I travel through Melbourne quite a lot for work and have stayed at The Park Royal many, many times. In fact I was staying there when it was a Hilton Property.
The location of this hotel is quite simply unbeatable for Melbourne airport as it is directly opposite the terminal building. ( both Domestic and International flights at Melbourne airport have arrivals and departures in the same building). There is an elevated walkway from the arrivals level that will get you over the traffic and keep you out of the rain ( mostly). You can easily roll your bags to this hotel with a short 5 min walk.
Room sizes are quite generous with all the rooms I have stayed in having a decent sized desk to spread out on - great if you need to do a bit of work. The bathrooms have a bath - but manage your expectations on the size. The hotel could do with a make over and you might be surprised at the condition of the rooms - especially for the price you will pay. The room I stayed in this week and stained carpets, and the wood paneling on the cabinetry had started to deteriorate quite badly.
As I have mentioned, I have stayed at this property many times, and will stay there in the future as you simply can't beat it for convenience. However, given that this is the most expensive hotel at the airport, it would nice if they could refurb the rooms to bring them in line with some of the other hotels in the airport area.

The Park Royal is in a great location, being an easy five minute walk across a covered sky bridge to the terminal. As a black Discovery member I was upgraded to a runway view room, which was comfortably furnished and well sound proofed and given a nice bottle of white wine as a welcome amenity. I redeemed a local experience which was a two course set dinner for two including a bottle of sparkling wine. I had the scallop entree and rack of lamb for the main course. Both were cooked to perfection. All members of staff we met were welcoming and friendly. Pre-stay emails were answered promptly and all requests granted. Highly recommended for those with an early flight out, or late flight in.

Park Hotel ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Convenience Literally across the street from Melbourne Domestic/International terminal this hotel sits above the parking garage. The hotel was clean and comfortable. Bathroom had a tub. There was kettle with teas & coffee. Room service was quick and not over priced. Breakfast was included offering a few international choices. The bar and restaurant are open for lunch hours and dinner hours but you can easily walk across the street into the terminal food court for multiple options, and you don’t need a ticket to get through security. Our party had three adults and one child and the hotel only had king rooms available and no rollaways so we had to pay for two rooms (almost $200 AUD per room) but the hotel allowed us to check in to our room at 11AM so we paid for convenience of an easy walk across the street for an 7AM flight the next morning.

Check in was smooth, receptionist was pleasant and efficient. Room size is good! Very convenient because of proximity to airport. There’s a covered walkway to the airport which is literally a 5 min walk away. Room was clean with good amenities. What I disliked - Room aircon was noisy, constant loud dripping noise, we called to ask if they could fix it, but it was close to midnight and we were too tired to change rooms and they couldn’t fix it as no maintenance at that time. They offered us 50% off our meal, which was a really small meal, I thought that was ridiculous! At the time of check out, I expressed this and so instead they gave us 59AUD off our room rate and added back the amount they had taken off the food (17$)!! For something that was clearly the hotels fault, I was quite dissatisfied with their customer service and felt it was not sufficient to compensate for an extremely noisy room! But overall a very good pick if one has an early morning flight to catch or arrives very late at night into Melbourne.

We arrived a bit early on our overseas flight but the hotel was perfectly located across from the MEL airport terminal and we were checked into our room promptly. The room was spacious, and spotless. There is an in room safe which I find reassuring when traveling abroad. The linens and bathroom amenities were of good quality and generous quantities. There were numerous electrical outlets for charging our devices. The wifi was fast. The mattress was extremely comfortable, the room was quiet and the blackout blinds helped us get acclimatized with a good nights sleep. We ate dinner at the terminal as there were lots of dining options, but we had a wonderful buffet breakfast included with our room the next morning. Too many options to list but the kitchen would accommodate special requests so we left very satisfied. The hotel is a little older, but I found everything was in good working order and I would not hesitate to return.

I've stayed at this property in the past, and then the hotel was not only convenient, but it was a real gem as far as airport on-property hotels go. Not anymore, IMHO. I recently stayed at this Parkroyal twice during the same week. Both stays were mediocre at best. During my first stay there was no hotel water - I got to "enjoy" a ta p-water temperature shower. As to the 2nd stay, the room was dingy, carpeting was worn and threadbare, and even the tiles in the bathroom creaked and popped. At least there was hotel water for my shower. But what made the 2nd stay a bust was the bedding. Appparently, the housekeeper tucked in so much of the duvet under the mattress at the foot of the bed that I could not pull the duvet u higher than my chest. Moreover, the duvet seemed to be one size too small for the size of the bed. Frankly, the convenience factor is so compelling that despite my recent disappointing experiences, I would likely stay at this hotel, not by choice, but out of necessity. Which is sort of sad.

The Parkroyal has a very pleasant reception area, with a good-sized bar and chilled water if you just want a refresher, The rooms are good, as is usual these days, prices are set by the market. King sized rooms start at around $300. The hotel is literally across the road from the main Melbourne Airport terminal. There are cheaper options, but you get what you pay for. The Park Royal Melbourne is 5 star hotel, check in is at 2:00 pm and check out is at 11.00 am. The Parkroyal has all the amenities a traveller would need, in a very convenient location.

The location is perfect for a late flight into Melbourne, however for the cost and the reputation of the Pan Pacific Hotels Group, I was very disappointed with the poor state of the room, with tears in the carpet, and also the worn hall carpet on the floor where we were staying. I think we got the floor next in line for renovation. The bed was uncomfortable, the room service toasted sandwiches were luke warm, and they were accompanied by packet potato chips. I had higher expectations. The buffet breakfast was also lukewarm. The staff were friendly and the check-in and out process was easy and timely.

Our international flight arrived close to 1am and our domestic flight was 9:30am so we booked to get a few hours sleep at the Parkroyal. As I read just now the headline of a fellow traveller’s review, just simply titled ‘Crap’, I laughed out loud with sympathy because we felt the same entirely!!! Of course they are preying on travellers who want the convenience but how can this hotel justify such awful rooms for the price. We paid $250, booked many many months in advance, on a reduced qantas rate (from $300) and it was the crumbiest hotel room we’ve ever seen for that cost. The ‘black and gold’ style products in the bathroom smelt awful and Cheap As Chips would have supplied far superior shower gel!! And a two star motel in a rural Aussie town might have had a better looking tea and coffee station than the Parkroyal’s. There is zilch that is ‘royal’ about this place! The furniture was beat up and seriously in need of replacement and the aircon fan could have woken the dead. The reason for the one point given here is the presence of clean sheets!!! By the way, don’t try to find your way in from the ground level with trolleys of luggage as there are essentially no ‘ramp’ breaks in the kerbs. Impossible! Access is better from level two apparently.

Parkroyal Hotel at the Melbourne airport is the epitome of convenience. It’s just a walk across the skywalk to the airport which was excellent, since my friend and I had flights at different times. We were able to use their check in parking to drop off our bags before returning our rental car. The room was very nice with comfy bed, huge bathroom, nice shower. We had breakfast in our package which was delicious. The dining room opens at 6 AM but since my flight was early, I was able to order room service which was delivered at 5 AM (you choose the time and food!). Only curious thing is their minibar which had a tiny amount of fridge space available to us. The sign said the items had electronic sensors and we would be charged if they were moved, so we were afraid to even see what they had available. This is definitely the place to stay if you have an early flight.
