Had booked 4 nights ended up staying extra night koh Chang is beautiful. We stayed beach side which I would recommend. Rooms are dated but spotless location is fabulous right on the beach. Only large quilt on the beds too warm asked 4 times for a extra sheet to use instead of quilt told don't have think communication problem in the end used quilt cover. Breakfast is usual thai style really enjoyed our stay hopefully be back soon.
Location: Just Excellent with clean beach in front (was mostly wavy during 8 nights but maybe we are unlucky). Too many options for bars restaurants etc around. Pool: looks amazing but should be vanishing edge and not skimmer. Big issue is too much Acid in the pool burning the skin and the eyes (if you open them underwater for a second you notice the acid). if you smell the grey stones around the perimeter of the pool they smell ACID (not clorine). Too bad they are making pool unusable. Kids skin burned so qe tried keeping her at the beach (we have pool back home and she has not issue with chlorine and uses it for hours on daily basis). Another issue is sunbed reservation by throwing towels on sunbeds around pool keeping them without using them all day. Staff: Apart from the old lady frying the eggs at breakfast all staff had good manners, BUT! The staff are very slow and management must find a way to audit staff and check their performance. Breakfast is good except that the old lady is doing anything than what you order (2 eggs instead of 3, rotate the eggs when you ask her not to, piling up the eggs on an small plate etc for a 8 days). if you want cheese or nutella you can buy from 7eleven since i didnt see it included in any hotel (durjng 3 months stay i thailand). Rooms: Old but good enough Price: Found it overpriced because pool we couldnt use and similar rooms without poll at the same location cost half.…
Cookies Hotel has two sections: one by the beach, which is more expensive, and one across the street. We stayed at the section across the street, while friends chose a room on the beach. It is quite a difference in atmosphere and comfort. I recommend paying the higher price and stay on the beach. The breakfast was minimal. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms in the cheaper section were not maintained well: the extra bed brought to the room (after check-in, although they knew we needed it) was broken, but we made do. It is on White Sand Beach, which has many shops and restaurants within easy walking distance.
As i had read reviews about Koh Chang im glad i opted to go further down the island!!! Cookies hotel was clean and right on the beach and also restaurant attached to hotel (Good Food) i didnt have to go far for anything.
The location is prime if you are in the beach front building, but despite the beautiful photos, we were ushered to another building across the road on the mountain side. The room was average, but well worn and no view, unless you admire cars & bikes. The pool was great, but the in-pool bar was dilapidated and the timber framework rotten. Needless to say unmanned and an eye sore.
