depend what kind of holiday you are after really. We are normally a couple that do hire a car and go exploring but Frigiliana is such a lovely village that you can just walk, relax and sit by the pool. Also loads of lovely restaurants for all meals if you dont want to cook. plenty of wee supermarkets to buy ingredients for cooking. no big supermarkets at all (other than down in Nerja - you can get the bus down the 4 mile hill for 1 euro each).
we are into our keep fit so we joined the local gym - cheap as chips - its basic but has enough equipment. the public pool behind the gym is just gorgeous too and a decent length if you like swimming. lots of mountains to climb with amazing views.
short answer - no you dont! enjoy yourselves you will love it
