The arrangement to collect the key had changed and we were not told till we went to the former reception. This was a bit strange as I had emailed them only 2 days before. Then the receptionist wanted us to write our bank card number on her form and there was another guest right next to me. Usually our bank card is swiped by the hotels. The rooms are old and we never did work out how to use the oven which is enormous.... However there was a hob, and a well stocked kitchen and a dining room table. Everything worked and it was just a shame there were no air conditioners in the bedrooms as the lounge air con doesn't quite cool the bedrooms however, we survived. Cervantes is very small with a grocers and a restaurant. The beach is beautiful and after a swim we went to see the Pinnacles and watched the sun set... totally magical. We had a lovely time.…
We've stayed here a couple of times in the past but both times were in winter. This time, at the end of summer, the weather was a lot warmer and we discovered that there was no air conditioning in the bedrooms, it was just in the main living area. We had to crank the aircon up high to blow down the corridor into the bedroom. Only 2 out of 4 hotplates worked on the cooker. There was no net curtain on the big window in the main living area so we had to keep the curtains drawn for privacy. These holiday homes are showing their age. Still, it was better that sleeping in a tent and we could watch TV when it was raining.
Checkin was a little tricky as we didn’t know to go to the local hotel for checkin until we arrived. We were however upgraded to a huge apartment. It was three bedrooms and large kitchen/lounge/dining. We walked to the local hotel for dinner and used kitchen for our own brekky. Highly recommend.
We booked a standard one bedroom unit but at check-in, we were given a two bedroom unit without additional charges. That’s was a plus because we used the pillows from the additional bedroom as the ones in the queen sized bedroom were rather soft and flat. The check- in was done at the nearby Tavern, friendly staff and there’s a key drop in the laundry room nearby the units for check out. The unit is clean and very spacious but rather dated, although everything was functioning well. Got some supplies from the nearby General Store to prepare dinner and the next day’s breakfast. The downside: No WiFi services and bathroom supplies. Only two bar soaps provided in the bathroom. Also, no ceiling/wall fans or air conditioning in the bedrooms. There was only one air conditioning unit in the dining/living room area, and it couldn’t heat up the entire unit. So, the bedrooms were pretty chilly at night. Also, the bedroom lacked power point plugs. We found two behind the bed, which were already used for the side table lamps. On the plus side, we found an extension plug in the other bedroom and we used that. Spent a bit of time star-gazing outside the unit and was truly amazed at the beautiful starlit sky. Overall, our one stay was a quiet and peaceful one. …
The house we rented was clean and comfortable with 3 bedrooms (one double bed and 4 singles) and a large living space. Good heating (reverse cycle air conditioning). The only minor complaint is that the kitchen tap needs a new washer and you have to clean out the rubbish yourself.
