There's nothing wrong with this campground; the bathrooms were fairly clean considering it was Labor Day weekend, the sites were nice, the staff was friendly, and there's a small lake ideal for kids fishing. We were able to get a small primitive camp site just a week before Labor Day, and we had a very nice time. I think it's... More

We stayed at the Spy Rock cabin. It was clean, well furnished, and attractively decorated. The campground was quiet and well kept. The staff was friendly and accommodating. It was a perfectly relaxing way to celebrate our anniversary!

We stayed in the Pioneer Cabin and it was great. The accommodationswere comfortable, functional, and historic. The folks that run the cabins, campgrounds, fishing, and country store are awesome. I recommenda stay here to everyone.

This was a planned fishing trip for the kids (ages 5, 7, and 10). The drive was over 2 hours for us and the winding roads require lots of caution on the way there. I would recommend doing all of your grocery and other shopping needs about 30 minutes before arriving. There's not much less than about 6 or so... More

Thank you for your feedback. Our cabins and facilities are located in a very mountainous, remote area and we understand that the setting may be a bit too rustic or close to nature for some. While we do ask that folks clean their dishes and gather the bedding at the end of their stay, it is in an effort to... More

We tent camped in site 33. Ground is very rocky. Be sure to bring a hammer to stake the tent. Nice view of the lake. Plenty of space had water and electric. We hiked to spy rock which is down the road as well as crab tree falls. The comfort station was clean and stocked. No cell phone service.Only problem... More

I've camped at Montebello twice in the last 2-3 years and have come away with the same impression each time: on a 1-5 scale, it is a solid 3.5 stars. Things that ding it: the site are right on top of each other and don't afford much privacy, sometimes in the evening it can get a little loud, and the... More

I just spent 3 days here. Typical campground that has trailer, RV, and tent sites. It has one pond that is stocked with trout. It also has a 4 acre lake with bass, crappie, perch, catfish, etc. You can fish, swim, and boat (no motors) in the lake. Campground is set in the trees, predominantly pine trees that are over... I can only speak for my own experiences at Montebello Camping & Fishing resort. As for negative reviews I can only say make sure you do you're homework. I came across this little camp ground 7 years ago when I lived in Staunton. I didn't stay here until the first week of August this year with my 12 year old... More

I chose this place to go fishing and hiking. I had three 18 year old boys with me. Very nice staff and the country store had everything we needed. We did all our fishing in the "lake" which was actually just a large pond. The brim and perch were very active. We saw catfish but didn't catch any. The surrounding... More

I just read the other views posted and am surprised by the negativity. We stayed in the new Spy Rock cabin July 4th weekend and was extremely pleased with our experience. The cabin was very cozy and conveniently located to the store and lake. This is a family owned campground and, where other smaller campgrounds may have a problem with... More

“Seven Ridges Cabin: We had plenty of hot water but the pressure sometimes fluxuates. Remember you're in the mountains. We also went the first weekend of August and it was unusually cool with temps in the low 60's to low 70's.”
