Detailed Reviews
Our family of 4 loved our 4 night stay at this small resort. The kids (7 & 5) favourite part was the pool.
Facilities: I loved the gardens, really felt like we were staying in a rainforest. We used the shared outdoor bbqs most nights for dinner which were useful, with bbq utensils and working lights. There’s a pool and wading pool which our kids used each day. The outdoor spa wasn’t working while we were there. Tennis courts are available but we didn’t use them. There is a games room, however most of the machines were out of order.
The cabin had a sufficient kitchen for our stay, medium size fridge/freezer, pots, pans, bowls, etc. however no dishwasher, no washing machine or dryer, although the resort did have coin machines available.
The air conditioner seemed to be too small for the space and was still very hot especially in the loft. There was a shower over bath, the bath was a tiny size but our kids loved it anyway. I couldn’t get the window to stay open to let the steam out. There was a pedestal fan that we used in the bedroom. The bedroom was big enough and had lots of areas to store bags/clothes etc. the bed was a bit hard but bearable.
Location: The location was excellent, very close to beach access and loads of great swimming spots nearby: Kelly’s beach( a shallow tidal area great for kids), Bargara Beach Basin (for snorkelling to see reef fish) and Elliot Heads inlet.
There’s a Woolworths and Aldi 5 mins drive away.
10 mins drive to Mon Repos Turtle Conservation Centre, which was our initial draw card to this area. Definitely a must-see!
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and the negatives pointed out here didn’t outweigh the wonderful location, relaxing vibe and lovely staff.

AMAZING!!! From start to finish the stay at Kelly’s Beach Resort was super cool, not everyday you get to experience a 2m Python hanging out at your Villa. Lucky they friendly Pythons and just carry on about there day 😉 We enjoyed every bit of the resort from the cool pools to the tennis court there is plenty for every member of the family to stay entertained. For myself who likes to eat and have the odd beer or 2 the resorts Restaurant was my favourite we dined in there 2 nights over our stay and both times the food Amazing from the generous kids meals to the well cooked steak it was faultless!! Hats off to the Chef “Pip” and the great staff.
The location of the resort was super convenient with a short walk to patrolled beaches and the bustling little Main Street of Bargara.
Highly recommend the stay and we cannot wait to get back.
Thanks heaps to all 😉

Hi 173leighg, Thanks for taking the time to leave us feedback on your experience here at Kellys - so glad you and your family had a wonderful time! We will be passing on all your lovely comments to each department :) The python was definitely a surprise for us as well - not a usual occurence to have in the middle of the day but I think he seemed a bit full! Hope he hadn't eaten one of our resident possums! We look forward to welcoming you all back another time :)

This was a lovely setting although it says one block from the beach it is not a short walk especially with kids and carrying stuff. It is a 30 min walk to the closest shops. There is a public bus stop close by, but it only runs hourly and not at night or weekend afternoons. 25 min trip to Bundaberg and goes past Bargara shops. The reception is not big on giving out information had to find all this our ourselves. We did not eat at the restaurant. We had an eco villa for 2 of us but it did have 4 extra single beds in the loft part. The living area was small and no table and chairs inside only 4 bar stools. Table and chairs for 4 on the deck part. The toilet and bathroom are very cramped.
The kitchen lacks a few things, no cutting board, no sharp knives and minimal other things. We used the washing machines in the communal laundry, $4 a wash and dryers same price. There is a drying rack in the room. We had a car and the weather not hot enough to swim so did some day trips. Childers festival, Bundaberg Rum tour, Lady Musgrave island day tour.
We took the car back on the last day and ordered a shuttle to the Bundaberg railway station from Bargara $44 for up to 4 people. Sign was on noticeboard in reception.

Hi Retirees51 Thanks for providing your feedback on your stay with us, we are situated one block back but the beach is only two minutes walking distance from the back gates. We do not advertise that we are in the main part of Bargara or that we are walking distance to shops - we are situated a little further away from the town centre away from the hustle and bustle but there is a milk bar/convenience store only 5-10 mins walk from the resort. As a sleepy seaside town in regional queensland the public transport is limited compared to city life but there is taxis available :) We hope you enjoyed the Childers Festival and the day trips around our region - we do actually have a heated pool for swimming! All the best with your future travels!

With all the COVID cleaning in place we had used cake of soap from previous people left in the shower. The drain area of bath tub was filthy , glad I didn’t have children that needed to use bath. One bath towel appeared stained. Tv remote didn’t work. Thought kitchen light bulb blown on leaving passed on these problems & was told light switch for kitchen is behind fridge, seems an odd place for it. Gardens & grounds could use a good tidy up. Restaurant meal steak was not cooked as ask, mine was tough & dry & most unable to be eaten, ask for medium well done, meal time was dragged out to almost 2 hrs. Cancelled on restaurant booking for second night. Had to wave down staff to get another drink. All staff were friendly. Had visited here twice many years ago & it was excellent, I think it is now run down & not looked after properly. Not sure I would return again after this experience, sad to see it this way. A bit disappointed with it all

Hi Glenda, Thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback on your experience here with us. We are truly dissapointed to hear this was your experience. We will be taking your feedback back to our contract cleaning company as this should not have happened. The management is still the same, however we are running off smaller staff due the impacts Covid-19 had on our industry and still trying to get staff back but finding this difficult due to most choosing to remain on Job-Seeker. We do truly apologise for your experience and will be taking your feedback on board to all departments.

First, this is not a 'resort'. The 'villas' are better described as cabins. They lack all the amenities of a resort: air conditioning in every room, a box of tissues, bathroom products (no shampoo or conditioner), beach towels, spare bath towels. Even the instant coffee is the cheapest brand available and very poor quality.
The cabins have a living and kitchen area, a bedroom, and a loft with extra beds. There is no insulation so the cabins become ovens during the day. One small air conditioner in a Queensland summer is simply not adequate for this space!
The cabins have different owners so the level of comfort depends on the priorities of the owner of the cabin you are staying in. The bed in my cabin needed a new mattress. Instead, a piece of foam had been put on top of the mattress. This changed the discomfort from lumpy to sink-in-the-middle. Either way, it was not conducive to a good night's sleep.
The restaurant is good and the staff are friendly and helpful. However, these do not make up for poor accommodation which is what guests are paying for.

HI Megan, Thanks for taking the time to leave us feedback on your stay - we are disappointed to hear you did not enjoy your accommodation here with us at Kellys. The villas are 3.5star rated under Self Catering Accommodation compared to serviced apartments - of which what is supplied in your accommodation meets that criteria - not tissues, beach towels, shampoo etc. These things would be supplied for 4 star rated properties and over. Whilst the villas are individually owned we do try as management to ensure all improvements particularly things like furniture etc are replaced together to ensure the villas maintain a similar look and keep them unified. We have in the last year replaced the single mattresses and new couches are on their way however due to Covid delays with freight are taking longer than thought. Some mattresses have had good foam mattress toppers purchased to assist with comfort until a new bed can be purchased not just a piece of foam. We do apologise you were not comfortable during your time with us and wish you the best with your future travels.

Firstly, the service was amazing, so helpful and friendly, prompt and easy to communicate with. They made us feel like they appreciated our stay with them. Villas and grounds are so well set out, very comfortable, feel private, well kept and well stocked with all we needed and more. Great water pressure, The facilities are amazing. Perfect for our basketball team and a top spot for families or even a couple. I have recommended to everyone and we'll be staying again for certain.

Stayed a couple of nights in winter and had a nice stay. Staff are very pleasant and helpful. Dinner at the restaurant was very nice. The standard bungalow room was fine for our stay, big enough for a couple, although the floor was not the cleanest. Note that you need to climb a ladder to get upstairs, would be great fun for bigger kids but I wouldn't send littlies up there! There is of course the main bedroom downstairs. Kitchen had everything we needed. It was very peaceful and quiet and we had no noise issues at all. Wifi was not always the best but we noted we also had problems in the evening connecting to both optus and telstra so it might be a telco issue rather than a wifi specific issue. We thought it very reasonably priced for very close to the beach.

The resort has a great relaxing and comfortable vibe, Wonderful and well maintained grounds with lots of paths to wander to the spa, pool, tennis courts and restaurant. The villa was very roomy, the queen bed comfy, kitchen was good size with tea, coffee and milk provided. The loft would be great for kids. Reverse cycle worked really well considering the size of the villa. A 20 minute walk up to the Bargara Lakes Tavern for great food, We took the courtesy bus back after dinner. Would stay again.

We have now stayed at Kelly's "Resort" twice - the first and last time!
Admittedly we were informed that we would be staying in one of the older villas and they certainly got that right.
It was falling apart - doors not closing properly, floors bouncing like a trampoline, light globes needing replacement etc.
Front of house gardens were well maintained but don't look behind the villas or near the carports. Weeds and vines everywhere. Pity that this is the first thing you see as this is the entry to the villas from the carport.
But it's the little things that leave the most lasting impression.
I have stayed in resorts for over 50 years and this is the first time I have ever been asked to purchase 2 extra sachets of sugar.
We (two adults) were booked in for three nights and to refuse to restock simple items was unbelievable.
I thought Bundaberg was one of the largest sugar producing areas in the world. Kelly's stocked Bundaberg sugar - but at a price (I never asked how much!).
The best view of Kelly's was from the rear vision mirror!

Hi Ken, Thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback on your stay with us - we were expecting this as you did mention to our reservations clerk that you would be doing so. We do apologise this impacted your stay so adversely when you came to get sugar & she explained about our starter pack. We do try to keep our costs down for our guests so we only provide a starter pack of tea, coffee, sugar & milk etc as mentioned in both your booking information email & your confirmation email. We do apologise if you missed this information and for the inconvenience that this caused. We thank you for your feedback and wish you all the best with your future travels.

We spent 4 nights at Kelly’s after a week with our 4 adult children (all early 20’s) so we REALLY enjoyed the quiet. Our stay was also soon after the peak school holiday season so occupancy was low and we almost felt like we had the place to ourselves. Bathroom & kitchen facilities in the cabin were very compact but manageable for 2 guests.
The setting is lovely and peaceful and only a few minutes walk to the beach. The grounds are very well kept, guest facilities are good (yay for a laundry!) and the staff were lovely. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay & will definitely be back.

Sorry we made an error - we stayed at CASEY'S not Kelly's Beach. It is a hotel/motel not a caravan park.
It is 4 hours by bus from Brisbane to Bargara. Day trips to the reef start from $218.00. We hope this helps
