Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The property and view exceeded expectations and Damian was a fantastic host. Plenty to do in the area, although the accommodation is so charming, you could easily spend the entire weekend on the property if you felt inclined. Amazing sunset views across the valley. The flexible approach to the checkout timing and process is an absolute bonus. We'll definitely be back!

We had our wedding at Hillview Heritage Hotel in March this year (2017). The main house, gardens and surrounds and the rooms were all fantastic, and fit perfectly with our vintage wedding theme. Damien, the host and his staff were wonderful too. He was accommodating and responsive to our every need. Organising a wedding can be stressful, but dealing with Damien was an absolute pleasure, he was so helpful, warm and welcoming. Being a pet friendly venue meant we could have our fur baby Aston part of the whole weekend of celebrations. This meant so much to us! We had an amazing weekend as did all of our guests. We thoroughly recommend Hillview for either events or weekends away. We can't wait to go back for our anniversary!

We booked two cottages for an event we were attending in the Southern Highlands of NSW. Two couples in all and out host Damien was very courteous. The cabins needs a thorough clean, looked like it had been a while. The beds were comfortable and sheets and towels fresh and clean. A bit stingy only one tiny cake of soap to share between the basin and the shower. Its like stepping back in time to pioneers cottages only with TV and tea and coffee making facilities. Tired and in need of a clean and a spruce up. The owners sculptures are dotted throughout the spacious grounds and its only a short drive to Moss Vale for groceries as no breakfast was offered . If you're looking for 5 star this isn't for you but if you don't mind dirty feet getting into bed you'll enjoy your rustic

wonderful heritage listed property which is quiet, clean, and a mix of old and new. spectacular views and the hosts are welcoming and are able to give an interesting rundown on the history of the property with a look into some of the grand furniture and architecture of the times. Light breakfasts supplied with very clean facilities, cosy bed and a fireplace for those cold nights. A perfect base for a look around the southern highlands

The advertised kitchen is not a kitchen. We had a kettle (water to be filled from beautiful old high sides bathtub), toaster and microwave; No sink, no cooktop or oven. It would not have been a problem, apart from the fact that there was absolutely no room service. We stayed for 2 nights. After our first very basic breakfast, dishes were still dirty later in the day, as no one made our room. We were told (via sms) that there was a plastic bassinet and soap provided to wash the dishes (assuming in the bathtub). We would not expect that for a place calling itself a hotel charging $539 for 2 nights. There was no amenities that even cheap motel would provide - Not even shower soap (just 2 small hand soaps). Grounds are beautiful, and old heritage property is impressive.

Stayed here for two nights for a local wedding. So much better than expected! We stayed in the old servants quarters. Bed was comfy, room was cozy and clean bathroom had a claw foot bath! Would stay again for sure and stay in a room with a view of the countryside. The grounds are magnificent with lovely art pieces around property and seats to soak in the view. Did not want to leave and never heard or seen another guest until it was time to leave fantastic place i will definately be back!

Really enjoyed staying here last weekend. Rooms are cosy (and warm!) and the grounds are really attractive. Friendly and unobtrusive service and a good spot to explore the area. We were 2 families of 8 in 3 "cottages" so had space to spreadh out and hang out.

My wife and I were looking for a secluded getaway with a view. This property most certainly ticked absolutely every box. The styling of the cottage we stayed in was to die for, the property itself wonderful and filled with amazing art, statues and quirkiness that you would expect from such a property. We have both agreed this is our new quick getaway from Canberra. Thank you Damien!

We are a newlywed couple and spent the Queen's long weekend at Hillview Heritage Hotel. Initially, we weren't sure what to expect, but were most pleasantly surprised by a beautiful, peaceful, romantic and history-filled place. Upon arrival, we drove down a long tree-lined driveway, already transporting us to another world. The main house was secluded at the hilltop, and the surrounds commanded breathtaking country vistas - easily can imagine why the Governor-generals of the day would choose such place for a summer retreat. Our Vice-Marshall Wilcott cottage, which was located at the back of main house, was cosy (both the gas and electric heaters in the living room and bedroom respectively were already on when we arrived), romantic (with the dim glow of the chandeliers, the red

I recently stayed at Hillview Heritage Hotel (The Admiral Rawson Cottage) with my partner and two children (11 and 7). Damien was very welcoming and we were able to find the property easily, even at night. The cottage was rustic, which was exactly what we were after. Damien had the heaters on and the fire ready to be lit when we arrived. The views and location were perfect for us, far enough away to be quiet, but close enough to get to everything we wanted to see over the weekend. The only thing I would mention was that a continental breakfast was included. In the cottage we found bread, milk, juice and tea and coffee. There was also a box of muesli, but I wasn't exactly sure if this was the continental breakfast. If so, it would have been fine for my partner and I, but the
