Besides the fact that this hotel is very well positioned (good view above the village and near the beginning of some Luso trails), we were delighted with the breakfast as regional food was provided. I would say this was one of the best hotel breakfast I can remember of, if not the best so far. I highly recommend this hotel, anyone can be assured of having a nice and relaxing time there.
Stayed in hotel alegre for 7 nights having booked direct through hotels own website. They responded promptly to all questions via email and were really helpful. The hotel itself was very traditional, lovely and clean and the staff couldn't be more polite and helpful. The traditional continental breakfast was lovely from the fresh bread to the range of fruit and jams etc. It was set in the centre of a lovely little town which was a handy e base for our needs but within easy reach to Some of the bigger towns and cities. Would definitely recommend and would happily return again. Many thanks for our lovely stay.
Really nice hotel with an interesting history within easy walking distance of the Bussaco forest. We walked all morning through the forest and up to the battle sites – some great views. Large room, well equipped bathroom, all very clean. Lovely pool area – used pool both days, with interesting bandstand style shaded sitting area. Plenty of parking both in the hotel car park and on the road outside. A little difficult to find but should have checked photo before – a large pink building with a fine staircase about 100 yards along the road from centre.
An old hotel with a huge story with it. Recommend it. The city is also very nice to visit. The decorations is very vintage and very pleasant. There are also a lot of locals to visit in that area like Parque Natural do Buçaco.
We stayed at this hotel for three days and were fairly happy with this place and its surroundings. The weather was poor for the time of year, but the owners and staff can't help that, can they? Nor could they tell us they did not like the weather, as we do not speak a great deal of Portuguese and we did not encounter any member of staff who spoke English, French, Dutch or German. Still, everything went smoothly. Alegre is old style, with a lot of dark wood and the smell of wood polish that seems to go with it. You still get a good deal for what you pay: the amenities are OK, our room was not too big, but satisfactory for a three night stay in an area where you can visit a lot. There is a small pool, a (rather cramped) parking lot and buffet breakfast well supplied (egg is baked/cooked on request). Luso was well located to visit Aveiro, Coimbra and Conimbriga, while Busaco and the Vineyard area are worth a visit in their own right.…
