This is a lovely place to stay if you want to escape the hordes of people in Apollo Bay. It is an ideal place for writing, quiet reflection, watching native birdlife and all with beautiful views of Apollo Bay and Wongarra for inspiration! The rooms are clean, light, cosy and spacious with basic facilities carefully created to provide privacy and tranquillity. Our hosts Angelica and Gary were friendly, knowledgeable and made fabulous breakfasts! It is a great base for access to the Otway ranges and the beaches surrounding Apollo Bay.

The first time we stayed at this B&B was five or so years ago, before my husband and I married and was a perfect romantic getaway. Perched high up on a hillside overlooking the ocean. As one reviewer said, it is a steep climb up in a car to get there, but well worth it (although a little scary in the dark!!). We go there in winter and actually enjoy the pouring rain and frosty temperatures, it makes the whole place very scenic and beautiful. Perfect place to take wine and cheese and DVDS and enjoy the spa and the views.
Most recently we took our baby daughter there. The hosts (filling in for the regular hosts) were very helpful and really nice, taking care of us, and making sure we had everything for our toddler. Unfortunately the beautiful two storey room wasn't available to us, having a child, but the cabin we stayed in was very nice, spa and bed good and view spectacular. We have, and will continue, to recommend it. As with most B&Bs, we would prefer more bench space for preparing baby bottles, etc, but this is a minor thing. We have stayed in two other places on the Great Ocean Road, one in Lorne and one in Torquay and haven't bothered to review either, as both very sterile and ordinary. This place is the best place on the Great Ocean Road, as long as you don't mind the additional drive from Melbourne! it is close however, to the Otway National Park and only another hour's drive to the Apostles.

My wife and I stayed for a night at A Room with a View in February. It really is in a great location and is a beautiful B&B with fantastic views from the rooms and their decks. A few minor matters to be aware of:
1. It is way up a windy country road, which of course is part of the place's charm. But that does mean it is something of a trip to go into nearby Apollo Bay, and especially to drive back in the dark. The website indicated that having dinner made there was a possibility, but that turned out not to be the case for us when we were there. (No problem, though, since Angelika let us know it would not be possible in advance, so we picked up some food on the way.)
2. The hosts are a bit more formal and rule conscious than many B&B proprietors, with instructions about where one can and can't go on the grounds, etc.
3. The room (I think it was the East Suite, or some name like that) we were in was fantastic, but smaller than the website made it look.
As indicated by my "five star' rating, though, these really are minor matters. I mention them just so visitors are aware of them, not to discourage folks from staying there.
Furthermore, the place exceeded even our high expectations in some regards:
1. First, while the room was smaller than I'd expected based onthe website, it still is very nice, as is its deck. While you wouldn't want to have bad weather there, the picture windows make it a comfy place to sit out a storm if necessary.
2. The website suggests that you have to pay for any breakfast, but the place does provide very basic provisions (instant coffee, cereal, milk) in the room for a free breakfast.
3. All we ordered from the menu was a bread of some sort, but it was so good that I'm sure that the other dishes would be superb.
In sum, a lovely B&B!

My little boy loved this accommodation so much he said he would give it 6 stars if TripAdvisor allowed him. Some highlights from our stay:
1. Luxurious accommodation. The room was beautifully done up, with all the modern comforts. You will need to bring your own shower gel if you prefer that to soap though. The toilet has its own heater which was a treat.
2. Spectacular view and wildlife. Over our two nights there we spotted (from our room!) 1 wild koala, 1 satin bower bird (and nest), 2 king parrots, 7 sulfur-crested cockatoos, magpies and a random horse feeding just beyond the garden. The king parrot even landed on our balcony one morning.
3. No wifi. Possibly the only downside to this place. Due to its location, even our mobile wifi could not get reception. If you need regular connectivity, like we did, check in at the base of the hill before going up for the evening or when you drive down for the day.

Thank you so much for taking the time to review us and I am really pleased that you enjoyed your stay, especially your son. The wildlife never ceases to be a joy for us also. I am sorry about the lack of WiFi and wish you had mentioned it to me as I can make wifi available in our office, to guests needing to send emails or do basic internet searches. Sadly signal does not allow more than that. Hope we get to see you again, cheers Angelika.

That was the best trip My partner and I have undertaken before I left back to Europe. The room with a view keeps its promise. Beautiful, kind and quiet. It was lovely to be there and the breakfast ... omg how I miss it. And... the owner spoke German ... yayyy... 😄😉👍 Can highly recommend this place.

You get a beautiful room in this B&B. We had, out of the the room window an amazing view, partly on the ocean and partly on the garden. In the garden you can spot a huge variety of colorful birds. The room had a beautiful bath room with a twin spa so you can enjoy a relaxing massage after a day trip. The B&B is located on a hill away far away from any from any noise so you are guaranteed of a good night sleep in a good bed. We got a lot of help from the host Angelika in planning a trip around Apollo bay and also in the selection of some local restaurants. The nearest place too have diner is Apollo Bay what gives you a 20 minutes ride to get to a restaurant. In the room you have a small kitchen to help you out with glasses, tea and coffee facilities, a fridge etc. There is a variety of small snacks available. You can order a breakfast that is delivered to your room. The breakfast is good but in my opinion a bit too expensive. For the price of the room the breakfast should be included. Since the breakfast is delivered to your room there is no contact with other people staying in the B&B. We were far away from home when we stayed there but we had no regrets about the choise we made to stay in this B&B.

I can hardly describe how great this B&B is! The excellent hilltop sea view looking over the Great Ocean was something you won't forget.
The house is so cleverly designed to let you grasp the scene as if looking at a painting.
Colourful parrots and various kinds of birds would be playing and singing right outside your balcony. That is one of a delightful experience to live so closely with nature.
Angelika and Gary are very friendly and their breakfast is super delicious!
The horse, the dogs and the wildlife koala really made my day so delightful!
The property is very well managed with comfy beds and linings, huge washroom even with a jacuzzi tub.

Whether you're coming here for a romantic getaway or even just to take some time out from the city, this is the place to come.
So quiet, so tranquil and wow what a view. Breakfast is fantastic as well. Can't recommend highly enough.
It is a bit of a distance from the restaurants and the road up is really winding but as long as you have a car this will not be a problem.

"Step through the doors and boom, my jaw hits the floor and stays there for a good 2 minutes. This is why this place is called A Room with a View. Simply stunning and majestic. I can honestly say I have never stayed anywhere that has a view that rivals anything close to it. Lush green rolling hills (which you just drove up) all the way down to the ocean which then stretches as far as the eye can see. If you are as lucky as I was, you can wake up to a sunny day with double rainbows and all kinds of birds chirping just outside the window."

I usually do our trip planning but this time my husband really surprised me by picking this place. It is one of the best places we have stayed. So yes men are useful sometimes hahaha. Stunning view of vast grassy slopes leading to the ocean's edge. They have a horse and a beautiful dog but they are just friendly and would just leave you alone. Make sure you choose chocolate crossaint that Angelika makes for brekky. We came back to the b&b so late one night but we had to grill the food we bought in the morning. It was a pain in the butt as it was completely dark but so glad Angelika came out of her bedroom to help.
The room is very clean and modern with a touch of country feel. Great set-up lovely decor a lot of space and a romantic bath tub (with candles)! We would love to run a place like this when we are older.

With a name like "A Room with a View" we expected a stunning view, and that is what we got, everything was ideal, including the koalas and birdlife. A great way to start our time in Victoria. Just loved sitting on the little patio and watching the ocean and the birds, it was idea to relax into our holiday. The hosts were wonderful, ask about the bowerbirds bower.

A Room with a View is definitely legit and has been operating for many years. It has its own online presence by looking up their name and the closest town to them which is Apollo Bay.
It is definitely worth the effort
:)
