This is a cozy hotel to stay in Luso and it’s very cheap! The rate for a double room is 42€/night and breakfast is included! We’ve stayed in a room with a view to the village, as you can see in the picture (our room has a balcony, very pleasant at night). This is a small village, so there isn´t traffic noise! There are two main reasons to go to Luso, to visit Buçaco and/or because of the thermal waters. The reason that took us to Luso was to hike in Buçaco. And for this objective, this hotel is very well located because it’s a 5 min walk to a point of entry in Buçaco, through a lot of stairs (see picture). If you don´t use this point of entry, you must go by car or taxi to the main point of entry in Buçaco. As we arrived in Luso by train (departure from Coimbra), you can get to the village by taxi or by walking (it’s a 10-15min walk through the road, but don´t worry there isn´t a lot of traffic, we didn´t see a car!). Tip, when you walk out of the train station look to the bridge, it´s a fantastic view. When you leave Luso by train, you can´t buy the ticket in the train station (there isn’t anyone a t the train station), but don’t worry because you can buy it inside of the train! The room is spacious and clean! The staff is very friendly! The Breakfast room is very cozy (ups, we didn’t took a picture!) and the breakfast is as usual in Portugal (cereals, milk coffee, fruit, yogurts, bread.) I don´t know if the hotel as parking spot, but it´s easy to park in the village and near of the hotel. So in a nutshell, this is the place to stay in Luso, especially if the propose of the trip is hike in Buçaco!…
My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our night at the Hotel Central. The host and hostess were extremely accommodating. I inadvertently left my address book behind and upon returning to Australia, found they had posted it to my home which was fantastic.
The hotel seems to be newly refurbished. The rooms are new and very clean. It is located within 5 minute walk from the entrance of the Bussaco National Park and very convenient for the hikers who want to explore the park. The staff was helpful and nice. If you do not need a swimming pool, the hotel garden, and the bacon and egg breakfast, this small and cozy hotel is highly recommended although you may not have much view if you stay in a room for single use.
This hotel is a bit more expensive than the other two hotels beside it, but is also better. The cheapest hotel in Luso is Hotel Imperial at 35 Euros a night. But at the Hotel Central the rooms are larger and more comfortably furnished and the hotel represents an attractive option to stay in Luso. If you can afford to pay 10 Euros more than the hotel Imperial then stay at the Hotel Central. A nearby restaurant is Lorencos. The food and prices are decent, but the service is not friendly and beware the appetizers which they place on your table. If you eat them all you will be charged about 5 Euros. Aside from that, it represents an attractive dining option. Also I recommend that you check out the spa at the Mayo Clinic in Luso (next to Bussaco), where they have nice treatments at reasonable prices.…
