Detailed Reviews
We first visited in summer and was looking forward to our second stay, this time in winter. A cold June afternoon welcomed us, with the mist low in the trees behind the cottages, we could not wait to get inside and light our fire. Before we settled in, we walked around the property, strolled down by the Yarra River, listening to the birds, before heading back to the cottage. With new soft furnishings, drapes and additional amenities, we noticed how much warmer and cosier it felt. The continental breakfast hamper was a wonderful addition, with all local produce and teas, was a big hit. Loccitane products in the bathroom on pump pack, which is wonderful now, to cut down on small plastic usage was a welcome find. Will we come back for a 3rd visit?... definitely, a 3rd, 4th and 5th visits are in the planning.

Dear RhondaN92, it was so wonderful to welcome you back to Yering Gorge Cottages for a winter getaway. Summer and Winter both offer different experiences, and we cannot decide which one we prefer - but settling in for an evening in front of the open fire is always amazing. It's great to receive your fabulous feedback regarding our new look within the cottages and we're delighted that you enjoyed a selection of local teas and coffee - we are very proud ambassadors of Melbourne's 'Food & Wine Playground' and love showcasing our amazing artisans that call the Yarra Valley their home. We do look forward to welcoming you back soon - maybe Spring or Autumn next time?

We stayed a few nights at Yering Gorge Cottages located at the Eastern Golf club.
We stayed in a 1 Bedroom Cottage - unit 4.
Driving up to the cottage, there is wonderful views of the area, Christmas Hills, the golf course and the wildlife and many Eastern Grey Kangaroos.
Once we arrived at our beautiful cottage, we lit the fire, poured a glass of wine and watched the Kangaroos around the grounds.
The Cottage:
It’s a nice modern 1 bedroom cottage, with a bathroom room, a small kitchenette and lounge/ dining area. There is also an outside deck and BBQ.
The bedroom: has a king size bed, electric blankets, wardrobe and chair.
The mattress was okay but very firm.
The bathroom: has a toilet, basin, separate shower and spa bath.
One the first night we couldn’t work how it was unbelievable cold in here, we then worked out our window had been opened, the bathroom was much warmer after this.
The lounge: there is a fire place, couch, lamp, chair, ottoman and Sony smart TV.
We didn’t have a DVD player as mentioned on the accommodation features.
The kitchenette: has a sink, bench, dishwasher, toaster, little hot plate, good size fridge with freezer and food warmer (no over) it’s has some condiments, plates and cutlery.
We had a really nice stay here, was nice to get away as restrictions ease and was lovely to enjoy the peace amongst nature.
You get complementary milk, bread, breakfast basket and wine.
Pop out to your deck from around 4pm -5pm to see the Kangaroos running down the hills and hanging around.
If you stay at unit 4 be mindful of the door, only one us was able to open/lock it, it’s a sliding door that you have to lift and pull to turn the key.
Also the wifi can be bad around peak times, Incase your streaming a movie.
We didn’t give a 5 as the door cause access issues as only one of us was able to open or lock it.

Dear Adventureswetake, it was lovely to welcome you to Yering Gorge Cottages for your getaway following the gradual easing of travel restrictions. As a result of the current environment we all find ourselves in, we have implemented a number of new procedures to provide our guests with complete peace of mindwhen staying; with- one of these being the airing of all cottages inbetween guest stays. We are so apologetic that these were not closed prior to your check-in - as we find ourselves in the heart of winter, it can get very chilly quite early. With the introduction of NETFLIX for our guests' enjoyment during their stay in late 2018, we removed our DVD players - please accept our apologies if this was not communicated prior to your arrival. Thank you for the feedback regarding your cottage door - the changing of seasons does cause our doors to drop and we are having these double checked to ensure other guests don't experience the same issues. Thank you for your wonderful feedback and we do hope to welcome you back again soon. Stay safe.

I brought my parents to Australia as a present for their 50th wedding anniversary (we are on our last two nights). For the end part of our trip to Melbourne and surrounds - The Great Ocean Road, Phillip Island and now the Yarra Valley - I booked us in at the Yering Goring Cottages.
This little gem of a spot tucked behind the Eastern Golf Course at the end of a winding dirt road which weaves through beautiful countryside; opens up to 12 charming cottages near the Yarra River.
Our particular one bedroom cottage was just right for our visit. We have an expansive deck with a nice seating/eating area, an open kitchen/living room area with vaulted ceilings, a wood burning stove and tasteful and comfortable decor and furniture (and the couch is a sleeper sofa).
Upon arrival our kitchen was stocked with a breakfast basket for morning and the fridge offered plenty of options from beer to wine to soda and snacks.
The master bedroom has a nice comfortable queen bed and the bathroom completed the cottage with a glass shower and large bathtub.
I must also add the reception and clubhouse are also beautiful and staff here welcoming and friendly.
The highlight of this resort (for us) has been the lovely kangaroos that call this expansive property home. As you weave through the resort, relax in your cottage, take to the links or venture for afternoon walks, the kangaroos are everywhere, and they are a sight to see.
Perhaps as Americans we are a bit more entranced by these darling marsupials, but watching kangaroos in the wild for us has been brilliant.
If I lived on the same continent I would absolutely make a visit to Yering Goring Cottages an annual holiday. But since I don’t, I can only hope to venture back to Australia in the next decade and make sure I stay more than one night!
I’ve traveled all over the world (58 countries, 6 continents, 45 states) and Yering Goring is on my Top 10 lodging accommodations ever! If I could give this more than five stars, I would! I highly recommend a stay here.

Dear jkcarnah, WOW - congratulations to your parents on a wonderful 50 years together - and what an amazing way in which to celebrate this incredible milestone in their life - a beautiful experience from a beautiful daughter. We are so lucky to have played a very small part in this very special holiday and it's wonderful to read how much you enjoyed your time with us. It's always a very special experience to view our beautiful wildlife in their natural habitat and our kangaroo population, in particular, bring much joy for all of our guests - and as we welcome back our international travellers, we are reminded how special this experience is when viewed through their eyes. Thank you so much for such an incredible review following your time with us - and such an amazing endorsement from such a seasoned traveller - we feel very humbled by your comments. We do hope that you have the opportunity to travel back to Australia again, and to welcome you back to Yering Gorge Cottages - thank you again for such beautiful words - they are so appreciated by us all.

We spent a couple of nights at the Yering Gorge Cottages with our kids. It was a beautiful setting and our kids particularly enjoyed the wildlife aspect of it all i.e. arrival of the kangaroos in the evening, watching an echidna at close range, listening to the kookaburras. The walking tracks leading to the Gorge were easy to follow and the views were spectacular over the Yarra River. We also enjoyed playing tennis and hit a few golf balls at the driving range. We stayed in the Maroondah cottage which had two separate bedrooms and the a fantastic lounge/dining area with all you need for breakfast. My husband loved the homemade muesli! The barbecue was also useful to cook one of our evening meals and great outdoor dining overlooking the golf course from our deck. The kids loved the space and comfort of their room and the spa bath in the bathroom made bath time a truly unique experience for them. The beds were very comfortable which is always an important aspect of any holiday. The staff couldn't have been friendlier and helped make our stay one which we hope to replicate in the future.

This place is incredible!
Quite, clean, perfect to relax. The cottage is of a very good size, you will find a good area to read, watch TV, appreciate the surroundings and the nature. It’s filled with natural light. It’s gorgeous. You will find everything you need to prepare quick meals or you can simply drive to one of the small towns for dinner or lunch. We informed we are vegan, and they promptly offered almond and soy milk. The toiletries are exceptional and on top of that, they even offer hair drier with diffuser (super important for someone with curly hair like me). We loved every single minute in there and we are already planning our return.

Booked a 4 room cottage for my family and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
The location was just magical, clean crisp fresh air, away from hustle and bustle of city, free ranging kangeroos, cockatoos, colourful birds...
The rooms were clean, spacious and we even had our own fireplace.
Totally magical and worth the price. 2 thumbs up.

We booked this as we had a family gathering in the Yarra Valley, and thought we would stay in the area the night.
Reception staff when we arrived were excellent.
Then it went downhill.
Our cottage was not worth the monies paid.
Ramp up to the front door, disabled bathroom complete with grip rails and seat in the shower was confronting.
We could not close the bedroom blind as it was off the track, so my husband was on a chair to fix it so we could have privacy to sleep. There was mould on the ceiling in the bedroom, a broken smoke alarm, curtains off their tracks on every window too.
I filled in a survey that was emailed to us after our stay, stating the above, and mentioned that I was available to talk to re concerns. I have not heard from anyone, hence my Trip Advisor comment.
My nearly 400 TA comments have been well received by fellow travellers.
Sorry, we won’t be back.

Dear Annie C, We would like to apologise that we did not reply immediately to your guest survey response received on January 14, 2022 - an email was sent to you yesterday explaining the reason for this delay. Providing an accessible accommodation option for our guests that require additional assistance during their stay – ensuring they also have the opportunity to experience our immersive nature-based experience firsthand - is one that we’re very proud of. Apart from the additional amenities you have mentioned, there is no other difference in design layout to our other one-bedroom cottages. At the time of your reservation being extended in late December 2021 – we only had one cottage available that could accommodate the number of nights you were booked to stay with us. We would like to apologise that the cottage you stayed in was not to your satisfaction and we have updated your guest history to reflect this for our future reference. We will have our maintenance team follow up on your other concerns immediately. We would like to take this opportunity to wish you all the best for 2022.

I stayed here overnight with my bestie and we had a fabulous time. The cottage met all our needs. The setting was lovely and we had visits from local cockatoos, magpies and kangaroos. We enjoyed the pot belly stove with the fire all prepared ready for us, the big barbecue on our private deck, the bathroom with spa, separate shower and L'Occitane products, and especially the beautiful view which incorporated the leafy hills on one side and the golf course on the other looking out towards Yarra Glen (not to mention the gorgeous gum tree right beside our deck). We also enjoyed the complimentary bottle of shiraz upon entry. The provisions were more than adequate, especially as we had booked a breakfast hamper with eggs and bacon mushrooms, avocado, tomatoes, spinach ... it was a great morning! We visited the Members Lounge at reception before leaving and we could quite comfortably have spent much longer there if we hadn't already made a booking for lunch elsewhere. All in all, I was very impressed and would like to return in the future.

We stayed in a cottage for 2 (Riverside) which is beautifully appointed with everything you need to enjoy the peace and relaxation that is Yering Gorge Cottages. There’s a full kitchenette with table top oven, microwave and you’re supplied with butter, bread, milk, a complimentary bottle of wine, log fire and an outdoor bbq. The bed is very comfortable and the spacious bathroom has a jacuzzi bath. The TV has YouTube & Netflix and excellent wifi (70mb download/15 mb upload if you’re interested). The location behind the Eastern Golf Course next to bush land means you’re surrounded by beautiful nature and lots of opportunities to see the local kangaroos & birds. You’re only a 10-15 min drive from some amazing restaurants (Meletos, Yering Station, etc) and some great Yarra Valley wineries. The towns of Lilydale & Healesville are also easy to get to in around 25 mins as well as Yarra Glen. Check in is easy, friendly and welcoming. We’ve stayed here several times and keep coming back for the peace & relaxation and the fantastic location to the beauty of the Yarra Valley. Will definitely be returning. Thank you!

Dear Ahcengmo, we do encourage you to view our resident kangaroo population from your cottage deck, take lots of photos but please don't attempt to feed them or touch them. We look forward to welcoming you to Yering Gorge Cottages.
Children are very welcome. We had a 12 year old and a 9 year old with us and there was no problem. They even sell kids’ BBQ meals for you to grill.
No There is a laundry
Agree with above. We had leisurely breakfasts at the cottages (well supplied by them) then spent the middle parts of days driving around the wineries/restaurants/chocolaterie. Picked up enough supplies to have our own dinners back at the cottage in the evening around a roaring fire. But the area is definitely best experienced with a car -otherwise suggest booking a daytrip with one of many companies that do tours to the Yarra Valley
