Hillview Heritage Estate Surrounded by the beautiful rivers and valleys of the Southern Highlands, Hillview Heritage Hotel offers a delightful country escape that boasts a rich history and a romantic atmosphere. Conveniently located only an hour and a half south of Sydney, our cottages combine all the comforts of home with the sophistication of a beautiful Sutton Forest country estate. Relax and take in the stunning views, pause to look at the sculptures designed by local artisans, wander the seven acres of luscious parks and gardens, explore the quaint boutiques and cafe’s in the nearby towns of Moss Vale and Bowral, or simply relax in your spacious, private cottage enjoying a warm soak in one of our traditional claw-foot baths. Constructed in the 1850s, the main house acted as a country retreat for the 16 governors and hosted regal guests, such as The Prince of Wales, Prince Edward, and Archduke Franz Ferdinand. Hillview is a very special place awaiting your visit.

Loved our suite, the views over the countryside, the estate grounds, the tranquillity and the excellent king bed. Damien our host gave us everything we needed and our stay was as we expected and more. We walked the grounds in the mornings with cups of tea in hand and our three-legged poodle couldn't have been happier. This magnificent heritage estate has a few 'charming' quirks that added to its appeal and made us feel like we were visiting Governors from yesteryear, with the tree-lined roadway leading to the property, high ceilings and French doors to our verandah. Our relaxation of doona extravaganza was punctuated by trips around the Highlands where everything is within ten minutes' drive. Will visit again.

This is one of the worst! Nothing works. Coffee in room but no cups. Unidentified goo in hand basin. Dirty. Rusted hand basin and bath. Bath shower floods bathroom. Owner was having a " nap" at 6 pm when we checked in and had no idea who we were and mixed up our booking. I booked four rooms for a wedding. The first room he booked us into had two fold out beds in a dark stale smelling Setting. The mini bar didn't even have water. The breakfast consisted of a box of cereal. The cottages are spacious but poorly maintained. Spaces between floorboards. Bedside table light fell apart when turned on. No wardrobe. Used wine glass found in toilet. All of the four rooms had some sort of major problem due to neglect. On the plus side (singular) the bed was very comfortable. It could be…

If you have dogs and need a break from Sydney don't look any further than the Hillview Heritage Hotel. A Friday afternoon drive took about 1 hour and 45 minutes with the host, Damien greeting us on arrival. We made our way to our cabin, the "General Sir Northcott" and opened the door to the 1900's. We had a lovely cast iron bath with a huge bed and a separate secure garden for the dog to roam around. The gas fire was already on when we entered the room which was a nice touch as it was freezing outside. I believe some rooms have actual log fires but as this was a last minute booking it was the only room available so we had to make do with the next best thing. There isn't much around the property but there is plenty of space to walk the dog and view some of the fantastic…

We recently booked a weekend at Hillview and it delivered everything we were looking for. The host, Damien, had the room cosy and warm on arrival, the fireplace laid and fully stocked with timber, and the kitchen stocked with bread and cereal, milk and juice , butter and jam and plunge coffee. We settled in and immediately noticed the peace and quiet of the cottage. Damien’s local knowledge of superb dining options was put to the test and the local winery chosen for dinner that night was 1st class. A walk around the grounds gave us an appreciation of the restoration work that Damien has put into Hillview and what it would have been like to attend a country retreat back at the turn of the 1900’s. We left fully rested and re-energized after our weekend away and would recommend…

We arrived with three other couples on a cold winters day after travelling from Sydney. Each June we travel and stay in a different country guest house and we arrived looking forward to an interesting and fun weekend. Driving up the tree lined drive we we were immediately struck by the established look of the estate, the elms, poplars oaks and eucalyptus trees were obviously planted years ago to replicate the English countryside, and succeed it does as one wanders around the spacious old gardens and wooded copses. It was a dull day and the red tinge of the falling leaves blowing gently around in the cool breeze set the scene for the weekend to come. Around the drive to the top of the hill one had a sense of peace and quiet descending as one drew up to the main building which was…

We had a family weekend at Hillview at the beginning of May to celebrate my mothers 80th birthday. Damien was super helpful with the booking and very charming and hospitable during our stay. The property is beautiful, the house holds so much history and the cottages are spacious and charming. We had a fantastic time and were so happy that our dogs were made so welcome. It manages to combine lovely decor with being truly dog friendly.
