It's nearly four years since the last time I tried to stay here. Nothing has improved in all that time. Four years ago I got as far as the reception before walking out having met the VERY rude receptionist. I wish I'd learned my lesson. Although the young lady receptionist was helpful and pleasant that is where anything positive came to halt. The public areas of the hotel very scruffy and freezing cold. The SMELL in the corridor leading to the bedrooms is unbelievable!!! Rotten cabbage? Blocked drains? I've no idea what it was but it was overpowering and disgusting. The room itself was warm and reasonably clean. However, there was no plug in the wash-hand basin. The wooden window frames were rotten and hadn't been painted for years. The paintwork was chipped and cracked. But that smell......! Stomach turning! When I mentioned these defects, AND THE SMELL, to a different receptionist as we left in morning, he made it obvious he didn't care. There are lots of far better places in the area. Do yourself a huge favour and go to one of those instead!…

I arrived a few days ago and was waiting at reception. A young girl in glasses was on reception and checking in a male. She asked him about payment and an extremely rude and abrupt male from the back began shouting at her. She apologised to the customer and the male in the back continued to be abrupt to her in front of the customers. She did her best to apologise but he clearly didn’t care whilst sat down letting her do all of the work. I have met other members of staff who are so polite and a male with brown hair who couldn’t help enough and this young lady is the same. It’s such a shame this rude member of staff is allowed to talk to people in that way.

I spent 6 nights at this hotel since I was in Cannock for training. The room they put me in was filthy. There was a thick layer of dust on every surface, the chairs were filthy and covered in hair, hairs in the bed, hair all over the bathroom, dirty shower and toilet, kettle was filthy and the tray it sat on was filthy too, the hair dryer had dried splatters of something all over it, one of the towels was clearly dirty and stained and had been folded and put back in the cupboard, the room smelled like wet dog, and the room had no heat. They moved me to a different room the next day and it was much cleaner but not 100%. The shower walls were dirty, it was a little dusty, and the floors needed to be hoovered, but the room overall was much cleaner than the previous room and I had heat!!! Although the 1st room was absolutely appalling, the bed was brand new, walls had been painted, and it looked like it had brand new carpet and light covers as well. The hotel is in desperate need of updating and repairs. I do have to say, the food there was excellent. Everything was always hot and fresh at breakfast and dinner, and the staff were wonderful. They were always friendly and helpful every time I saw them. I definitely would not stay there again.…

Had a awful experience was approached by men begging and asking to use our mobile phone in the car park on first day let it go as thought is was one off had the same happen next day, we decided to leave and reported to staff on our departure, asked for refund was denied however we haven’t even received an apology, hotel needs to a updated decoration we paid for our dogs to stay but couldn’t use the bar as no dogs were allowed even tho there was hardly anyone in the bar, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel they need to make sure future visitors do not suffer the same experience especially when these people were not wearing masks and approaching us without any social distancing and couldn’t wait for us to even get out of our car first. Please be careful if you Decide to stay here

I found the building in desperate need of TLC the interior and exterior both need updating,house keeping was rubbish, no one cleaned our room or took rubbish away,we sat in the bar one afternoon had drinks went back 4 hours later and our table that we had wasn't cleaned up,hygiene risk,needs to be shut down,needs a major revamp
