For those wanting a faster pace, there is mountain biking, bush walking, ATV property tours and archery. Being a nature refuge, the land is abundant with native wildlife including hundreds of Kangaroos and Wallabies and regular koala sightings. Spicers Hidden Vale has 34 rooms. Choose from Valley View Rooms which overlook the mountains, a cottage for groups or for the ultimate experience, a Luxury Suite which is stand alone with spacious lounge, spa and private verandah.

Some things are wonderful but there are a few issues.
First the positives - the rooms (really little cottages) are great - well thought out with large bedroom, very comfortable beds and quality bedding, a comfortable lounge room, good size bathroom and separate toilet and outside private deck. Breakfasts are very good. Only minor issue is a very small bar fridge.
2nd - the problems. Spicers is one of the few 5-star accommodation places in Australia that require full payment on booking. (OK - if they can get away with that, fair enough). I booked and paid 7 months ahead. So, I was surprised to suddenly find a $120 charge on my credit card a week or two before arriving without any explanation. On ringing, I was told room costs had risen since I booked despite what I thought was a contract. I then emailed the manger. The charge was reversed with apologies but why it happened in the first place is a mystery.
Other issues were associated with the restaurant. Due to its location, we virtually had to eat there every night of our stay. The food is excellent -and hard to fault. But the only option is a 3-courses meal. My wife is not a big eater and only wanted a few scoops of ice cream on our 2nd night for her third course. Only 3 desserts were offered, and all were "heavy" (cake based) . Although we were charged for the full courses, she was charged $6 extra for her non menu ice cream. Again, this was reversed on a query but should not have happened in a 5 star establishment.
Also, at lunch time there is also only a set number of courses - no availability for a just a light meal or a snack other than a cheese board. Little things like this could be considered for a more enjoyable stay.

We booked the 2 bedroom suite for our stay, being three friends we found the suite to be nicely decorated and cosy. We had a small sitting area included in the suite with two arm chairs and a window seat, this was lovely but it would have been nice to have a TV included in this area or a small fireplace as I know the 2 bedroom cottages have this.
Upon arrival we were greeted warmly and given complementary Prosecco in the bar area. One of the team members - Sebastian was our favourite host for our 2 night stay & ensured we were well looked after. We especially enjoyed the Garden Market tour where the Chef took us around the produce being grown for their paddock to plate experience. Plus the cheese and wine experience where Sebastian showcased three local wines with matched cheese was fun and light hearted. We loved to sit around the outdoor fire pit wrapped in warm fluffy blankets in the early evening before dinner, we were very well taken care of and all the staff were very attentive.
The breakfast was offered via menu, not a buffet style and took a little while, so be prepared to sit leisurely and look out to the beautiful scenery. We spent the day reading books by the pool and in the hot spa, you can order drinks to be delivered to you or to your room. Dinner was included in our package and we enjoyed the three-courses, knowing most of the ingredients had been handpicked form their garden was a great touch.
I will definitely return, perhaps trying another Spicer’s Retreat now knowing how the service and quality is.

This was our second visit to Spicers Hidden Vale Both times have been for a special celebration and on each occasion we have been made to feel very special. On this occasion we were welcomed with a complimentary bottle of wine on arrival to our room which was such a special thought and greatly appreciated. We booked a room, dinner and breakfast package and stayed in the 2 bedroom suite with our friends. The room was fabulous with 2 separate hotel style bedrooms with ensuites and then had a common sitting room with 2 comfy lounge chairs and a fabulous large window seat that looked out over the lawn to the lap pool and valley below. There was also a small outdoor patio which was a lovely spot to enjoy a morning cuppa. Dinner was fantastic in the Homage restaurant with such a tasty array of flavours of onsite and local foods. The staff were so attentive and accommodating with service and photos. This was our first visit since the new homestead has been built and it is such a credit to Spicers to have created such a beautiful space following the original theme of the old homestead. We enjoyed pre dinner drinks out on the verandah as well as breakfast in the morning and the views out over the valley are stunning at the moment with everything so green. All staff, from check in... to restaurant... to grounds... to cleaning, were super friendly and our stay was most enjoyable. Thank you. We did not want to leave and can't wait to return.

The staff are all friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming.
The food was well presented and delicious with care taken to meet dietary needs.
Great activity options, we did archery, scotch tasting and the market garden tour.

We had a lovely stay out at Spicers. Our room (Heritage Suite) was immaculate and cosy. We enjoyed the cheese and wine tasting (well worth it, as you get full glasses of wine, not tasting sizes). Food is excellent as always, the 3 course dinner was delicious. Also enjoyed the wildlife tour we went on. Beautiful gardens, buildings and pool. Would stay again!

We definitely recommend this property as a private peaceful getaway with all the comforts of a weekend of luxury. Hidden away, as the name suggests, is a private resort retreat for those who enjoy sensational food, sensational views and sensational service. From the moment of arrival to the sad farewell, we were greeted by staff who were attentive and friendly. The accomodation was comfortable with that 5 star appeal, the fireplace being an added bonus to warm up the cottage. Very roomy 3 room cottage with a front and back porch to relax outside. The grounds were immaculate and the whole environment was relaxing. Dinner was on another level! Each course was presented well and oh so flavoursome - have to say it was the best courses we have had EVER! The chefs need to be congratulated for sending our tastebuds on a culinary journey. We wish we could have stayed another night as our stay was too short - will aim for a luncheon on the terrace overlooking the valley below as our next venture to Hidden Vale. Thank you for everything.

We were really looking forward to our weekend at Hidden Vale and could not have been more disappointed.

Our room was not particularly clean, with dead bugs and dead flies. Stains on the bed head. The handle fell off in the shower as did the toilet roll holder.

We had two breakfasts and two dinners at the Homage restaurant and only one of them we enjoyed. The first dinner, the Wagyu was quite nice, however it went downhill from there. We like creative food however the bacon and eggs was almost unpalatable.

Lunch at The Barn even worse the food was simply revolting.

Spicers sent me a feedback questionnaire which I completed with all of the above comments. You would think for the amount of money we had paid that at least they would acknowledge the feedback, we gave heard nothing.

I think the only thing that they are good at is marketing. It is a real shame the experience doesn’t live up to the brochure.

We didn’t stay at the hotel - just went to the restaurant. The menu has changed and you have to spend $65 for one course or $85 for 2 courses. The food took ages to arrive and was average and small in size - definitely not worth $65. We all left hungry. Unfortunately won’t be returning as it’s a beautiful location. Spend your money elsewhere.

Dear Azura28, Thank you for your review. We are pleased we were able to offer a one course option as part of our ever-changing menu. We do highly recommend either 2 or 3 courses for the full hatted experience. For a more relaxed dining option, our Barn is also open for lunch each weekend. It is wonderful to hear you enjoyed the location where we are fortunate to be situated within 12,000 acres of beautiful, undulating landscape. We would love to welcome you to our Barn dining as an alternate option for the future. Best regards, The team at Hidden Vale

We’ve been married and run a business for over 20 years. Our stay at Spicers Hidden vale was just what the Dr ordered. We can’t recommend the gorgeous, classy rooms and epic views highly enough. The return to nature: views and hikes; and visiting the animals here was refreshing and a great destress. It is a bit off grid but worth it. The only slight negative was my dryyyy pork schnitzel and the hubbys tough steak. The meals looked first class - so maybe this was a one off. Still edible and enjoyed our night regardless. Deserts were lovely. Staff were great. Cocktail menu could use some pizazz.
You can bring your furiend if you’re willing to stay in the China room. (But you will miss out on the epic view from other rooms). There are balconies on the nice rooms but I don’t believe dogs are permitted on these.

Dear juliaaD431TU, Thank you very much for your review. It is so wonderful to hear Spicers Hidden Vale provided a much-needed break for you. Being situated amongst 12,000 acres certainly provides an opportunity to immerse yourself in nature. Set within the rolling hills of the Little Liverpool Ranges, many of our rooms capture views and we’re so pleased you enjoyed this aspect of your stay. We’re so glad your dessert at Homage was lovely and thank you for your feedback on the other elements of this experience. We look forward to welcoming you again.
