We found this hotel through Rick Steve'S book and apparently the hotel was sold after him publishing the book. The hotel has no restaurant although breakfast was served. There were silks all over the chairs and beds. It was dark and absolutely not what we expected.

Friendly owners, free breakfast, charming old German building in a historic village...be sure to take the ferry to St. Goar too see the stunning Rhine valley of castles and vineyards. Rooms prices are reasonable. Free Wi-Fi and all major train lines go right into the town of Bacharach so you can get here easily.

We stayed in room number 8. It was the largest room on the third floor. The primary benefit other than the size was that you get a view from both sides of the castle. One that faces the Rhein and the other side faces the village. Very comfortable rooms that includes a fabulous breakfast in the morning. Mrs. Lee is... More

Our first stop on our vacation was Bacharach, staying at Hotel Kranenturm. It definitely gave the other hotels on our trip something to live up to! The owners were very nice and spoke English well. Our breakfast was wonderful, and eating it out on the terrace looking out to the beautiful Rhine every morning was great. Our room had a... More

We really enjoyed our room and how unique it was. I believe our room was in the tower. The owners were very nice and accomodating. The breakfast choices were so good (especially the mueslix and yogurt).

While this hotel sits right on the Rhine river, the train track does also. I never noticed any train noise at night! The outside seating area was the perfect place to sit with a nice German wine. Our room overlooked the river which was so peaceful. Bacharach is a charming town.

PLEASE READ ENTIRE REVIEW: I had a reservation to stay at another hotel in Bacharach (which will remain nameless for this review) and when I arrived at night from the train the owner of the other hotel said "I am sick...my hotel is closed and you cannot stay here". With nowhere to go I went to Hotel Kranenturm and told... More

I recently stayed at Hotel Kranenturm on a trip through Germany in Winter. At first, I wasn't sure that I was in the correct place, as I was using the 2015 Rick Steve's Germany book and it listed a different owner than the current one. It turns out that the new owner and his wife took over in January 2015,... More

Although it is an older hotel, our bedroom was nicely sized and had a wardrobe to hold our clothing. The bath was also decently sized. The foods served for breakfast were more than adequate and our dinner of chicken and spaetzle was very good. I did not find the trains bothersome.

We stayed at this hotel one night and was very good and very cozy. It is in a 13th century fortress tower. The rooms were very clean, modern bathroom and excellent breakfast. The manager Mr. Lee and his wife were very gracious hosts. Mr. Lee carried our luggage all the way up to the room (three flights), as there is... More
