on the New River Trail along the river itself. It is a state park some 50 miles long along a rail-to-trail so not much of a grade. You can grab lunch/dinner at the Draper Mercantile (one can also rent bikes there).
