To save money they don't turn on AC until late April (and apparently off in October) so my room is regularly above 80 even with the windows open and the fan jammed in the window blowing cool air in from outside (temperatures in the 60's and 70's). Don't turn the AC on in your room, it just blows hot air,...

I had to stay here for a DAU class. The service was friendly. The room had a nice fridge and microwave. The bed was amazingly comfortable. I have a hard time sleeping away from home, but not here. Room was clean, but a little dated. Would stay here again even if for leisure trips!

The Building was old, thick walls didn't even allowed Cell Phone 4G Service, but the area it was well kept. Everything was clean and service was good. It was a good night sleep, nothing extraordinary, just good shut-eye!

On the first night I arrived very late. They put me in a room in which the whole buildings air conditioning was out. I was told there is a fan in the closet. The temperature in the room was about 97 degrees Fahrenheit. The next day they moved me to a room in the same building as where you check...

If you've stayed in Norfolk at the Naval Gateway Inn, you probably already know there are several of them in different locations. We made reservations at one, tried to check in at a different one and finally received a room at the location on Bacon, Maury Hall. Boy, did we luck out! This place is super, super nice. When checking...

I'm a little late posting this review but better late than never and hopefully things have changed. I had just flew in from JAX where I stayed in the NGIS there and was super pleased with my stay. I was wire abased with NGIS Norfolk. At 8:30pm the line was so long to check in that it took what seemed...

I was supposed to stay for 4 days but I left after 2 and found a new hotel. The staff was short and hardly friendly. I am un familiar with the area and was seeking guidance but was offered nothing. The layout of the rooms was awkward and the walls were paper thin. I could hear every word from the...

This is the on-base Navy Gateway Inn, so if you don't have DoD ID, doubt you'll be able to use this, plus you'll need your DoD ID (CAC card) to check in. That said, what a very nice place and only $56! There are at least two kinds of rooms - singles and suites. I stayed in a single. The...

I have stayed at NGIS Norfolk on all my TAD trips to Norfolk (except one) and they never disappoint. Yes, some of the buildings are older (Breezy Pt) but the rooms are renovated, roomy and extremely comfortable. In the "old Navy" Sailors always wanted a CNA in order to stay out in town - not anymore......NGIS does it right, every...

This is for military only, active and retired, but the stay was wonderful. The base is clean and easy to get around. The NEX has great stuff to purchase. The movie theatre was showing up to date movies. The pool was fantastic. Got to view the battleships that were in. A truly awesome experience. We were there for 4 days...

“Maury Hall rooms (x-CPO CBQ) are very nice - as well as the "A" bldg efficiency suites.”

“close to Virginia Beach, about 45 minutes. Just be aware that traveling on weekends the traffic is truly congested. Make plans to go during the week during the summer. The tunnels will be backed up otherwise. Only flaw I saw. But understand the people from Wash. DC to Maryland rush to the beach on the weekends.”
