Aparthotel Fontanellas Playa offers a mixed bag for guests, with its spacious rooms and stunning beachfront location receiving high praise. However, reviewers have raised concerns about room soundproofing, dated facilities, and cleanliness issues. While the proximity to the beach and varied dining options are a hit, the pool area can be overcrowded and in-room amenities, including lighting, may need an upgrade. Despite some service inconsistencies, the staff's friendliness stands out. Yet, travelers often feel the hotel does not provide good value, citing steep prices for services and additional charges.

We stayed at the hotel for the second time over Christmas. The complex is located right in front of the large and well maintained beach next to Can Pastilla. The Junior Suite is large and has a nice bathroom. However, in room 530 the mattresses were extremely through. So we had to stuff pillows under it. The safe was also broken. The staff is very helpful and friendly and the breakfast is rich. However, the Christmas dinner was very excessive for 75 € per person. The pool area is great and there are plenty of sunbeds. However, we believe that in such a price category the pool belongs at least heated to 20°. The staffing was also much too thin around Christmas. So there were long waiting times on the outdoor terrace in the service. Nevertheless, we felt very comfortable all in all. Just one last thing. The fact that you have to wait in a line of over 30 people at breakfast in the morning and wait almost 20 minutes to be assigned a table by a lady is not possible at all.

We stayed in a sea view apartment which was beautiful, very clean and spacious. Cleaners were extremely friendly and efficient. Huge balcony with a gorgeous view and very close to everything. Reception staff were not very friendly and accommodating, on our last day we wanted to shower before going to the airport and we were told there was showers available. There is a 20€ deposit per towel(cash only) which we were not informed on prior to this and we did not have 60€ cash with us, meaning we couldn’t get towels for our showers.

Gym in the hotel is excellent with a great variety of equipment, indoor pool is not as nice as it it very stuffy and hot.

Overall was a great experience.

It's the second time I've been and I'll keep staying there every time I go.

Spacious apartment, bathroom, comfortable beds, as well as the sofa bed.
The receptionists very friendly as always, from the food service I can not say, the laundry service very well.
The pool, although I have not used it by the date, does seem a little small for the whole hotel.
The situation is unbeatable, right opposite the beach.
To park very easy as always and also the Carrefour Express that is just below the hotel is magnificent.
The worst thing I have seen this time is the cleaning, they have not changed the sheets in a whole week, even there are chocolate stains, etc. The day before we left there was no bath gel, they filled it with a little water because the rest of the gel came out with water.
The kitchen towel, after two days I threw it to wash and the remaining 5 days we were without a towel, we did not have another one replaced.
And the bathroom sink was very poorly cleaned, or uncleaned, because there was some stain that was there all week.
I am not very demanding on the subject of cleanliness when I go to hotels, but this time I have seen quite a few ugly details on this subject.
Despite this, I will come back because it is very welcoming and we like it very much.
The first time we were in apartment with sea views, on the second floor. This time we have been on the ground floor in apartment with views of the interior, which we do not care, even better, because when going with child we did not have to be going in the elevator and caught us very close to reception.
And summarizing the opinion, I do recommend the hotel.

We booked a room in this hotel for four people, two of them a teenager and a child, and we were surprised that there were only three beds and one person had to sleep on the base of sofa cushions (where they had put sheet), without mattress. It is understood that this is the place for children to sleep, that is, the children for this hotel are people who do not have the right to a bed and a mattress. We reclaimed the situation at reception and the person who attended us was quite upset, telling us loudly that there were no beds or mattresses and to claim to the agency that we had sold the trip but that there was no solution and that the room, as it was, was enough for four people. Following the advice, we reported the incident to the agency and in the end, the solution offered was to put a mattress on the couch. It was not the best solution but it improved the situation. If the goal of being in a hotel is to stay overnight, beds should be offered for this. On the other hand, the bed mattresses had on them like a foam mat that sank to camouflage the mattress, which is striking in a four-star hotel.
Another theme is that the wifi constantly failed in the room and although we communicated, the problem was not solved throughout the stay.
As a positive, I would like to mention the buffet staff, who were very friendly and pleasant. Other good aspects are the proximity to the beach and the bus stops but if we ever return, it will not be to this hotel.

Good hotel. Overall the rating is 3.5, but thanks to the kitchen I give it 4.0. The kitchen is super, the chef and his assistants are at a very high level. First line. There is a good promenade nearby. We bought an apartment with a sea view, but in reality there was a piece of sea view and the main view to the end of the house. If you pay extra for a sea view, check with the hotel, this is definitely not a sea view from the first line. The downside is very poor sound insulation and very loud sound from closing the doors to the rooms. The doors keep slamming terribly. Of the minuses, everything (view and sound insulation). There are many more advantages. The staff resolves all issues. The rooms are clean and the housekeeping is generally ok. Yes, by the way, you really can’t hear the planes.

My Husband and I stayed at the hotel at the start of September in a Junior Suite with a sea view.

Overall we had a lovely stay and found that the hotel bar offered very reasonably priced drinks and tasty food for snacking on and was always popular with hotel guests in the afternoon. The resort was clean and tidy and staff were always friendly and willing to help you.

There was a strict mask policy when inside the hotel and staff seemed very keen on ensuring Covid protocols were followed. We felt safe throughout our trip.

The pool isn’t huge, but there are plenty of sunbeds available but if you don’t find one, you can walk just across the road to a GORGEOUS sandy beach, which is absolutely huge. You’ll never be short of space on this beach and the sand is a fantastic fine powder.

Our room was spacious and modern with a small sofa for relaxing on, his and hers double sinks with separate toilet and shower plus a balcony over looking the sea. We did find that whilst the rooms were ‘cleaned’ every day, empty glasses were not always removed or replaced so it didn’t feel as clean as I would have liked but it wasn’t a deal breaker, there are worse things that could happen!

We noticed some of the rooms had built in towel rails on the balcony for drying off swimwear, but bizarrely ours didn’t? Would have been nice to have one of these rather than hanging the wet towels and swimwear over the edge of the balcony and on the chairs.

We only ate in the main restaurant for breakfast so cannot comment on the dinner menu, but breakfast has something for everyone. From fresh pancakes and fried eggs to pastries and continental meats and cheese as well as fruit, the selection is great, you won’t go hungry! I think one morning they maybe even had smoked salmon and champagne?

Nearby we found plenty of fantastic restaurants to eat at, with all kinds of cuisines. I highly recommend l’artista pizzeria napoletana which is about 10-15 mins walk along the beach towards the marina. Honestly, you CANNOT go wrong, it got fully booked most nights we were there and we went twice. Dribbling just thinking about it!

Palma is 20 mins away by taxi so if you want to venture out to visit the cathedral or more restaurants etc it’s easily reachable.

It’s not the fanciest hotel I’ve ever stayed, but it overall if you are looking for a relaxed low key holiday for a bit of sun that doesn’t break the bank you’ll be more than satisfied.

We leave tomorrow following a 9 night stay here. We specifically looked for a hotel that was literally on a beautiful beach and we got it.
The Hotel is 5 minutes from the airport which is ideal. It sits on a 6km promenade and sits right in the middle of it. The Hotel is spotless and the staff clean the apartments every day. We booked a one bed superior sea view apartment. The apartment is very modern , spacious, great walk in shower. Our view is fantastic. The balconies are also very private from each other. We did not include meals but we did eat dinner one evening, it was ok, Reasturant is very big and it was a buffet style.
The pool is very nice, no max rush for beds thank god. The pool bar is great, great service and all tables overlook the sea. For any coeliacs like me , they serve San Miguel gluten free.
We spent most days in the beach, it’s literally across a narrow road. The beach is gorgeous, you can rent beds but we just brought our towels. The water on a calm day is crystal clear and perfect for swimming.
Outside the hotel you can turn right and there are many restaurants , plenty of choice. That stretch seems to be more families and couples etc. not too many bars. If you turn left, the shopping up further is better but it is busier with mainly Germans. The further you go up the younger partier type is there. This is why the location is so great, we prefer the quieter type of holiday so it suited us perfectly. There is a supermarket attached to the hotel too and a shop to rent bikes.
We never stay at the same hotel but I have a feeling we will be back here. It ticked every box for us.

Hello, I write this review because among the many I did I could not do it for this beautiful hotel. A hotel of the highest level in all its spaces and for all the people who work there, from reception to the kitchen. They are all available and smiling and at every request ready to give you a Solution or Recommendation. The room on the ground floor was very spacious and with all the necessary comforts. Clean thanks to great room service. The spectacular and well located pool, facing the sea. But the location of the hotel itself is spectacular, you cross the street and arrive on the immense beach cared for daily by the staff. Returning to the hotel, where I opted for a Half Inn with breakfast and dinner with a varied and excellent buffet. Theme days organized menu (we took the week where there was the Japanese Chinese and European menu). The cuisine is excellent and satisfies all tastes, whether for those who love, fish or meat or simply vegetables. Breakfast, with an immeasurable choice if you prefer it sweet but also if (as I did) you want to go on the salty one. Che dire è stata una vacanza bellissima!!!

We stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment with a sea view. Fantastic spot as it's so close to the beach. You can literally go and come during the day if you don't have shade.

Employees were all lovely from the front desk to room cleaners, all very accommodating. I slept on the sofa bed as the room mattresses were too soft for me, room is also very hot as it doesn't get air from outside, unless you like sleeping with air con.

There is a supermarket next to the hotel so you can buy anything you need. Lots of restaurants around and the aquarium is very close. They have a kid's show every night during weekdays and music outside at night as well.

Regarding the hotel's restaurant, there is a lot of selection for breakfast and dinner. I did find it a bit bland, not a lot of taste to it so this is the only part that I wouldn't give it a 5*. I did like a few dishes but the rest I just ate because I had half board included. Desserts are basically a few sponge cakes, fruit or ice cream. Was expecting from a 4* hotel.

Overall I would still recommend for it's location - superb!

Check your room allocation before paying

We checked in and given room numbers and paid in full but later when received keys discovered the 2x rooms were not the rooms we ordered in April and checked 4 days before. Far inferior. No one bothered to mention. I needed a kitchen for my son with allergies. No one told me (the adult) on check in despite them knowing. A message passed via kids when collecting keys.
No manager available. Everyone just said they could not help!! The next day eventually one room got moved and we finally got the second room I booked and paid for about 3.40pm. Please don’t pay until you check your rooms. We wasted a whole day with this.. the air con in room 220 is awful. Despite me complaining. It’s bad. We also had another 3 rooms in the group so I know this is not normal. The bathrooms flooded as drains not cleared out but rooms are ok. Overall it’s ok. Good location
