We stayed here for 3 nights while on holiday. Just up the same road from ferry drop off point. Lovely and quiet and very close to Penneshaw Hotel. We were on 1st floor which was nice except for the carrying of luggage up the stairs. It’s older style accommodation and could do with a bit of a revamp. No room service was done but the access of more towels was available on request. Breakfast was included in our package and all the staff including Alison in the kitchen were most helpful in and around the area. Overall a good stay.

We bought a four day Luxury Escape Glamping experience hosted by Seafront hotel. The tent was awesome! Nicely appointed with a very comfortable Queen size bed, beautiful new ensuite and small practical kitchen albeit no microwave. The Glamp included WiFi, smart TV, air conditioning (a must for us) and fridge. The views over the water were partially obscured but still okay whilst sitting on the verandah, which was great for the afternoon beer and wine!

The breakfast that came with the package was beautiful- elementary but a typical big English style with hot tea /coffee, juice and cereal for those that want it. all of the staff were professional and diligent, friendly and courteous.

The Glamping is done offsite from the main hotel so it’s nice and quiet and there is ample room for parking. It could use a mow and a bit more bush land care though to maximise the setting and the views.

The cons were (1) that our first night it was extremely windy and we thought the tent was going to blow away... but it’s obviously built for this seaside environment and easily withstood the onslaught. It was however a tent. The flapping made it near impossible to sleep but thank goodness we had brought ear plugs. (2) the sheets aren’t fitted which was maddening... they kept creeping around the bed which was very annoying. (3) Netflix on the TV was jammed to a particular email so we couldn’t sign in albeit we bought iPads downloaded with our favourites so it wasn’t a biggie for us (4) the tent wasn’t serviced apparently due to COVID restrictions. We were able to get fresh towels each day.

Overall, we had a great experience. It’s something we always wanted to try and would do it again. Come prepared with earplugs and downloaded movies just in case.

Our room was comfortable, gad a great view across the street to the bay. Unfortunately this review will mainly reflect our experience with the rude receptionist. As the rooms were not being serviced due to covid (no reduction in price for reduced service) we went to reception we to receive new towels etc etc, when we first went in, were not greeted, and she didnt look up from the computer screen. Just turns and around and says "YES", asked for the above, no biscuits available, had run out , she was very rude and abrupt. We gad to leave our rubbish outside our room. Stay here if you want to meet the female version of Basil Falwty. Verdict would not stay here again.

The staff were lovely and I do not want to take anything away from home incredibly helpful and lovely they were. They assisted with providing us a hdmi cord when we asked but they did fail to provide anything special for the stay which was asked for by email (only asked for a note.)

My only issues were with the hotel itself, with the pool now being out of commission for 6 weeks, the ‘sauna’ sign out the front being wrong as it hasn’t been there for years and the mini golf being closed.

Additionally, the bed sheets had stains and rubbish was not removed from our room when it was serviced and the hotel struggled to give us a mere 15 minute later check out. The bathroom door didn’t lock, the screen door to the balcony (great view) also was broken. I can understand all of these things being wrong, however at over $200 a night this really was very disappointing to have this experience on a romantic get away.

The location of the hotel is great though, with great food nearby, IGA and BWS a very short walk away and a fantastic view and beach front stay which is right next to where the ferry docks.

Whilst the week ended up being difficult going into Lockdown from Wed 21/7/21, our accommodation was top notch. Our one completely free day enabled us to get to a local winery, fabulous, and have a great meal at the Penneshaw Hotel. Great food and great staff, would have gone back for sure. I am so glad we chose this property to stay at; loved the great tropical feel it provided, and Penneshaw is a very quaint town with a couple of nice cafes, other eateries and a well stocked IGA. Seafront staff were very informative, friendly and understanding of our situation, allowing us to stay in our room on Thursday free of charge until our delayed ferry departed, helping us leave with a good taste in our mouth. No hesitation in returning to Seafront and completing our island holiday down the track.

My husband and I recently enjoyed a holiday for our anniversary in KI and stayed in a beautiful tropical cabin at the Kangaroo Island Seafront. The cabin is situated at the rear of the hotel amongst peaceful gardens (which could be mistaken as tropical due to the dense foliage of the trees and plants) and offered a little veranda with table/chairs to sit on outside of the cabin with a quaint kitchenette inside the lounge area and separate bedroom area. The bathroom was surprisingly big for the space and the front reception and dining room was only a short walk along the path from the cabin location.

We took up the opportunity to pre-order our breakfast each morning and the dining facilities were lovely, looking out over the beach at Penneshaw. Staff were al very friendly and the dining experience was relaxing and certainly not rushed.

During our stay we ordered a pizza from the KI Seafront and ate in our cabin while watching the footy! Pizza was delicious and definitely value for money.

I would highly recommend the Kangaroo Island Seafront cabins (or hotel) for accommodation to anyone wanting a relaxing and stress free holiday in KI.

Has 4 stars; in reality not even 1.
Was travelling a very expensive package deal.
Not worth it.
Dirty room and bathroom, terrible collapsed mattresses, ceiling fan only worked on 1 speed. The included breakfast was cheap, nasty and rubbish (packet of cereal and packet milk on table, scrambled eggs tasteless and like rubber, nothing to cater for an International tourist).
No housekeeping during our stay; had to ask for clean towels, and make up room and do housekeeping ourselves.
An old hotel, not even trying to do better.
Just don't bother.

Stayed in one of the $200 a night Deluxe Villas at the rear of the hotel. Accommodation is of a reasonable standard, but I wouldn't use the word "Deluxe". Also a tab expensive even for KI.
The bed is ok for an inner spring mattress, but Pocket spring would be deluxe. The "lounge" chair is just a sofa lounge/bed. Very uncomfortable to sit on for a prolonged period, and I'd never want to sleep on it. The floor would be more comfortable. The large screen tv is in the lounge area and not visible from the bedroom. Only fta channels are available between dropouts. It appears that Foxtel may have been connected in the past, but no longer. But it is a smart tv that can connect to the free Wi-Fi as I did. You could then access your netflix or other accounts. But remember to clear your details before leaving.
The ensuite and kitchenette are welcome features. Grocery store is next door for supplies.
Access. If your disabled you're in serious trouble. All villas had step entrances and that's after you navigate the undulating path through the rather pleasant garden. To be fair they probably never promoted it as suitable for the disabled. But it is the only hotel in town.
Carpark, well paddock would be a better term. Limited spaces.
Would I stay there again, sorry it's a No from me.

The Romantic Glamping location said it had sea views, a kitchen and the perfect romantic getaway, yes sea views but no where near the sea, kitchen er no, we had a sink and a fridge, i had to buy a toaster. The staff had a major fault, they did not know how to smile or make us feel welcome, its a if it was a burden for them to be there.
I would strongly suggest do not go to the Seafront Holiday Park unless your sick of life. The pictures on the website are nothing like what we ended up in.
Great it offered Netflix, problem it didnt work.
It was very cold in the glamping tent, air conditioner didnt not work very well, and there were no spare blankets, i had to wear normal clothes in bed with my jacket just to keep warm.

To N717SMglennh, We are confused regarding this review, and we are sadded that you didnt enough your glamping experiance. We want to acknowledge a few of your concerns and dissapointment. We do not advertise a full kitchen on any website, we do list all the amenties in the tents (we do NOT encourage cooking in the tents as they are a canvas material) We have plenty of pictures on website to show location of the tents and do not advertise that they are directly on the beach. All the images are our tents, we have never had a compalint that we have advertised falsely. They all do have seaviews of the back stairs passage over seeing the mainland. Netflix is on the smart TV you need to login to your own account to access (all tv are working perfectly well) lastly the aircon - unless we are told by yourself or previuos guests we are unaware, maintenace attended your room when we saw your review and changed the setting as it was on fan not heating. We apologies if your experinace was not up to your standard.

Stayed at the Seafront hotel as part of our Kangaroo Island tour.
Highly recommend upgrading to a seafront room as the view from the balcony was just spectacular!
The rooms, while dated were clean and tidy. Simple but had everything we needed. The walls are pretty thin so you might want to avoid room 1 (next to the reception).
Our room came with breakfast which had to be preordered the day before but that meant our food was nice and piping hot.
Hotel's pool (much too cold to swim anyway) and pizzeria were closed during our stay but there are a couple other restaurants a short walk away.

Another option for casual eating is to buy food at the nearby supermarket and make use of the on-site barbecue by the pool. Hotel was happy to provide plates etc. Really good and very inexpensive!

Is there a free parking?
Answer from Anthony C

Hi Eugenio, yes there is free parking. I didn't come across any place on the island that required you to pay for parking.
Answer from Michael S
Manila, Philippines96 contributions67 helpful votes
Hi, I see you are staying one night only, that is a shame as it takes a lot longer than that to see most of the island. My advice is to rent a car, travel west to The Admirals Arch then east to Seal Bay and take tour on the beach among the Sea Lions. that will take most of the day. If you have time visit KI wildlife park where you can feed the 'roos and touch the koalas. If you want a tour I think Kangaroo Island Exceptional Tours may be the way to go. I think there are other operators but this seems to be about the best. Whichever way you choose you will love the place.

The construction was completed when we stayed in January, with the Villas up and running for guest accommodation, no view from villas, apart from Pool area, as located at rear of the two storey motel accommodation.
