The hotel is clean and charming, with rooms decorated in unique themes. The rooms feel more like a B&B, but with all the amenities of a hotel - nice indoor/outdoor pool, hot tub, and sauna, and a breakfast room with a complimentary continental breakfast as well as a gift shop with a good selection of kids' toys. The ponies and...

Nestled among pine trees sits a perfect refuge. This family owned inn offers visitors an affordable alternative to the chain hotels on the Island of Chincoteague. The staff was very friendly, curtious, and knowledgeable about local attractions. The rooms have been recently refurbished. The color scheme was soothing and relaxing. The bed was very comfortable. Having ponies in the corral...

This hotel felt like staying over grandmas house! The room was comfortably decorated and had a great relaxing ambiance. The front desk staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast had great choices and was served in a cozy kitchen feeling gift shop. The pool/hot tub area was also great, family friendly yet relaxing. They even have some ponies...

Thank you so much for the stellar review! My grandma (Everyone called her Miss Martha) ran the place for several decades. She had was all about Southern Hospitality and we're doing our best to maintain that feel of "coming home" for our guests. We're glad you enjoyed our Inn and hope to see you again soon.

This is the closest hotel to the wildlife refuge. Bikes available next door. Continental breakfast, yum! Loved the first floor pool side :) Chincoteague ponies onsite are attractive to children and help promote the history of the Island.

You can really get away from it here. Despite the odd sounding name (which almost put us off booking) this hotel was peaceful. The woodland area is stunning on a sunny day and you can see lots of wildlife including ponies. There is a bike shop that you can rent a bike from. The hot tub and pool area was...

Staff extremely polite & very accommodating. The location was excellent for the beach & viewing the wild ponies! A great selection of different types of food & our favorite. ice cream at the island creamery.. Many boat charters for a cruise around the island and wildlife. We also enjoyed the many hiking paths and going up in the Chincoteague lighthouse

Family - owned, clean, beautiful, warm and inviting. Very accommodating to all needs. The rooms are gorgeous and the location is smack in the middle of the local favorites to eat and shop. Will definitely return to stay at Refuge Inn.

We really enjoyed our 2 nights at the Refuge Inn. Our room was beautifully decorated in an elegant style included a lazyboy chair. The bathroom was immaculately clean with nice toiletries. A balcony with 2 chairs completed the accommodation. We were on the second floor, the rooms on the lower level get a bit of garden too. Ideally located for...

Sweet place to stay that feels more like a bed and breakfast than a hotel. The people at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. I can't think of anything I would change, except to lengthen my stay!

My wife and I discovered this gem of a place a few years back. It's the best and happens to be the closest hotel to the beach - Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge. They have a large bike rental facility, and biking to the beach takes only a few minutes. Clean, friendly staff, great service and incredible value.
