Visited fur one night as part of a birthday getaway Suren the Southern Highlands. Stayed one night in one of the cottages. The cottage was warm and cosy and had lovely features true to the period it was built in. The host Damien was very friendly, approachable and welcoming. Would certainly recommend for a stay, maybe two or three nights though if you have the time.

I have been going to the Southern Highlands to visit family for over 20 years. Never in my wildest dreams did I expect to find such a lovely place to stay as this. The room and bed were super comfortable. The bathroom was spectacular. The breakfast was lovely. And the rural setting nestled at the base of the mountain on the golf course was amazing. Our conference dinner was absolutely fantastic as was the warm welcoming service. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Stayed for a weekend to attend a wedding being held onsite. Sits atop a hill with views all around. The historic manor and cottages have been kept in the style for the period. Very quiet, country environment, great for walks and many sculptures to see. Stayed in one of the cottages. The owner was very helpful with anything that was needed for the wedding party guests.

The hotel allows pet to stay, however, we checked in on a very hot day, it was 40 degrees outside, and there was no a/c, not to mention a fan, we had to quickly drop our belongings and went out so that our dogs can cool down in the car. It was extremely hot in the cottage and with no a/c or fan available, it was unbearable to stay in the cottage. 2 hours later after looking for a place around Mossvale to sit down outside in the heat with two dogs, we decided to check out and pay full-price for the 2 nights we booked not expecting that the living conditions would be in this horrific stage. If you are traveling with dogs during summer time, please bear in mind that the cottage doesn't have any a/c or fan, and if you and your dogs are able to cope with this temperature (38

Response from HILLVIEWHERITAGE, Owner at Hillview Heritage Estate

I am sorry that you experienced a disappointing stay during the recent heatwave. Two of our cottages are air conditioned and the rest all have fans. If you had alerted us that you could not locate the fan we would have assisted. All cottages also have fly screens and with windows open there is excellent cross ventilation as temperatures are always cooler in the highlands in the evening even during extreme weather conditions. Regards Damien

My wife & I recently stayed (with another couple from Canberra) and had a great long weekend away from Sydney. Reading manor house history and enjoying the warmth of the multiple fireplaces helped make our stay memorable. We stayed in the traditional rooms (in the manor house) and they are well presented and warm. If you are looking for a weekend away to enjoy local vineyards, restuarants or peace and quiet, then look no further.

the good : unique old manor filled with character. Just what you'd expect a country estate to look like. Quiet, super relaxing. Great for a little romantic week-end away. Good value at $200 odd a night. Lots of good food options nearby - for foodies and pub lovers alike. Friendly and helpful host who kindly showed us around the old manor rooms so we could take the history in.. The "could be better": with such a huge mansion, it would be great to just have maybe one small common room with a fire and lounges that you can sit and read a book, or even chat to other people. In winter, a room with a fire completes the country escape experience, but unfortunately you're confined to your cottage at HHH. Still, we had a good time.

Booked at short notice online and arrived to a very roomy cottage with heaters going, which was really appreciated on such a cold day. Bed was comfortable and no street noise. Continental breakfast was provided. Milk was out of date but still ok and some of the fruit was very old. A wash up bowl was provided but no detergent or sponge. We used a face washer and shampoo. There were a few books and pamphlets in the room but no information on the property. Had to go online to find out the history of the place. Good location and plenty to do in the area. On checkout couldn't find anyone to leave key with. Overall, definitely a lovely place to stay and very good value.

Great location and awesome sculptures in the grounds. We did not meet Damien until the last day when we were leaving. The cottage was comfortable but for the price, lacking in a few things. The bed was two singles pushed together and they were at different heights. The shower leaked so the bathroom floor was constantly wet. Good breakfast supplied and it was very warm warm.

My adult daughter and I just enjoyed a weekend at Hillview, and we'd go back in a heartbeat! The cottage had all comforts required as well as character and sense of history. Loved the outdoor eating/relaxing areas where you could enjoy the gardens and superb views. Strolling round the gardens, taking in the beauty of nature and fascinating sculptures was a delight. Everywhere you could see signs of the governors' summer sojourns there. Damian proved a wonderful host, with a captivating enthusiasm for the history of the place, and the future of Hillview as locus of sculpture in the region. We felt it was a privilege to stay there.

Damien was an extremely friendly and helpful host making us feel very welcome on arrival We stayed in cottage 4 which was spacious and had a kitchenette, comfy bed with good quality linen, and the over all ambience of the cottage was colonial rustic exactly what is shown on various web sites Didn't experience the inviting wood fire on offer being our stay was in summer The little added extra of a light continental breakfast is appreciated Nice enclosed verandah a good reading room and at the same time affording a lovely out look The cottage is pet friendly which was a bonus for us Will definitely return to use that wood fire The grounds are a special treat with many an interesting sculptures to ponder over
