On arrival, in the early evening, the restaurant was closed, the bar was closed and the staff actually recommended an adjacent bar since no food or beverages were available. On inspection of the room we found our limited view was further obstructed by scaffolding. Well at least the room's mini-bar may numb the laughable experience. Nope!. The fridge was completely empty. In fact friends we arranged to meet there told us their fridge was empty too. There was an indoor pool which was slightly bigger than my own bath and distinctly had a 'film' on the water. The heating unit was definitely needed overnight but was as quiet as a car left running in the bedroom. It was either stay awake because of the cold or stay awake because of the noise. Breakfast was awesome though. Plenty of variation and plenty of it. Trouble was, I fell asleep in to my bowl of Cornflakes.

When we booked we stated that we would be arriving after midnight as we were on a late flight into Porto- when we arrived place in total blackness - doors were open but no one about, no envelope or key left for us - by this time it was 12.45pm and we had to drive around the local area looking for a hotel but couldn’t find any open - luckily we drove past the hotel and saw a group of people going in, they seemed to know the hotel and rang a number and a lady came down in her pyjamas and gave us our key. Great .... however the room was damp, musty and freezing cold with the thinnest of blankets. Then at 4 in the morning the plastic casing off the fan in the bathroom fell into the bath and made such a racket we thought someone was trying to break in!! Bed was like a rock, windows were soaked with condensation and you could here every little noise outside. We couldn’t wait to leave and didn’t even stay for the included breakfast. It’s such a shame as the location is great in Luso, but just too rundown.

We were only staying one night to see a little bit of the area. The man in the reception was very nice and gave us an early check-in and an upgrade to a suite. He also gave good advice about the area. We went for a nice walk up the hill and some coffee in the local café. The room was big and had a balcony with a nice view. We had a bath in the big bathtub and the only trouble was that there was no way to air out the bathroom other than open the door to the room. Since it was winter and raining it was damp already in the room. We used the aircon already but it didn’t help enough. We appreciated the fridge in the room. The bed was hard as always if you stay in a hotel less than 4 stars in Portugal. Overall we had a nice and quiet stay. Breakfast was nice and we really liked the fact that they had real Portuguese cheese and not just the regular one. Fresh fruit, cornflakes and fresh bread was nice too. Good value for money at only 40 Euros per night at low season. We would stay here again.

We stayed here for one night en route between Lisbon and Minho in Northern Portugal. Luso is a pretty little town, and we could overlook the cobble stone streets from our balcony. Our room was not modern, but everything we needed for one night's sleep. A clean floor and a nice bathroom was everything we asked for, and got it. Breakfast was decent with a fair amount of selections. We didn't leave hungry.

We booked a romantic package, so we wanted a double room but we stayed at room two single beds very small with very old furniture. But what is serious was the lack of cleanliness in several items such as spider webs in the room, a layer of dust on some furniture, curtains and bed clothes smelling of mildew. Friendly employees but untrained and insufficient. No information in the bedroom, as the security measures, nor hotel services. The pool is tiny. The Fish served in the restaurant was of dubious quality   In my opinion is not a three-star hotel

"The "game room" is located on the second floor. You can have a bit of a noise if there are people there listening to music."
