Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We only stayed at the property for a day to take advantage of the beach club.
Lovely place, super characteristic with an enchanting sea. Beautiful location to spend a pleasant day at the beach. The restaurant good.
The only flaw: a single bathroom (even a little dirty) without changing rooms and showers that allow the use of shower gel and shampoo.

The place itself it’s really gorgeous however it is worth one star only. It’s not for everyone to walk down all those steps to reach the hotel but I would do it again if the quality of the services were worth it. It is extremely decadent and feels like I visited a hotel in the 70s without the charm of the 70s. Old, with a very bad maintenance, total absence of Any kind of service. Including the fact that you will not have access to your phone and I don’t need the data, if you need to receive an important call you will not be able to do so and they pretend it is because they want you to relax.
But he’s just another excuse to not invest in the premises. The rooms are old decadent and without a bidet, in italy it’s not aceptable. There is No service to the pools which means if you need some water you need to climb hundred steps. The worst thing is that they charge you for a five star hotel/restaurant but to do so they will need to invest in staff And renovations. The arrogance of the owner is a cherry on top. I suggest day get some consultant to instruct them on how to manage such a Gorgeous location, hotel restaurant and people, As they failed it big time. There are many beautiful places on the island so just avoid it

We were shocked how that arrogant and unrespectful owner was. It is not about the hotel that i am writing about, but about the swimming park that those people own.
We rented a boat from Forio and we parked outside the "Scannella Spa" and we just wanted to ask about the prices and if the next day there was a vacant place. We came of course via sea, but he told us to go away in an arrogant way and we only wanted to ask for price to spend the money there the next days. And it seem that they do not want to do business and do not want to appreciate if people ask about the prices. Total disappointment.

I am from Ischia and i am also doing a lot of advertising for Scannella and i always suggest to people to go there, but how i was treated this time it is shocking.

Flop Flop Flop

PS : Avere un modo ed un attegiamento serio e cortese e´ un fattore molto importante nell´hospitality e questa cosa qui, in questo posto, si puo´ dimenticarla al 100%

The place is beautiful. That is the only positive thing I can say about my experience at Scannella. The steps are worth the effort for the view and beautiful location. However, the management is appalling. Rude owner who makes you feel like he doesn’t want you there but will happily take every cent they can. Food incredibly over priced- quality very very low. But unfortunately you are not allowed to bring your own food and therefore have no choice. My advice is get very simple food on the menu ie. bruschette, impepata di cozze. Do not bother with flavourless pasta and frozen and scant fritto misto. Also would advise you bring cash as the card machine almost never works and you’ll waste a lot of precious beach time. Would I go again? Absolutely not. Please go prepared- never again. The only stars I am giving are for the beauty of location.

We stayed in this place for a whole day to spend a relaxing day.
Unique views and swimming pools…
The staff is not attentive and some of them seem annoyed by the presence of external customers.
The food is of very poor quality with very high prices (for just 2 limoncellos it costs €16), there is only one bathroom and no changing room to change.
The only shower in the pool area does not allow the use of shower gel and shampoo.
To reach the place you have to face many high and downhill steps.
I recommend installing a telephone in the pool area connected to the bar to avoid having to go back and forth a thousand times.
I'm sorry to give so few stars for a place that could potentially work very well but we had a really bad time except for the swimming pools.

The influencers conveniently leave out that your cab drops you off at the top of a cliff and you have to hike down about 500 meters to get to the actual hotel or “resort.” This is up there with one of the worst experiences of my entire life. There were stairs to get in the ocean and they’re covered with algae so I slipped and fell into the rocks and sliced my hand open. Not one staff member or guest batted an eye. We tried to get lunch before we left and the staff kept letting people who were behind us get seated before us. We finally sat down and they never brought us menus. We picked up our things and walked out. The hike back up was the worst experience of all of this. Never ever come here.

Aside from the spectacular views and creative use of the terraces, the place really is a shocker. Where to begin. From the borderline hostile attitude of the patron throughout our stay, especially when requested to repair the non-functioning loo, to the shabby state of the pokey bedroom, truly dreadful food, over-priced drinks and clueless staff (other than the delightful daughter of the aforementioned owner). Getting to it is challenging, even more so when leaving up the very steep hill, which necessitated pushing the hopelessly under powered Fiat 500. The vast number of steps that one encounters are likely to be an impediment to the aged or infirm, but my simple suggestion to anyone thinking of holidaying in Ischia is, find somewhere else.

Simply one word...SCAM.
The food is good but this is the typical rip off place. They tried to add several plates that we didn’t ordered at the restaurant and when we were arguing with the owner for some sunbeds that we cancel he was laughing in our face and and being disrespectful. They reach that level where the customer is not at the first place because they have some many clients that they can afford to be cocky and dishonest.
Ischia is a beautiful place and there are hundreds of other places where you can eat and stay and where you will be treated as you deserve.

For me the only positive note in Ischia. The structure is isolated and immersed in silence. The clientele is very refined and allows for excellent relaxation. Breathtaking view and location and excellent restaurant. I will definitely go back

We arrived and left within 20 minutes. Dirty. Unkept. Rundown. Exposed wiring and piping. Health hazards everywhere. Non existent service from staff. No wifi or mobile service. Smells of stagnant water. Pools half full. Tiles missing.

€35 euro entry per person…

Walk down is the best bit.

Lady on reception was very pleasant.

Needs a lot of money being spent on it. Looks good on Instagram, disappointment in real life.

Dove è meglio parcheggiare la macchina e prendere il taxi boat per raggiungerlo?
Answer from Roberta P
Rome, Italy218 contributions421 helpful votes
