Visited the Prairie Hotel after hearing about it through friends and TV. While in the area on holiday, I came for a beer and a meal and thoroughly enjoyed the meal, the drink and the hospitality. I’d come again if I didn’t live 6 hours...More

The food was ok and people nice. Suggest don't sleep in Room 1 since it is as noisy as hell. It is like sleeping in the kitchen. If you get Room 1 and can't get another room sleep in your car or move on.

Personally this system of dual booking causes problems--- we phoned from Melrose to book a room 2 things caused me to check 1 are the dirt roads dry currently? I asked-- the reply was there is no problem with the roads. 2 do you serve breakfasts?-- there are plenty places to eat here--- when I got off the phone I replayed this conversation in my mind --not happy---rang them back to find we were booked into the O'Connell in the city-----so I would be asking to speak to the manager at the O'Connell for a direct number---- hope fully they could plug the communication holes
