We stayed at Bestbrook Farmstay for 4 nights in April 2021 with another family camping at tranquility campground and it was amazing! From the first moment we entered the property we knew it was going to be a fun time. As you enter the property you can see the numerous animals that are there from horses, cows, chicken and sheep. We meandered our way down the dirt track to the campgrounds we were given. We chose our own campsite from the plentiful areas that were available. We were pleasantly surprised there were lots of sites available during the second week of school holidays. We had a larger campsite for both families within walking distance to the portable toilet and shower block and water.
The portable toilets (x4) and showers (x3) were clean. You can also use the facilities at the bunkhouse which we did for a couple of nights. The shower block #C is a double shower which makes showering with children easier.
There is a water tap next to the amenities for washing dishes etc. We loved the fact you could have your own campfires too! They sell firewood for $15.
There is plenty of activities to do whilst there we explored the creek down from the campsite which the children enjoyed.
We fed the animals pigs, milked cows, drank cows milk, fed the sheep and chickens. Bruce was very informative with his animal talk. The animal feeding went for approx an hour. The children loved it and the adults learnt some information on animals that they didn’t know.
We did the butter making, damper and Billy tea on the Sunday and Bruce again didn’t disappoint. He is a wealth of knowledge and involves the audience particularly the children in the demonstrations. This activity also went for close to one hour. It was amazing to watch how cream was made into butter - something we all want to do now we are back home. The damper making was awesome too. They also have little camp fires set up to cook the damper sticks in and to finish it off with a Billy tea.
We didn’t get a chance to do the walks but heard they were short in distance so a good length for children.
We went to the restaurant on the final night and the food and drinks were great and reasonable priced. The service was exceptional too.
At night it is very peaceful being outside with the campfire going. Being next to the highway, road noise is more noticeable at night. Although we didn’t have a problem sleeping with the noise.
We would highly recommend Bestbrook Farmstay. We can’t wait to visit again soon.

Amazing place for an Aussie family holiday. Cabins were very comfortable with high quality linen and towels, washing machine and dryer as well as microwave, stove top and oven. Campfires outside each cabin really added to the experience. So much to do: The family were never bored as they experienced whip cracking, making damper, feeding animals and much more.
The staff at Bestbrooke treally make this a great experience. They are friendly, patient and nothing is too much trouble. The horse riding lessons were of a high standard and the safety aspect is managed with experienced staff.
The owners of the property have created a holiday experience that a family will remember fondly for many years.

What an absolute gem we found for our weekend getaway.
There are lots of different camping spots, including powered sites spread around the 500 acres. We were lucky enough to have our whole site to ourselves...apart from the visiting herd of cows, horses and other wildlife and pet dogs. Portable Showers and toilets were a short trek across the dry creek bed.
You can do as little or as much as you desire. Our 4yr old was kept busy feeding farm animals, milking cows, herding animals back into pens, cuddling chooks, horse riding and chatting to Charlie the cockatoo.
The homestead is the meeting place and we had a couple of funny yarns with the family over a cold drink and a cooked meal, all at very reasonable prices.
The Homestead comes complete with old school playground, pool, bar, restaurant and antique/ collectables shop

Stayed for 4 nights with 2 kids. The horse riding was the highlight. The pizzas at the restaurant were great ( $22 each for a medium sized). The location and experiences with livestock was great for the kids. We were expecting the accommodation to be more comfortable based on the price. Simple things like having a safety grate around the fire place would've made it easier to use with young kids. The furnishings were dated and unreliable. Some posts talk about a dryer being available but this was not the case for us. The washing machine was for communal use. Our hot water and electricity in one of the rooms went off in our first evening and we had difficulty locating the fusebox outside. The after hours emergency number was unattended and none of our voicemails were returned. We called this number again for when our bbq gas ran out at night and again wasn't able to connect. The customer service could improve. We felt badly for the welfare of some of the animals that were in cages and the state of their environment. As it is now a tourist farm only, it would be great if more work could be done to rehabilitate the environment ( based on feedback from staff). The creek was not in a healthy state. While we had a good time overall, we probably won't return primarily because of the facilities and customer service.

We have been to Bestbrook several times and stayed in cabins. It is laid back, affordable, and great fun for younger kids (up to about 11). The meals in the restaurant are good to very good (though some mains are not worth the $30 price tag). This being said, they do have several much cheaper options. They allow dogs, fires near your cabin and there is plenty of lawn area around each cabin. There was minimal water in the creek as there has been no rain for a very long time (but obviously this is beyond anyone's control). The kids still paddled and it was nice to walk along the creek bed. The constant truck noise/road trains all night long does disturb the serenity somewhat and the whole place is just very tired. If you are looking for something upmarket or glamourous, then this is not the place for you. In saying that, it is perfect for letting kids run around, playing in the creek, riding bikes, meeting the animals and not having to worry about fragile decor etc. It all depends on what you are looking for, I guess. We had a great time, but please don't expect an upmarket 'resort'. Think Grandma's old farmhouse! It was very, very clean despite the age of the cabin. The sheets were all crisp and fresh with lots of towels supplied. Sadly, the queen beds are cheap Amart versions and the timber slats weren't in properly. Hence one side collapsed briefly- so we lifted the mattress and found someone else must have the same problem as there was a rope attempting to stabilise the frame! Better beds would be great, yet we still slept ok. The single beds are proper ensembles and they were perfectly comfortable.
There were several hundred people there when we were there, but to be honest, it didn't feel like it as everyone is very spread out. Another bonus for this place is that it is exactly 1.5hrs from Brisbane city and you do not have to fight the coast traffic as so many other holidayers do. In a nutshell, it is basic but comfortable and brilliant for kids.

Camped as a group of 3 families over the October long weekend. Perfect weather with warm days and cool nights with a campfire. There was plenty of farm activities to do and the setting is picturesque.
There would have been in excess of 50 groups camping. There were 4 portaloos and 4 porta showers for at least 30 groups of families. By evening there was no toilet paper and by morning the portaloos were blocked and filthy. There was access by driving to a further 8 showers and toilets. However the cleaning of these facilities was also questionable with no toilet paper at multiple times throughout the day and evening and rubbish that was in one sink in the afternoon still there the following morning. The stay could have been significantly improved by increasing cleaning of the limited facilities to multiple times throughout the day, especially in the midst of a pandemic. Or providing more portaloos during peak periods such as school holidays. This cleanliness and lack of facilities would be the major deterrent in wanting to return in what was otherwise a great weekend camping.

For an established farm stay the facilities are run down and in need of updating. For an establishment that has been operating for sometime now port-a-loo’s were in disrepair with parts of the ceiling missing and in a putrid state. I would have thought a more permanent solution would have been organised.

The shower block located near gap creek is so small that it doesn’t matter where you put your clothes everything is getting wet, there was only 4 showers to service at least 25 campsites, making them quite inadequate. The gas that supplied the hot water also ran out meaning many campers had cold showers..The map of the farm stay is quite inaccurate which made finding where to set up a challenging experience and we had to contact reception.

On the upside the children enjoyed the horse riding however, this is an additional cost. The food in the restaurant is also another plus, delicious and large portions.

Overall, great place to stop on a day trip but would not recommend staying there to camp as the facilities aren’t worth the price tag.

I visited Bestbrook on the weekend with my husband and two young daughters, we had such an amazing time. The first day we arrived we participated in the whip cracking and boomerang throwing and had a ride on the wagon. That night we had dinner at the restaurant and the food was incredible, I was so impressed with the quality. The next day we fed the animals, including the pigs, sheep, birds and talking cockatoo, milked the cows, collected the eggs from the chooks, played on the huge playground they have for kids, made damper and billy tea around the fire, went horse riding, walked along the stream that passes through the property then had a fire out the back of our cabin and cooked S 'mores! The owners and staff are so genuine and lovely I cannot speak highly enough of them and how they treat their guests. We stayed in cabin 2, and each morning the horses would run past our cabin up to the front paddock to be fed and at night time they would pass back through. The second night a couple of them stopped for a pat and hung around for a bit, the kids had the most amazing time, they loved every bit of it. In our cabin we had a kitchen, separate bathroom, washing machine and dryer, a separate lounge, plus two bedrooms, it was a great little cabin. All of the activities and experiences I listed above are included in the price of your accommodation (except the horse riding). I highly recommend this farm stay, it is an incredible experience.

Friendly staff led us on a trail ride with beautifully trained horses followed by a lesson in old fashioned butter and damper making (and the eating of). The cabin was simple but had all the necessities. Food in the restaurant was fabulous with large meals.
A few tips - bring a load of wood if you go in Winter and don't want to pay for it, and definitely ask for directions from staff for the bushwalks as signs are rare.

We had a powered campsite down the back of the property which was great. Plenty of room, nice and flat, plenty of firepits. Amenities were portaloo style including showers. Very clean.
Food in the restaurant was very well priced and very tasty.
Wouldn't quite recommend going in December as it was HOT 35 to 38 degrees which made the pool a saving grace and we spent a lot of time in it.
Farm activities were great for the kids and adults, animal feeding, milking, horse riding, damper and butter making (butter was the best I have ever tasted).
Very dog friendly and our pooch had a ball as well.

Hi Kylee. We used hot water from the kettle (which we boiled on our camping stove) for dishes water. There are taps at a couple of locations for filling water containers. Hope that helps a bit. Cheers
