We loved the place , great location on top of the hill. Nice freshly made food with local ingredients and local wines you get to try. We had two rooms right across, one for my wife and I, the other for our two kids. They are 12 & 13 years. Limited Rooms so it gets house full so

Today, having left Casa do Visconde de Chanceleiros, we feel a sense of loss...Ursula and her awesome team created a space for us where we felt cared for without being intrusively cared for...during our three day stay we continually marveled at exquisite taste and attention to

An exquisite place where kindness, hospitality and comfort are perfectly matched with the beauty of the region. Having stayed there with my wife and children for one night, all I can do is congratulate Mrs. Ursula for what she has done - and continues to do - with this

At the end of a week's walking, this was a superb place to end the holiday in the Count of Calheiros' home. I must admit that the promise of 'meeting the count' left me a little uneasy, basing my 'prejudice' on known or imagined contact with UK so-called 'royalty', but we had

With a detailed map you can find the paths up to the ridges and through the vineyards. The hotel has these maps available. Very 'up and down' though and past a lot of grapes...!

So sorry it took so long. You can drive down to Pinao in a trice - not scary, but of course you have to be careful, especially if you have wine with dinner! We ate at the Casa every night because we loved it so much - home cooking style and beautifully paired - red, white, rose, and ports that the owner sources from local vineyards. Hope you enjoyed your stay - if you’ve already been.

Do I need a car? Anne
Hi Anne- My wife and I took the train from Porto to Pinhau. We then took a taxi up to the hotel. We stayed for two nights and didn't have a car. During our stay, we did the tour of the Bomfim winery and a boat trip on the Douru River. We were fine without a car because we wanted some down time to just relax. A car would be nice if you want to explore the mountain roads and do tours of the many vineyards in this area. And if you are planning to stay for more than a day or two. The Casa is a great place to stay. Have fun! Lloyd
