So, I've just read the other reviews. I've been travelling for over a year now and have stayed in all types of accommodation, from 0 stars to 5 stars, on most continents too. So let's have some perspective. This isn't a 5 star hotel, it isn't priced or marketed as one either! As for the price, currently it's 450 baht per night for a double air conditioned room with a fridge (including freezer section), a TV, small balcony and your own private bathroom with hot water. I stayed in room 13 (first floor), the room is HUGE!!! Think about the size of a room you would book in any European city (in this price range) and you would be booking a shoe box, if it's even possible to get a room in this price range! However, we are not in Europe! So, let's look at Bangkok, the price would be similar but probably without air conditioning, usually a fan only, also the room would be much smaller and probably wouldn't have a balcony, (very useful if you are a smoker). Or should we look at Hanoi in Vietnam? For the price you would be looking more at a hostel with the possibility of a hotel but of a very poor standard. The room does need a bit of a paint job, the mattress is a bit springy but nothing that isn't manageable for a few nights (considering the price remember). The balcony doesn't have any furniture, that is a slight pain, only slight though. On the whole the the room is very good, very large and quiet with great wifi, airconditioning and hot powerful shower. Now for 450 baht it's a steal compared to most accommodation that is available on this island. The location. Great! When you come off the ferry just jump in a white taxi (it's 60 baht per person) they may say 80 baht but then when your in the driver will ask for your money, simply say "how much"? He will say 60 baht, because that is the price! The hotel is situated with little food stalls at the end of the street (60 meters) with a 7/11 across the road (very quiet road) and then you have a beautiful soft golden beach. Walk down the side of the "coconut beach resort" and you have the beach and a selection of beautiful little resorts that you can buy a drink and enjoy there facilities. You can also rent a scooter at the hotel, reasonable price too, (I shopped around). All the staff I have met have been very nice, welcoming and full of smiles. So, when I think of all the places in the world I've been to and all the hotels, campsites, hostels etc etc and I think of this place, for the price, the location, defiantly for the airconditioning then I would have to give this place a big thumbs up. Would stay here again in a heartbeat. If your looking for a 5 star hotel then I suggest you look to open your wallet to a 5 star price! Enjoy your trip.

I was in room 48. I would dis-advise to anyone to take this room who usually sleeps on western beds with soft mattresses. The mattress there can be viewed as a wooden plank surrounded with a sheet. I woke up after 4 hours with pain everywhere, then put 3 towels on it but the situation didn't get a lot better. Couldn't sleep for 30 Minutes. Then a cock was crowing. In the morning I transferred to room 17. There they had a metal feather mattress with a depression so deep you could feel the feathers. I flipped it on the back side but the same. Then I turned it by 180 degrees an there the depression was only half the way down and I could use it. My friend in room 47 had about the same worn out feather mattress as me. Pros: - Very low price - 2 bottles of water for free. This water is of good quality, doesn't taste salty. - Quiet, with the exception of a crowing cock - At the dead end of a road with several restaurants (nearly no traffic) - Near the beach in the middle between two big touristic spots - Some doors have the possibility to attach your own padlock - Security cameras (but I guess they are not operational) - Plugs were working and fitting tight - Shower temperature is controllable and constant. Water too. - Scooter parking - Scooter rental just aside - In walking distance of the beach (300 m) Cons: - Some beds unusable for westerners - Everything in an old and worn out condition. Some things rusty. - Security doors are always open. Some have broken locks - Curtain is not making dark. For light sensitive people: Bring your own eye shield (those you get in the airports). - Unsafe doors with very old us style locks (easy to open). Some keys are working bad (eg. room 48). - Doors to the back side the same and have some slits where insects can come in. - Cleanliness is only just acceptable (have seen worse in Cambodia though). - Rooms are not fully clean of insects. There are some on the ceiling and upper walls. - No lamps at the bed. You have to go back in the dark or with handy light. - No side furniture or power plugs at the bed - Only one trash can in the bed room, none in the bath - No separate shower compartment, water goes directly to the floor and the toilet (can wet your stuff). Water doesn't run off by itself. - Shower head only partially working (worn out or broken) - No 24 hour office. Office opens 8am and closes at 8pm. Keys will be given to the porter. - Unreliable staff. Laundry was not done, towels missing, keys were not a the porter one time, porter can't speak a word English and must call the office people. They come after 5 Minutes, bring the keys and apologize. - Old small tube TV - WiFi wasn't showing up in my rooms (the last on the right side) - No notable window view - The deposit space for your bags on the last day is unsafely outside the office building, and only barely in the dry. It's just a hotel for backpackers that stay a short time.
