Discovered this hotel on our way down to Florida a few years ago. Since then we have been back 4 times. It has such charm and is well located. It is near route 64 and in close proximity to restaurants. The staff is very congenial and there are nice touches such as afternoon tea and cookies. The rooms are a...

Best value and pool, plus tea & cookies by the fireplace made the English Inn my new home away from home when visiting UVA. The staff did a great job plowing during 9 inches of snow this past weekend.

We make frequent trips to Charlottesville and always stay at The English Inn. This older hotel has much more charm than the cookie cutter hotels of the big boys. The staff is always friendly and courteous and the rooms are clean and comfortable. You can enjoy cookies and tea/coffee from their sunken living room with a fireplace that is filled...

My fiance and I were supposed to stay at a cabin for the weekend but we left the cabin when we discovered we had no heat and no tv and we were expecting a snow storm. We saw the English Inn off the side of the road and decided to see what their rates were. Gail at the front desk...

Our expectations for breakfast were high based on other reviews and the front desk staff at check in. We found the breakfast to be average - nothing special (VERY ripe bananas, bland chipped beef). I have never been to a hotel that had so many rules posted (pets, open containers, etc.). They must have problems with guests and that is...

Not a fan of the girl at the front desk from the beginning. And then our bed smelled like aluminum foil. It's so weird but it smelled awful. Little black specs on the blanket and the bathroom was subpar. I mean, we paid for a suite and the shower was cracked and falling apart. The outside Tudor style is NOT...

This hotel is a perfect example of the classic hospitality and genuine charm of an independently owned hotel. The rooms are beautiful and very comfortable. Attention is given to every detail of our stay even down to the the Bath and Body Works soaps and shampoos. The beautiful fireplace and decorum made us feel very cozy and relaxed. The indoor...

I was traveling with a touring theatre company back in December and was charged with making the hotel decisions for the group. We selected The English Inn for our stay when we were performing in Charlottesville. We were also performing in a city about an hour and a half a way and, because The English Inn was so nice and...

We have been coming here for more than six years (ever since our children started attending the University of Virginia) and it is always our top choice in Charlottesville. As you walk in you are greeted by a friendly staff and the lobby has a large sitting area with a cozy fireplace. In the afternoon, they put out fresh baked...

We stay here whenever we go to Charlottesville. It's comfortable, convenient, the breakfasts are great, and having tea and a cookie in the lobby when we arrive is a nice touch. We like to walk around outside in the community gardens.
